Stay made extra special by the kind and helpful staff and perfect location for exploring the area.
Pros:

All staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular Carol made our day with her cheery personality and kindness at breakfast. Location is perfect. We will come back.

Cons:

Nothing disliked -the car park is very good but some spots are a bit tight if you have a big car!

Superb location, good breakfast, friendly staff - especially the lady at breakfast!
Pros:

The room was wonderful, spacious with a fabulous view all round. Windows opened and there was a fan too. The bed was big and very comfortable.

Cons:

Water was too hot in the bathroom, very easy scolding. Could do with a new carpet and a bit of an update. Fabulous curtains in keeping with the period. Superb location

Pub-style hotel with decent view.
Pros:

Well located with great views.
Lovely patio area.
Decent sized rooms

Cons:

There was no distinguishing between hotel residents and the public.
Unable to put drinks food on hotel tab. All pay-as-you-go. This was particularly irritating.
Meals were average and food was from a centralised Green King menu

Overall a very pleasant stay in a central location, with the bonus of freelang.
Pros:

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice and everything was well stocked. We were given a room with a small balcony which allowed us to get more air because it was hot, which was lovely, however I think it would have benefitted from some voile or net curtains as we overlooked the beer gardens.

Cons:

There were some very noisy teenagers running around the garden, screaming and shouting until very late one evening, which disturbed our sleep.
The beds were OK but not the comfiest.

Bliss
Pros:

We had a fabulous stay at the Royal and will definitely return. We were fortunate to get a room with a view of the beautiful Wye river and valley, with a balcony and floor to ceiling windows that allowed a fresh breeze in. We didn’t want to leave the room! The staff were second to none - friendly, helpful and easygoing.

The booking.com description or photos don’t do this place justice. We were wowed by it. Cracking breakfast too. Thank you!

Cons:

Nothing

Lovely staff, lovely views, lovely hotel, would definitely return.
Pros:

We had the most amazing experience at breakfast each day with the lovely server Carol. She was so welcoming and lovely and by the end of our 3 day stay she had remembered our breakfast orders. The food was absolutely lovely, my husband had a Sunday roast that he says was the best he has possibly ever had. The bed was really comfortable as my husband struggles to sleep in hotel beds but was actually able to in this one! The room was comfortable and we liked that the bathroom was tucked around the corner from the bed, allowing more privacy. The whole staff were phenomenal and friendly, as well as really helpful. The staff were really helpful in giving us some tubs of ice to allow for cold drinks even if we went down a few times on one day.

Cons:

On one occasion we had run out of toilet rolls and it was difficult to find the cleaning team to get some new ones. Would have been nicer to have a more convenient way to refill water bottles and a better fan to cool down the room because of the heatwave the room got really warm with not many features to cool it or ourselves down.

Pros:

Super friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating and flexible

Cons:

Rooms were very hot but the weather was hot and it's an old building so fairly understandable. The ensuite had no window so was unbearably hot.
