Loved the classic decor. Really close to the purple MRT line, so a convenient location. The hotel restaurant was nice and they offered complimentary cocktails which was very nice.
Room service is not offered.
Super friendly staff.
It all felt a little tight.
Pod 39 in NYC was smaller but felt less cramped.
Too much "india" for the sake of India.
The furniture didn't fit the room.
Unique decor, novelty bunk beds, excellent staff.
The suite was still a very small room so was difficult with 4 people and large suitcases.
Unique style, my kids loved the king bunk beds, staff were super helpful and friendly, great location, delicious breakfast
I like the location,
Only bad thing is its very compact for the people with kids
friendly staff
same breakfast repeated. online orice was higher than walkin evrn tho rooms were booked months before the stay date
Good
We recently stayed at Serangoon House Singapore and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet the expectations set for a property of this nature. If you are looking for a standard of service comparable to a Marriott or similar international chain, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
The rooms are exceptionally small—so tight that the physical layout is impractical. In the higher-category 'Maharani' room we were moved to, the space was so restricted that if the ladder for the bunk bed is in place, you cannot open the cupboard doors. Furthermore, we encountered significant plumbing issues in our initial room, which necessitated a room change. Guests should be prepared for extremely limited floor space and potential maintenance inconsistencies.
The dining experience was a major letdown. Despite booking inclusive of breakfast and dinner, we were met with a rigid "set menu" format that was not clearly disclosed during the booking process. The breakfast quality was poor, relying heavily on pre-packaged/ready-made items rather than fresh, high-quality preparation. While the dinner quality improved slightly after raising concerns with management, the overall dining restriction—even during buffet services, which are still essentially "set"—is not what one expects from a premium booking.
The hotel appears to rely on a student-staff model, and it is evident that they lack adequate professional training and experience. While they are clearly trying, they are not equipped to handle guests with the level of service one would expect at this price point.
The one redeeming factor was the Hotel Manager, Karen. She was spectacular, professional, and genuinely empathetic to our situation. She did her best to mitigate the issues, and her handling of our concerns was the only reason our stay was salvageable.
Conclusion:
In summary, the property prioritizes aesthetics over guest comfort and operational efficiency.
Decor and lovely staff
Breakfast was ridiculously overpriced and prices were not clearly displayed
