Smallest hotel room ever seen in my life. The sheets were clean and bathroom looked ok, but bathroom had not been cleaned properly. Everything looked like it was falling apart, mattress was busted, very poor noise insulation (could hear full conversation from the girls in a room down the hall)...dissapointing
Did not enter as there were fights and police outside. Did not appear to be a one time thing. Not a safe or comfortable place to stay whatsoever.
Hello it’s was very nice !! The service was great and customer service was great also
Left early. One employee was insane and knocked on my door to yell at me. Save yourself and go elsewhere. Not worth paying less.
This place was actually fine, better than I had anticipated. The guy running the place was really nice and helpful. It seems as though he is all the staff, he cleans the rooms and checks people in, he also lives there. The rooms weren’t the cleanest but they were fine. Overall everything was perfectly fine and reasonable
Good value for price point. Close (walking distance) to St. Catherine Street and LGBT-friendly businesses. Bed was comfy for two people. Bathroom was a bit on the small end, but functional (even with the weird toilet handles).
Parked in a metered spot across street, which was pretty easy, meters were free after 2100/9 pm (granted this was a Monday night in late August). Check-in was listed at 1800/6 pm but I got in later.
I would've appreciated an extra towel or two but not the end of the world. Some reviews on other sites made Hotel Star Montreal seem terrible, but the price was good and it met expectations. Many reviews talked about thin walls, but that was not a problem (again it was a Monday night).
It's not fancy by any means, and if you're looking for a hotel with a gym/pool/bar/parking structure etc., then you might search elsewhere. If you're looking for a well-priced place that meets basic needs, then this is a good option.
This is an excellent place to stay if you're looking for affordable accommodation in a great location.
The A/C works well, there is cable television (although it's SD) and a fridge in the room that will freeze beverages if you set it cold enough.
This is NOT the Ritz! Don't expect to live like a monarch here, but the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are a good size.
Suggestions to the property include replacing all the electrical outlets as they are loose, and perhaps painting the handrails black as to not show the dirt of people touching them all the time. I can "fix up" these problems, contact me if you like.
Trash cans all over the place overflowing, in the lobby old microwaves and inadequate customer service. There is rarely an employee around the place, it seems like this place is run by one person. And when the employee do arrive they are very reluctant to help you if you get confused in any way. Also, don't ask for early check-in unless you are "a month early", as I discovered through a phone call with the "hotel" owner where he ranted for 20 seconds straight and then closed the phone. You get what you get considering the price-point. Not very spacious as the photos show also. Overall, don't book this place unless you have absolutely nowhere else to go, there are much better options.
Ran down motel. This place should not be classified as a hotel
This place is not as pictured! It looked like your standard old building in Montreal when we arrived. When we were checking in, we were having a decent chat with the person at the front desk since we are both from the same part of town in Ottawa, he jokingly said he would give us a clean room. Thought nothing of it at the time as the lobby seemed clean, but dated in terms of decor. If what we got was a clean room, I can't even imagine what the dirty room would have looked like. I'm not even sure where to begin. The balcony felt like it was going to fall of the side of the building if a strong breeze came by. The mini fridge was not plugged in and when opened smelt like rotting fish; we had to air out the room. The walls and baseboards were filthy, from what looks like years of dust and grim. The shower was so moldy and full of soap scum you felt like you needed to take another shower right after. I would have taken photos but we didn't want any reminders of how filthy the place was. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very very very poor customer service...I rate them as zero/10
Very welcoming the man who owns the hotel went above and beyond upgraded our room to a bigger room free of charge because we had a lot of luggage with us. He also walked us to the bus stop helping us with our luggage at 2am overall a very pleasant stay.
I like everything about this hotel, the locarion, price, the employees are very friendly and respectful. Great place
Owner wasnt very friendly I found overall, assistant was better.
This place is a real garbage, dirty and horrible. I planned to stay two nights because at 2mn walk to a conference but I end up leave this dirty place right at arrival. Avoid it EVEN IF IT’S FREE
Very discreet and good services , the place is clean
Front desk man was very nice. Odd check-in only after 6pm (despite the confirmation saying 2pm). Common areas and bathroom are ... well NOT clean. Not at all what is expected with this rating. Street side loud. Curtains have cuts/holes. Bed comfy.
No working tv set and intermittent wifi. The staff was however great!
Hotel has the wrong name. Hotel Stay instead of Hotel Star. Room are up a dangerous stairs and have ancient key locks. The beds are old and there is no housekeeping service. Three days we were there no one came to change the towels or provide toiletries. A very disappoint experience.
The neighborhood is nasty with hobos, beggars, and urine stench.
A very disappointing experience. I cannot recommend this dump to anyone.
