Going home
We made a booking to stay for 1 night as a treat for my birthday. After arranging an early check in, I contacted the hotel on 2 seperate occasions to ensure this was all arranged, explaining we had plans and required access to the room. I was reassured on both occasions this was all arranged. Arrived at the hotel just after 10 to be told there was no room ready and no record of my request. I showed evidence of the discussions with the hotel. It’s noted the person who checked us in really did his best to try and rectify this situation and was polite and apologetic.
Waited an hour for a room to be cleaned. Went to the room, it was set up for 2 people (there was 3 of us) and the room smelt like I can only describe that someone has smeared excrement in every part of the room and bathroom. It was nauseating and eye watering. We called reception and maintenance arrived and it was clear they knew there was an issue with this room and went direct to source. He finished by saying no one can stay in the room and we’d have to be moved.
Eventually we got to another room at midday and once again, only set up for 2 people. Called reception and asked for more towels, robes etc. By now we’d had to cancel my birthday lunch reservation at a nearby restaurant, so we ordered room service, which arrived cold, not as the menu specified, with set of 1 cutlery for 3 people, no napkins and 2 sauce for 3 meals. 45 mins later we’re still waiting for the towels / robes so we can go for a swim. Call reception again and they finally arrive.
Went for a swim, pool was nice, although they forgot to put the ceiling above the pool (open pipe work etc), jacuzzi had tiles missing making it sharp and when sitting in the jacuzzi there was a dangerous open air suction, perfectly positioned to bruise my lower left leg. The sauna / steam room takes around a hour to heat up (not kept on so you have to switch it on and wait for them to heat up).
There was a heated pool good for freezing days. Also, its very accessible to shops, cafe and Rundle mall.
There’s no parking lot. However, you can avail valet for your convenience to take your car to the nearest parking. Also, the ceiling in the pool area is unfinished.

My room was very well appointed, which include a ver satisfactory work desk and chair. The bedding was excellent. I especially enjoyed the fact my room had a nice balcony and a door which was openable. The location on Hindemarsh sq was both lovely and convenient for everything I needed. The gym was more than adequate and the indoor heated swimming pool and spa was good. The in room entertainment system, including the ability to cast, nwas top rated. My 8 night stay was very good.
Uncontrolled children in swimming pool and spa area. Also both could have been a little warmer. I think there should a period in which children are banned ( and this be well advertised and monitored) as irresponsible, thoughtless and inconsiderate parents either won’t or can’t control their offspring which ruins it for other guests. Also perhaps a little more lighting in the main part of the room but only a very minor point.
Exploiting the public on the gather round
Parc restuarant food was good
Beds where tiny, parking was exspensive
The hotel is ideally located near the city centre. Check in and out was painless. We have stayed in many five star hotels across North America and the Asia Pacific and the Pullman is nearly there but not quite. The room/suite was clean and well appointed no complaints there. Housekeeping does a good job of maintaining the rooms however smaller details are lacking elsewhere. Whether that be used room service trays being left in hallways outside rooms for well over 18 hours or other items or used glasses being left in common areas for over 24 hours, these things detract from the appearance fo the hotel. We also had a poor experience in the hotel resturant one evening where our meals were forgotton. The resturant manger was lovely when addressing the issue but at this level of hotel guests expects more. If it wasn't for the Club Lounge and the lovely gentleman who was in charge there I don't think would return.
