Cape Cadogan is a gorgeous property. The location was perfect to enjoy the local restaurants. I would definitely stay at this property again!
Well situated hotel for city focused activities. Great security and spacious bedroom. Space is very decorated. They provided games and lovely public sitting areas. Some design hiccups such as bathroom door was flimsy and breakfast food was adequate.
We really enjoyed our four night stay in this superb boutique hotel in the Kloof district of Cape Town .
The team who run the hotel are all excellent.
Our premium room was very spacious and extremely comfortable . The bathroom was well appointed and large .
We made full use of the hotel shuttle service which you can book for individual trips at a small additional cost .
The breakfast was more than sufficient .
The Restaurant and garden area were very relaxing for a city hotel .
We loved our time at the hotel and can offer no negative comments .
It really is the place to stay
This was our family of four’s first trip to Cape Town, and we were looking for a safe hotel in close proximity to shopping and restaurants. Cape Cadogan turned out to be a great choice overall.
The location is excellent—just steps away from Kloof Street, where many of Cape Town’s best restaurants and cafés are located. The hotel itself has wonderful character and history; it’s impressive how they’ve preserved the architecture of a building dating back to the 1800s while still offering modern comfort.
The rooms were very well appointed, with high-quality bedspreads and toiletries, and nothing to complain about in terms of comfort. Breakfast was very good, and overall the ambience of the hotel was warm, stylish, and relaxing. Between the location, the rooms, the food, and the atmosphere, the core experience was very strong.
The only areas for improvement were around organization and attention to detail. The staff sometimes seemed a bit flustered, and prior to arrival we had tried calling several times to
adjust tour timings without success. Once we arrived, it became clearer why—things felt slightly disorganized at times. A minor nit for a hotel of this caliber was that missing bathroom items were not proactively replaced, something typically expected at a high-end boutique property.
Overall, Cape Cadogan is a charming, well-located boutique hotel with great history, comfort, and ambience. With a bit more polish in operations and attention to small details, it could be exceptional.
Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel, Gawie (GM) and staff, thank you for a very pleasant stay and treats at your establishment. Wow, what an honour. Your staff has been exceptionally competent and friendly. Thank you for honouring and appreciating our son Carlo Krüger, for the work he has done and will do in the future for this beautiful hotel.
Carlo, thank you for sharing your award with us, your family. It's been a weekend to remember. Lots of walking, making new friends, laughing and just being part of this beautiful place. 10/10. 🩵
This is an excellent boutique hotel. What makes this place special is not the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms, the amenities, the food, the location (which are all top notch), it’s the people. The staff is exceptional. They are all friendly, welcoming and truly focused on making your stay something special. Don’t hesitate to book, you will love it.
When we arrived in Cape Town for our first visit to the city, the hotel we had reserved was underwhelming. With the help of our travel agents, we quickly relocated to Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel - and it elevated our entire experience in the city. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable, the entire staff (housekeeping, hotel, restaurant, bar, concierge) were over the top wonderful, the location is great for getting around the city and the waterfront and the food and hospitality were absolutely top shelf! If we return to Cape Town this is the only place we will consider staying.
This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay after our very long flight from the US. It was comfortable, luxurious, the staff pleasant (Kyle is the hotel manager), adjacent to a nice restaurant with delicious breakfasts, and a great location.
This is a lovely well appointed fashionable hotel in a bunch of beautiful buildings. The rooms and public spaces are beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is very good. A rich visual experience and a lot of physical comfort.
My husband and I stayed at the truly delightful Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel for 4 nights during our trip to South Africa. We were meet at the airport by Charlton (who gave as a wonderful commentary as he drove us to the hotel, a beautiful historical building set in lovely gardens. We were greeted with a warm smile and welcoming drink by the concierge team before being shown to our beautiful, large, clean room with a lovely balcony overlooking a pool area. The complementary evening canapes were fabulous and a great opportunity to meet other guests. We also found the availability of the shuttle a convenient and safe way to travel to points of interest, and all the drivers were very friendly and courteous. Breakfasts at the adjoining Upper Union restaurant was a lovely way to start the day and we also enjoyed a superb dinner there. We would highly recommend this beautiful hotel for your stay in Cape Town.
Very comfortable bed -loved the hot water bottle touch! Breakfast was great. Good location.
Grand hotel with luxurious rooms. It was very cosy and intimate with personalized service. They even walk you to nearby restaurants with an umbrella !
The afternoon tea service with cake and sweet treats was stellar, served in silver teapot and fine china.
The evening canapés were excellent and they even made samosa and chaat especially for us.
The breakfast is made to order, so takes a little time but is well worth it.
All the furnishings and amenities are top notch.
The icing on cake was hot water bags in the bed after long day of sightseeing.
Turndown service with chocolates was an added bonus.
Remember it’s a heritage property so expect to climb a flight of stairs if you get upstairs rooms.
By far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Not hyperbole. You will not find a kinder or more accommodating staff anywhere. Everything we could possibly need was provided or found. The food at breakfast was delicious. The little chocolates at turn down were divine. I would stay here again and again.
Perfect! Delicious food - everything is just such high quality!! The extra touches, Birthday cards for my husband and extra birthday cup cakes in the room - very special!
Together with our two sons and their two best friends, we stayed at the Cadgon at the end of our South African holiday. There was nothing we could fault, we even had hot waterbottles placed in our beds when the weather turned cooler (but they weren't needed, as Brits we were used to the cooler weather ) Staff were attentive, warm and engaging, rooms sumptious , bedroom 5 was huge and we felt like royalty. Our 19 & 21 yr old sons and friends were also treated as wonderfully. Highly recommend and would definately stay again .
Cape Town is a wonderful international city. And Cape Cadogan is the perfect home base for exploration and relaxation. It is set half a block off bustling Kloof Street, home to shopping, grocery stores, and stylish restaurants. And if you have a family member interested -- the newest Museum of Illusion. It is a well-lit and patrolled area, and we felt safe walking from the hotel to dinners and to browse the avenue.
The hotel welcomes you into a gracious and beautifully decorated lobby. The highlight is a handsome bar - if you are lucky - Eugene will be mixing cocktails. He is delightful and takes great care in putting drinks together. The lobby is a nice place to relax, play games or enjoy a drink. There is also a full high tea and evening snacks/happy hour each day.
The rooms are well-appointed and nicely decorated in blues and greens. We had two rooms - one with a patio. Super comfortable beds, large bathrooms and plush robes await! The gym was small but had everything need for a vacation workout. The pools are small and not super private, but we were there in the fall with chilly temps and did not miss anything in that regard.
The staff is the highlight. We enjoyed talking with the very friendly folks who welcomed us and sent us out each day. Ezra and Kyle, especially, were very kind and even escorted us to dinner on Kloof St. our first night - just so we could get our bearings.
All in all a great place to stay in a very cool and pretty city. Highly recommend. Will return.
Sorely disappointed with the hotel.
The issues were individually not huge, but started in the beginning of our stay and in the aggregate piled up.
- we checked in at 5:30pm. It is a boutique hotel with few rooms, but they kept us waiting for 45 minutes to take us to our room. Check out is 11:00am so it isn’t like we arrived when the rooms were being serviced. We had to follow up twice before they took our bags and again before they showed us to our room.
- the room was nice, but smelled vaguely of smoke the entire time. I think it was coming through the windows?
- the room also wasn’t very soundproofed. We were right at the top of the stairs and could hear people talking from 7am every day.
- the fire alarms went off twice in the morning! No explanation. No apologies.
- they advertised same day laundry and just said to put it in the basket. We did so, and then told the reception and asked if anything else was needed. They said no. However, when we returned at night, the laundry hadn’t been taken. They said we didn’t fill out the slip detailing the exact number of items (at every other hotel we stayed at this trip, they filled it out when doing the laundry. They also never mentioned it.
- they advertised canapés at 6pm downstairs. By 6:30, we’d gone down a couple of times and there was nothing. They kept saying they were “almost there” and promised to call our room when they arrived. They never did.
As above, none of these are individually huge (except the fire alarms pre 8am….). But for a 5 star hotel and paying double our prior hotels, we would have expected better service and details.
Our stay was wonderful
The staff are warm, friendly, professional, and attentive.
All the food from their restaurant next door was exceptional and really delicious
The housekeeping staff are also amazing, warm and caring.
We highly recommend staying here
