Warm, comfortable, cosy, lots of character. Perfectly located in old Pulborough with lots of footpaths all around including just a 10 minute walk to the station.
Nothing
Lovely old room, comfy bed, though curtains etc a bit damp. Nice modern bathroom and plenty of towels.
Good breakfast menu and friendly service.
Thought hotel was open from 3 - had suggested 5pm arrival but in the event we arrived early to find it closed. Had the feeling all weekend that (perhaps b/c it was still February) the hotel wasn't quite up to speed.
Had checked Google maps but not Street View so didn't realise the hotel is at the top of a steep hill out of the main village! - and no path useable after dark.
Good view from room - excellent breakfast
Mattress uncomfortable
Set in the most amazing scenery and it was so quiet! The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The chap who runs it was super friendly and couldn’t do enough to help!
Nothing ☺️
Old world Charm, made to feel welcome. Great host and breakfast was lovely. Very close to a pub. So much nicer than the big brands… Great nights sleep…Only 3 minutes away from my meeting.

The breakfast was delicious food. A choice of hot freshly cooked food.
Also available was cereal. Fruit.yogurt
Juices and hot drinks
All was very accommodating
Breakfast poor. Toast like cardboard and eggs revolting. Dining room light and airy .
Pretty shabby throughout although we asked for just a standard room it really was just above basic. Could do with some good maintenance! Travel Lodge win hands down for excellent basic accommodation. Unable to comment on superior rooms.
Great choices for breakfast and quality ingredients too. We loved the interior design and the fact that you could buy items around the house and room. Great idea! Lovely Owners, very welcoming.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
Large room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff
A beautiful looking hotel.
Lovely friendly welcome. The room was clean, tidy and a very nice size.
Breakfast was quick to come out even though we were a big group and had awkward orders! Good quality ingredients and very tasty.
Definitely worth a stay for the price and we would return.
Only thing I personally didn't like was the mattress due to the springs but still had a good sleep so it can't of been that bad! Just a bit hard for my personal taste.
The hotel was very quaint excellent staff lovely breakfast, I stayed in a superior room which was large and the bed was so comfortable.

Excellent hosts
Chequers is in a beautiful rural setting with stunning walks on the doorstep and well located for the town centre, my wife and I stayed in the double room with four poster bed was a very comfortable and charming beamed room with the most stunning view of the countryside to wake up to.
The fabulous freshly cooked breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory overlooking the garden, the couple who own the hotel were friendly and welcoming, we will definately return to this wonderful place in the future.
