Excelente, no le doy un 11 porque no me deja. Han sido unos días geniales, la comida genial, el hotel impecable, el personal excelente, mención especial Borja que nos atendió como para hacernos sentir en casa.
Amazing holiday - our second visit and it won’t be our last. Everything is immaculate and the staff are wonderful. The entertainment team couldn’t do enough for both adults and children. I’d particularly like to thank Rachel who stayed after her shift had finished to provide me with some information I had asked for. Also a big shout out to the staff in the restaurant at breakfast - again impeccable service, always smiling and a shout out to Patricia MZ for her absolute enthusiasm and happiness day after day. You have wonderful staff - thank you for an absolutely lovely holiday.
Don't ignore the negative reviews and don't be swayed but the number of positive ones. I was, and the negative ones were all accurate. Very disappointed and will never return.
We booked this family trip via Jet2 for our engagement celebration and babymoon for our second baby (the hotel couldn't care less). We couldn't decide between this hotel and the sister hotel a short walk away - Lopesan Costa Meloneras. The only reason we ended up going for this one was because the decor seemed a bit more interesting for my 4 year old son but my goodness did we make the wrong choice. Price wise there was little difference, too. We regretted our choice hugely but as soon as we went across the road to see the sister hotel, we regretted it even more!! The sister hotel was gorgeous, service was good and the ambience is a different class. If you are undecided between the two, definitely don't book here.
The reviews on here saying the hotel is dark and miserable was absolutely accurate. You go away for some sun and a bright, mood lifting break but this hotel was depressing. I was so pleased to leave. Also, it is increasingly annoying that these hotels advertise themselves as 5 star! What does that even mean anymore?? It was definitely not a 5 star with proper 5 star service. It's a 4 star at best.
The reviews mentioning the lack of full length mirror, low lighting and lack of kettle and tea and coffee facilities in rooms being annoying are absolutely true. It drove me mad. You put everything away in the wardrobes and you can't see anything! Can't see your chosen outfit and can't enjoy early mornings. A pointless cost saving exercise that seems low impact but makes a huge difference on one's holiday. How is this hotel advertised a 5 star hotel without a kettle and tea and coffee in the morning?! Madness.
Our room was ok; the balcony and view was sizeable and nice but the shower drains stunk and it was overall very tired. Again, definitely not the standard of a 5 star and definitely not like the pictures on their website. Beds were just ok....
Food - adequate. Again, absolutely NOT 5 star. Breakfast buffet was mayhem and small. Boring choices and ok at best. Food round the pool, the same.
The hotel staff - OK. Not particularly personable or attentive. Not a 5 star check in experience... not enough staff and without even a queue of people I was stood there for at least 15 mins waiting to check in. Other 5 star hotels I have visited, even if there is a wait time, you are taken over to a lounge area, provided with a complimentary drink while you wait for check in. This check in experience completely epitomized the service - stand and wait and we will be with you when we are free. Not good.
Oh and to top it all off. The pools are in a dire state (every pool, including the children's pool). The pool tiles are coming off left, right and centre; they even come off in your hand. My husband runs leisure centres all over the UK and if the pools were in that state, they would be closed indefinitely on the same day. My 4 year old son gashed his leg open on the broken tiles in the children's pool and so did my husband in the lazy river. My son refused to get back into the pool for the remaining 2 days of our holiday (Which ruined our holiday) and the staff were slow to respond and offered us pointless resolution options that did nothing to save our experience. The hotel Manager didn't even bother to speak with us, come to see us - nothing. Disgusting level of careless service.
Again, far from a 5 star experience. I took many pictures and have formally complained - not that that has got me anywhere. Again, another representation of service and no doubt nothing will be done. The hotel admitted they are undertaking an extensive pool maintenance programme (which says it all and admits fault) but no doubt barely anything will be done and the number of positive reviews will continue to carry the declining service this hotel provides.
Overall, we hated this hotel and couldn't wait to leave. Our whole experience ruined our celebratory trip and we are frustrated that our experience has been totally ignored.
Please don't ignore the negative reviews and keep researching!! Over time, the tide will turn with more negative reviews.
Las piscinas y los jardines
Las habitaciones un poco oscura y para el precio la esperaba mejor
Tout étais parfait!
Le seul point négatif, c’est qu’il y avait trop d’enfants (Ça reste un hôtel familial, c’est normal)
Stunning hotel… the scenery and surroundings are fabulous, there is something new around every corner. Great pools and choice of sunbeds, perfect for families, the lazy river is awesome! Loved the pool bar under the waterfall as well. Lovely helpful staff, room cleaned daily, food was fantastic and I really cannot fault this hotel.
The tiniest thing that would’ve been helpful would be a full length mirror!
I don’t write TripAdvisor reviews often but this resort absolutely deserves one…My partner and I chose to visit Gran Canaria specifically so we could stay at the Lopesan Baobab Resort, and it was the best decision we’ve ever made! We were celebrating my belated 30th birthday and also our 5 year anniversary, which I had mentioned in the notes while making the booking. The team at Hotel Baobab gave us a gorgeous room with a view, and there were chocolates and sparkling wine in the room on arrival with two separate personalised letters of congratulations to us both. And that was just our arrival!
We couldn’t quite believe the scale of the resort, and it took us at least two days to get the lay of the land and to be able to navigate through the outdoor areas, including the pools, restaurants, bars and other amenities. The lazy river pool was so much fun and the food/drink prices at the pool bars were beyond reasonable (€7.50 for a large delicious Sangria!). However, we found our favourite spot within the first 24 hours and that was the chocolate pool located at the back of the resort. This pool had direct sunlight all day long and was a lot quieter and more relaxing than the other main pool areas. Yes, kids were allowed in this area but it never felt noisy or too busy. It became our go-to tanning spot and we even became friendly with some of the other regulars who also kept choosing that area! That says a lot when you have 7 pools to choose from but you keep going back to the same one.
The landscaping and vegetation across the resort is truly something to behold. The grounds were kept in immaculate condition and we could see the gardening team out every morning gathering leaves, branches and other debris off the paths. Every day my jaw dropped as soon as I stepped outside because of how beautifully maintained the resort is. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping couldn’t be farther from the sound of city traffic in the UK that we were used to! It felt like we were in paradise every single day. I’m not normally an early riser but I didn’t want to miss a second of being in this resort so we were up by 8am every morning. To be fair, having a huge breakfast buffet waiting for us downstairs was all the motivation we needed!! The housekeeping team were so friendly and our room was refreshed every try single day with clean towels and anything else we needed, which we massively appreciated. They even mop the bedroom floors on a daily basis! We also had excellent service from the room service team (we ordered at least 3 times during our stay). The food was reasonably priced, very tasty, we were given massive portions and it always arrived on time/early.
On the two occasions that we did leave the resort, we were less than a 10-minute stroll from the prominade and main restaurants/shopping areas in Meloneras. We were also only a 12-15 min stroll from the dunes which were unbelievable at sunset.
One of the most important things for my partner and I was feeling safe and comfortable throughout our stay, and I can’t thank the staff at Hotel Baobab enough for their hospitality. As a young queer couple, we often feel judged or perceived differently and this was something I worried about a lot before our trip. I actually have no words for how completely at ease and safe we both felt throughout the entire week and every single staff member contributed to this. Whether it was the housekeeping team greeting us in the hallways, the breakfast buffet staff welcoming us each morning, or the gardening team waving and smiling each time they walked past. This was hands down the best experience of my life as a queer woman, and I cannot recommend Hotel Baobab to other LGBTQ+ visitors enough.
I could write an entire book on how amazing this resort was for us and I’ll be recommending it to friends and family for years to come. I was very emotional when we were leaving the resort and expressed my gratitude to the reception team on checkout. I still can’t believe we were so lucky. We’re already planning a trip back in October and can’t wait to be back in paradise! Thank you so much Hotel Baobab.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hotel That Listened, Improved, and Delivered an Outstanding Experience
This was our third visit to the Lopesan Baobab Resort in Maspalomas, and I felt it was important to write this review because credit should be given where it is due.
During our previous stay, we experienced a number of issues, including dirty towels, an unmade room on arrival, faulty electrical sockets, stained pool towels, and even a cockroach sighting in one of the dining areas. We had also booked a double room but were provided with two single beds pushed together, which was disappointing for a couple on holiday.
Because of those experiences, we arrived this year with a degree of apprehension and uncertainty about what we might encounter.
What we found was a hotel that had clearly listened.
The management team recognised the concerns that had been raised previously and, to their credit, took them seriously. We were kindly upgraded, but more importantly, the overall standards throughout the resort were exceptional.
The difference was remarkable.
The food was outstanding, with an excellent variety available every day. Everything was fresh, well-presented, and regularly replenished. Whenever a dish ran low, it was replaced within minutes. The restaurant operation was incredibly efficient, and any spills or messes were cleaned almost immediately.
The service throughout the resort was first class. We were not treated differently because of our previous feedback—in fact, nobody knew who we were. We were simply another couple enjoying a holiday, which made the experience feel genuine and authentic.
What impressed us just as much was the attention to detail throughout the resort. The gardening and maintenance teams work incredibly hard behind the scenes. On windy days, leaves from the palm trees would naturally be blown across pathways and public areas, yet by the following morning everything was immaculate once again. It was a pleasure to watch the staff at work each day. Grounds staff, cleaners, and maintenance teams could be seen early in the morning ensuring the resort was spotless before guests began their day.
The gardeners kept the grounds looking beautiful, window cleaners regularly removed fingerprints and marks from glass surfaces, and the cleaning teams worked tirelessly to keep walkways, pool areas, and communal spaces free from debris. There was a clear sense that cleanliness, presentation, and guest safety were taken seriously throughout the entire resort.
I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved: the management team, housekeeping staff, gardeners, maintenance personnel, pool attendants, waiting staff, chefs, cooks, cleaners, and all the behind-the-scenes employees who contribute to making this resort run so smoothly. Every member of staff we encountered was polite, professional, courteous, and genuinely willing to help.
Our room was immaculate, with excellent air conditioning, a comfortable large double bed, beautiful bathroom facilities, and consistently high housekeeping standards throughout our stay.
The resort itself remains one of the most impressive family destinations we have visited. The choice of pools is fantastic, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and there is something for everyone, whether you are travelling as a couple or with young children.
Most importantly, this review recognises something many businesses struggle to do: listen to feedback, learn from it, and improve. Lopesan Baobab Resort has done exactly that.
Many companies become defensive when criticism is offered. In contrast, this hotel appeared to reflect on the feedback, address the issues, and raise its standards. That deserves recognition.
Based on our experience this year, I can confidently say that it fully deserves its five-star rating.
We have had a wonderful holiday, created some fantastic memories, and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
We will most certainly be returning.
Thank you to everyone at Lopesan Baobab Resort for restoring our confidence and providing such a memorable holiday. Keep doing what you’re doing—it is noticed and appreciated. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hotel grounds and architecture were breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool areas were beautiful and sunbeds were always available. The drinks were also reasonably priced, taking into account the standard of the hotel, and breakfast had plenty of options. The room itself was also very spacious and lovely.
Our bedroom was located at the opposite end of the hotel to the beach exit, which made walking there quite long. I appreciate the grounds encouraged wildlife, however it was extremely loud with birds outside of our room except for when it was dark outside and we were woken most mornings by the birds. We were also next to a stairwell and the rooms were not very soundproofed which meant we were woken up most mornings by people on the stairwells and cleaners, as well as the birds. In the future, I would ask to stay in a different area of the hotel.
Pros
- Multiple Pools, plenty of sunbeds
- Excellent hotel aesthetic
- Great central Location in Meloneras
- Hotel Pili Pili Restaurant top Quality Food
- Excellent Spacious Standard Rooms (Massive Bath, Shower Wet Room)
- Hair Dryer in Room
- Infant Cot present in room on arrival
- Room Luggage Service
- Decent free Wifi around the hotel
-Hotel Gym Free however Titan Gym also on site for €35 for the week (recommend)
- Stay includes access to other local Lopsan Hotels (Costa & Villa Del Conde) Buffets and Night Show Entertainment
- Kids Baby Pool
-Infant highchairs readily available in restaurant
Cons
- Cleaners entered room with do not disturb tag on handle
- Fresh bedsheet had brown stain on it
- Cleaners left our ground floor balcony open twice
-Even with half board you’re required to pay for water/soft drinks at restaurant dinner?
-Hotel onsite shop items are almost double the price you would regularly pay.
- Main Lifts were annoying, they’d either be out of order or you’d be waiting for 10 minutes for it to arrive and when it did it would be full. We had a pushchair, but there were alot of lazy guests using the lift instead of the stairs to go up or down 1 or 2 floors.
- I wasn’t aware of ‘Premium Half Board’ when booking which means you can use the main Lopsan hotel restaurants. Standard halfboard meant we were stuck with the buffets.
Neutral
- Buffet food quality was 6/10, breakfast was repetitive with the same options everyday and there is little variation at dinner.
