Overall a good stay, but with a few frustrations that stopped this being a 5-star experience.
Worth noting upfront that the hotel still has smoking rooms, and allocation is treated as a preference rather than a guarantee. If you’re a non-smoker, the smell really does hit hard. On this stay I was given a non-smoking room as requested, but it’s something future guests should be aware of.
I arrived around 1pm and was initially told that only a twin room was available. I’m a Bonvoy Gold member and had requested a king room in advance, which I was told had been noted — although it clearly hadn’t, as I had to ask whether the room was twin or king. I was told I could wait for a king, but no indication was given as to how long that might be. At the same time, a coworker checking in without status was allocated a king non-smoking room immediately, which was confusing.
When I queried whether the twin was at least a Gold upgrade, I was told no — but then the agent immediately rechecked and allocated me an upgraded non-smoking room on the executive floor. It felt like something I wouldn’t have received had I not pushed, which was disappointing.
I then tried to use the executive lounge and was told it wasn’t included with the upgrade. The charge was nominal so I paid it, but when I replied to a proactive guest relations email asking what the actual upgrade benefit was (given the room itself was identical), the team handled it well and waived the lounge charge. Credit where it’s due — that was sorted efficiently.
Operationally, the elevators are a real pain point. There are only three serving a large hotel of around 35 floors, and waits can be significant at peak times.
On the positive side, Kangan restaurant is exceptional — both food and service were standout and a genuine highlight. Breakfast was of the usual reliable Westin standard.
Personally, I still slightly prefer JW Marriott Juhu, and while the café at Westin Powai Lake is better suited to working, this hotel doesn’t really have enough café seating for that use case.
A solid hotel with great dining and comfortable rooms, but front desk consistency and lift capacity hold it back.
My family had an enjoyable stay at the Westin Garden City and utilized many of the amenities. Our favorite was the excellent buffet services in Seasonal Tastes.
I had a great experience with Arabinda Nayak, the Loss Prevention Associate at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. He was highly professional, attentive, and handled all security matters with discretion and efficiency. His quick response to issues and clear communication made me feel safe and well-cared for during my stay. It’s clear he takes his role seriously and contributes significantly to the hotel’s excellent reputation. Highly recommend The Westin Mumbai Garden City for its outstanding safety and security standards.
Really good food and experience, Ishwar and Vinay are great servers and the Sous Chef (the lovely lady, I dont remember her name) is spectacular!
Good variety, good quality.
We had two nights booked for the executive suite using bonvoy membership vouchers (about 50% off on the suite room), this was gifted to us by my brother who is a member. At check in they told us that the two nights would be clubbed and billed together if that was okay with us, we agreed. The next day, different staff members have called us continuously for a voucher we had already provided on day 1 but their staff had missed checking. After dinner at 10pm we were unable to access our room because the key card stopped working, we called from the phone outside the lift on the 29th floor and the response was you must have not checked in/checked out again. Again the person who eventually came up to let us into our room asked for a voucher that had been provided. We slept this off, next morning their manager calls us (to apologise I presume?) and states the complaint wrongly. When I go in for a shower, the water that comes out of the drainage is as shown in the photo. The first day i took a shower after the spa so hadn't had a chance to use this. We called their staff to address this - extremely poor turnaround time. They are unaware if their engineers are on premises or not and apparently they can't do anything till they investigate it. We waited 45 minutes for some resolution and left when none was forthcoming. Their Asst Housekeeping Manager laughed on seeing the black water in the shower.
This amongst several other issues - cold, stale food for room service, feeling unwell after eating their food and so on.
Overall, extremely poor management and staff training. The water drainage issue etc are also health and safety violations of government regulations. I strongly recommend not going to Westin Goregaon, especially if you are using the bonvoy membership.
