I regularly have to stay locally for work and more often than not venture a little further afield to stay however, I ended up giving the Alton House another go recently.
Whilst the service has improved since my last visit, I am sorry to say that the rooms haven't. They feel dirty and tired and are in need of a makeover. My window didn't fully close so it was constantly drafts all night. The double bed is so small and just one pillow per person.
The iron left black marks all over my white top.
The room was fine, bit disappointing they do not do food on a Sunday evening. I had a 6.5hr drive to the hotel so the last thing I wanted to do was go out to find somewhere to eat, so didn't bother. Breakfast was fine and location good

Our room needs some repairs, mattress was uncomfortable. We didn't order breakfast, but did go down, the member of staff made us feel like we should not have breakfast as we had not booked.
