All staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular Carol made our day with her cheery personality and kindness at breakfast. Location is perfect. We will come back.
Nothing disliked -the car park is very good but some spots are a bit tight if you have a big car!
Fantastic location. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Bed was really comfy.

The room was wonderful, spacious with a fabulous view all round. Windows opened and there was a fan too. The bed was big and very comfortable.
Water was too hot in the bathroom, very easy scolding. Could do with a new carpet and a bit of an update. Fabulous curtains in keeping with the period. Superb location
Well located with great views.
Lovely patio area.
Decent sized rooms
There was no distinguishing between hotel residents and the public.
Unable to put drinks food on hotel tab. All pay-as-you-go. This was particularly irritating.
Meals were average and food was from a centralised Green King menu
Beautiful hotel with lovely views of the river Wye . Staff were extremely friendly and made our visit delightful.
Lovely large double room with a fabulous view across the river Wye.
Excellent food at dinner and breakfast .
It would have been better with a lift .
Excellent location and panoramic view. Great helpful staff
Creaky floors
Breakfast and dinner really nice. Staff very helpful
Continental B/f a/v; was very good. All staff excellent, catering, cleaning and reception.
Everything OK for us. Parking is very tight.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice and everything was well stocked. We were given a room with a small balcony which allowed us to get more air because it was hot, which was lovely, however I think it would have benefitted from some voile or net curtains as we overlooked the beer gardens.
There were some very noisy teenagers running around the garden, screaming and shouting until very late one evening, which disturbed our sleep.
The beds were OK but not the comfiest.
Staff were accommodating and polite. Breakfast was really good alot of choice on offer. Room was very clean and tidy. We had great views from our river view room.

How near to the high street it was
Staff are excellent. Lovely lady at breakfast at breakfast is brilliant (Carol?)!
The staff and food were great, that’s what made are stay really good.
Our first room was too hot and the fans didn’t help due to lack of windows opening.
We had a fabulous stay at the Royal and will definitely return. We were fortunate to get a room with a view of the beautiful Wye river and valley, with a balcony and floor to ceiling windows that allowed a fresh breeze in. We didn’t want to leave the room! The staff were second to none - friendly, helpful and easygoing.
The booking.com description or photos don’t do this place justice. We were wowed by it. Cracking breakfast too. Thank you!

We had the most amazing experience at breakfast each day with the lovely server Carol. She was so welcoming and lovely and by the end of our 3 day stay she had remembered our breakfast orders. The food was absolutely lovely, my husband had a Sunday roast that he says was the best he has possibly ever had. The bed was really comfortable as my husband struggles to sleep in hotel beds but was actually able to in this one! The room was comfortable and we liked that the bathroom was tucked around the corner from the bed, allowing more privacy. The whole staff were phenomenal and friendly, as well as really helpful. The staff were really helpful in giving us some tubs of ice to allow for cold drinks even if we went down a few times on one day.
On one occasion we had run out of toilet rolls and it was difficult to find the cleaning team to get some new ones. Would have been nicer to have a more convenient way to refill water bottles and a better fan to cool down the room because of the heatwave the room got really warm with not many features to cool it or ourselves down.
Room was very good,food great
Perfect location. Great views out of my window. Wonderful breakfast. Evening meals great. Friendly staff. I was very satisfied with my stay.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating and flexible
Rooms were very hot but the weather was hot and it's an old building so fairly understandable. The ensuite had no window so was unbearably hot.
Location,kind staff
Partner put the bed blanket on top of wardrobe and the dust that rained down was horrific. Apart from that very clean
