The Bull Hotel Long Melford by Greene King Inns

We had a nice, cosy and quiet night’s sleep. The room is lovely, the bathroom is a little dated.
There are loads of delicious breakfast options.
Not the hotel’s fault, but we mad major issues arranging a taxi to the event we were attending, so if you need a taxi I recommend booking well in advance rather than on the day. We used a taxi company called ‘The Firm’ and they were excellent, even though they couldn’t drop us off (and we had to take our car) they picked us up from the event and took us back in the morning to collect our car.

Great staff , lovely sunday roast , cosy hotel . Stayed a few times and always nice . Only downside was it was chilly , need to put the heating on earlier in the day . Would recommend and will be back again .

Staff are very friendly, food is very good and reasonably priced. The building is lovely and full of character, however the rooms are simply decorated. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, there were no parking spaces when we arrived in the afternoon so we had to park down the street, but parking is free in Long Melford so this wasn't a problem.

The food was good enough, but not excellent.

The room, in the newer part of the building, would've been fine, but we stayed during hot weather and the room was hell at night, even with the windows fully open 👿 Just awful; really, really horrible. I guess the window catches the sun in the afternoon and evening, but we couldn't get to sleep until five in the morning the room temperature just didn't drop. A fan, with moving louvre, was provided, but it didn't do much to alleviate the insane oven effect. Top quality insulation apparently 😆

I'd happily stay at another time of year, but never again in hot weather. Avoid if temperatures are >27°C in the afternoon in June.

A minor niggle: the shower is constrained to the width of the narrow bath, and felt cramped.

A wonderful historic hotel. Great ambience and a good degree of quirkiness. Staff were friendly and efficient. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great stay in The Bull for a quick trip to Long Melford. Lovely hotel, great staff, lovely evening meal in the Courtyard.

The staff were very welcoming. The rooms are comfortable but very tired. Good for some where to put your head down.
