I booked Hôtel de France Gare de Lyon Bastille through Booking.com. A few days before arrival, they asked me to confirm my reservation through a strange email address outside the normal Booking.com process. Booking.com warns guests not to do this. I tried calling and messaging the hotel several times, but they did not answer or respond. Then my reservation was cancelled only 3 days before my trip, leaving me without accommodation at the last minute. Very unsafe and unreliable experience.

Pros:

The hotel does not honor reservations. After you book through Booking.com, they ask you to cancel your reservation and pay a higher price on their own website. They even threaten that your reservation will not be honored if you refuse to do so. This is an unacceptable and misleading business practice.

Good one-night stay close to the Lyon station
Pros:

The proximity to Gare de Lyon (10mins if with large suitcase). Professional staff, compact yet all-inclusive room. Bed and shower are extremely comfortable. The hotel offers baggage storage. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.

Cons:

If you wish to go for sightseeing, it is a little further from the city centre.

Pros:

Location very near Gare de Lyon. Very clean but small room but worked well for us.

Our room and ensuite was exceptional
Very comfortable bed. Ensuite spacious and well equipped. Refurbished only 4 years ago the decor was very much in our taste
Location was good. Staff were helpful. Storage facility was secure enabling walk around le Marais.
Air conitioning was invaluable.

Cons:

Altthough the breakfast was adequate, the continental option could have been more extensive.

Great overnight stay, good location and facilities
Pros:

Lovely little hotel with a great room, good size and a view over the street. Good facilities including tea, coffee and biscuits in the room which was a bonus.
Easy check in and walking distance to the station.

Cons:

Nothing - we loved it.
