White Hart Braintree by Greene King Inns

Nice hotel, in the middle of Braintree.
Check in was easy, room was a hike, especially after a knee replacement but it was neat and tidy albeit dated in furnishings and being on the top floor which was quite hot.
Restaurant and bar were as expected, food was really tasty , staff attentive and polite.
Shame the cost was not B&B for the price paid, but all round a nice, easy stay.

Fantastic staff, clean, would stay there again

Very convenient for town centre, with free parking. It is an old building and the layout reflects this. Narrow staircases, no lift, I struggled with a case and bag. Room ok, shower over bath, bed comfortable enough. Overall, stay ok and reasonable value.

Room

Overall I found the White Hart excellent value for money. It's a dated property, but the room had been painted and the bathroom spruced up not long ago, so it was neat and clean. The parking area/entrance was a bit cramped and could do with some sprucing up.
The breakfast was great value for a cooked breakfast and continental selection, and the cinnamon bun was delicious!

I think the hotel bedroom was of a very high standard regarding decoration and cleanliness.

Staff in dining room were great. Very helpful and friendly.

The cold water tap didn’t work so we had to use scalding hot water for washing. Also the iron left rusty stains on my shirt when using it

Lovely central location for are trip , and accommodating on early breakfast issue , due to early departing

Ask for a room in the “old section” if you want character!

Good points:
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Not so good points:
The only window in the bedroom was secured so it could only be opened by 4-5 inches.
Had to leave the fan on at all times - noise made sleeping difficult.
Hot water was dangerously hot.
Water from the cold tap was affected by hot water from the mixer tap.
Tea cups were dirty on arrival.

Stayed here before ideal location for Braintree town centre with its many good pubs and restaurants. The bar is always busy and the restaurant is usually well attended

I came home to find the water cut off in my house - it was marvellous to be able to just go up the road and know that I’d be comfortable at the White Hart.

Excellent hostelry with good food and beer and, above all, most attentive staff

I arrived on Sunday after a lot of driving. I thank the manager whom I asked if they did Lasagne, she said yes and kindly put the order through to the chef, which was a good job as they were a chef down and had to close the kitchen early. Breakfast was lovely on both mornings. Although again on Mon night the restaurant closed at 7pm due to only having 1 chef. I went across the road to Mezze, the food was lovely :-). Cant fault the staff and my room was lovely and bright and very clean. Would definitely stay again. :-)

The Hotel was ideal for our needs, roughly 10/12 minutes from Railway Station, Shops close by, quiet and a comfortable stay, would stop here again.

Lovely hotel and the receptionist is suck a lovely and smiling lady just makes a big difference.

Didn’t feel price was right from two rooms stayed in and no breakfast had to pay. And wasn’t felt welcomed when when arrived for breakfast.

Couldn’t ask for a better 4 days with my partner. Staff are brilliant the service is brilliant haven’t got one bad thing to say. Definitely be coming again
