Bath in the room, lovely food and drinks, beautiful old building. Archie the waiter was so accommodating, very friendly and courteous. Good value for money
Decor in room bit dated, needs refurbing, felt worn and needs updating.
Beautiful setting and excellent food. Great value for money.
Lovely location. Plenty of free parking. Character building and superior bedroom. Tasty cooked breakfast with options. Room 4 spacious and comfortable though dark and lighting could be improved
We were advised breakfast was served until 10am. on checking in. It even says 11am on the hotel website. However on arriving for breakfast at 9.15am on Monday we were told breakfast finished at 9am. Staff did agree to provide a cooked breakfast but fruits and pastries had been cleared away and were not offered. Coffee was stewed and cold on both mornings. Room 4 is dark and well populated with ladybirds though it is characterful with all the dark wood panelling and leaded mullions windows
This is a little bit on the budget side but it's so cute and the location and history is beautiful. The staff are friendly and I'll definitely be back
The food is a bit naff. So sorry but please try and improve. You have so much potential to be a destination spot and so much competition locally. We've eaten here a few times and always a bit underwhelming. Today I had eggs and avocado for breakfast. The avo was so so so cold verging on when the fridge freezes things. Its a small thing and easy to fix with a bit of care.
The buildings and grounds are very picturesque and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant setting was very pleasing and the quality of food on offer was good. The history of the site is very interesting. Overall for the price paid we were very pleased and would certainly consider staying again when we next visit the Great Central Railway.
We stayed in the Court Mews; the room was a bit on the small side, but as it was only a place to sleep that was acceptable. Overall for the price paid we were very pleased and would certainly consider staying again when we next visit the Great Central Railway.
It needs a big re furb
Location and the building
We stayed in room 9 and upgraded but it was freezing cold in that room even tho 2 radiators on continuous
The property is kept well and had lots of charm. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The room we were given was tastefully decorated and spacious
The senior staff looked scruffy - hair and outfit. The waiting on staff were dressed in smart uniforms, and looked much more professional. The senior staff’s appearance let the hotel down.
It's such a wonderful old building that retains its charm and character while feeling well used and lived in and as a hotel represents incredible value.
I loved it all!
Breakfast was good and hotel relaxing
No cold water in bathroom for cold drink as ran like warm
Breakfast was delicious
Beautiful venue and location.
Rooms and bathrooms are a bit dated.
The general surroundings and the breakfasts.
Luxurious (supposedly) historical surroundings with run-of-the mill or even poor pub food and laizzi faire staff attitudes that contrasted markedly with nearby The Griffin Inn at Swithland, and Miller & Carter also in Rothley, which were both outstandingly good. Compared with the also nearby Manor Hotel at Quorn, it performed poorly for food and quality of room..
Mould in grouting around bath and no cold water in the bath tap spoke of inadequate maintenance. Cigarette ends on the Terrace, in place over 3 days illustrated further.
Breakfast and dinner were superb! The room was clean and staff were lovely!
Wifi was a little spotty and wish it had been a walk in shower but other than that, perfect!
The building and grounds were amazing
Interiors a little ‘tired’
Could be a fantastic luxury hotel
Bar area was very basic and decor tired looking
The staff on checkin and check out were nice.
I was housed in the main hotel. The room was small and stuffy. It was hot outside and the window in the room was small. The room and bathroom were very dated. The place could do with a refurb.
It is an old building with great setting. Lots of history connected to the building. Staff helpful and welcoming.
Some areas need an upgrade. Garden area is ok but could be improved. Some area are tired and need sprucing up.
