Beautiful location, excellent service, great food, amazing sightseeing and trekking. Holiday of a lifetime. Thank you to the team at Hotel Rio Serrano!
Nice location, spent 2 days at Rio Serrano hotel, first day in room not facing the mountains not worth the price, next day upgraded to the 3th floor, room facing the mountains was beautiful. Service was excellent , food was ok, the Cordero al Palo was delicious
The hotel, amenities and the staff are excellent! I do not remember everyone by name but each and every staff member I met was very sweet and helpful!
Only The Massif who I booked the transfers with did not coordinate as well. But really not a complaint. The food is excellent, service even better and rooms really nice! You can sit and gaze at the Paine Massif all day from your room or the common lounges!
The Mary Poppins of Chilean hotels- practically perfect in every way!
From the moment we arrived this hotel was definitely going to be different! Reception were great especially at understanding my problems with leaving a credit card deposit. (I only bought 1 producer card on holiday and the pin did not work . I rely on Google wallet... Not a good idea!)
Our classic room is fairly small but has everything that we need. It seems that the classic rooms get lovely views of the car park. The shower is overhead only not good for the ladies.
To incredibly unique features of all the hotels that we have been in Chile... The electrical sockets in the bedrooms take a UK plug! And there are water machines in receptions and the corridors which dispense water cold, hot and even sparkling!
The bar, which has an incredibly good range of drinks , also serves snack meals ranging from burgers through to pulled beef sandwiches , pastas and pizzas. If you do not like lager type beers try the Calafate amber... very good! The upstairs restaurant is a la carte but do you really need it?
The views from the bar are to die for and reminded us of sacred valley in Peru with the views from the Inkaterra Hacienda.
American tour parties benefit from barbecued lamb outside on the terrace at $100 a plate. When they have finished hotel guests can benefit from the leftovers free of charge!
The hotel has machines in the corridors which can dispense chilled water , sparkling water , hot water and room temperature water at the press of a button. Bottles can be borrowed from the reception machines. Other hotels can't even give you a bottle of water in your room......
There is a quite wonderful spa complete with a free for guests pool. Rooms have both robes and slippers. Check out time is a very civilized 12:00 noon.
If you are unable or do not like to give them $300 on a card when you check in you can pay for everything as you go in Chilean pesos using contactless.
Every single member of staff that we have coming contact with has been delightful. They are friendly and appear happy with their employment. They are credit to the management.
Breakfast is good with nice crispy bacon! The only improvement would be a better selection of breads instead of the sliced loaf type. This was even worse on our second day. There is fruit, cereals, cooked food and the usual cold meats and a very good selection of cheeses. Whilst the coffee comes out of a machine it is a lavazza and is very good.
47min walk to and back from the point of confluence in the rivers... Turn right out of the hotel and follow the right hand trails.
Lovely stay at Hotel Río Serrano. Beautiful & incredibly peaceful setting, surrounded by wide open landscapes that really let you slow down. Rooms were clean & comfortable…perfect after long hiking days. We stayed on a full-board plan, with all meals & drinks taken care of. Packed breakfasts & lunches can be arranged if heading out early, which was very convenient. The food was great & the massage after the Base Torres hike was absolutely out of this world…one of the best ways to recover. Friendly staff and a relaxed, well-taken-care-of stay. After 4 days of comfort, we were sad to leave.
Super hotel and super hikes with the guides
We staid 3 nights. 4 nights had been better as there are so many good tours and activities on the hotel list.
Perfect organization and all local guides are superb.
We had good weather - very important
This place is awesome!!! Rio Serrano has now become our favorite property. The natural beauty obvious, but the detail, cleanliness, attentive staff all around were extra special! They make people feel welcomed and cared for. The food is amazing! We were constantly in awe. I highly recommend doing the full board option.
We met new friends in both other travelers and staff. The care for the environment and region was also very special. We can't wait to come back!
Our room was a Superior view and well worth it. You almost don't want to leave your room with such a view! Very well decorated. The special tea when we came back from a late excursion was very kind.
The Massif tours are very well done. Guides were very knowledgeable. You really learn a lot and feel fully cared for. The extras at the top of the hikes are simple kind.
We did use the spa for a treatment and they too go above and beyond.
The only negative was in the initial reservation process. I know it is a busy time but days and a week would go by without acknowledgment. To the point, I ended up booking directly online when I saw an opening of an extra day that the agent didn't have before. Then with booking excursions for us, the lag in response cost us hikes we were told were available and paid for that then were subsequently told they were sold out.
Otherwise we seriously think the world of this place and the staff. Well worth the extra you spend! We also went to other parts of the region and stayed multiple places on our 2 week trip and nothing came close to Rio Serrano.
We had 2 superior rooms side by side, at the end of a long corridor in the corner. The corner room has a balcony which overlooked the river so had the best views. We were on full-board & ate at both the restaurant (which required dinner reservations in advance) as well as the bar. The food in both places was superb although personally, I preferred the bar fare. There was also food samplers of roasted lamb on 2 evenings during our stay. The lamb was very tender and delicious! Unfortunately we didn’t have time to use any other hotel facilities as every day was too packed with action in the Torres del Paine national park. Wish we could have stayed longer…
We stayed in a Standard Room on a Full Board basis for 900+ USD per day, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the price tag.
The room felt small for the premium price we paid even with the full board. The main issue was the layout and lack of views; there were no side windows, only a roof window. This made the space feel enclosed and disconnected from the surroundings.
At nearly a thousand dollars a day, I would have expected a better experience and a proper view. The Full Board inclusion was convenient, but the room itself lacked the luxury and atmosphere necessary to justify the high cost.
Summary: Poor value for money. If you value natural light and a sense of space, the standard room may leave you disappointed
Hotel Rio Serrano was a great hotel. We chose the All-Inclusive option which made organizing the transfers and excursions very simple and straightforward. The room was spacious and very clean. The views of the mountains were incredible. The hotel is located just outside the national park but there seemed to be no difference in the atmosphere. All of the staff were attentive and spoke English, which also made things easy. Would absolutely recommend.
From a breathtaking location that includes view of an awe inspiring mountain range with a meandering river in front and a glimpse of Grey lake, it transports you to a different world right on arrival. Then, you meet with warm service and well appointed rooms. You have a choice of two for your food and both serve great stuff. On top, the resort also organized open air grilling on all days. We also had a great 31st dinner with live music.
The Massif did a massive job in organizing and executing all the trips that we undertook in and around the National Park. Starting from transport to guides to lunch everything was well taken care of.
I would highly recommend this resort to everyone.
This hotel is located in the middle of the Torres Del Paine National Park and is quite remote. I only stayed here for 2 nights as part of an organised tour. There is nothing else around apart from some ranch style places where you can do horse riding and I'm guessing there looked like there may have been accommodation for back packing travellers. The hotel has everything you will need for your stay, so no need to look for outside restaurants (which I don't think there were any) I ate both nights in the bar and the food was typical bar style food and very good. There was also a good atmosphere in the bar area and as a solo traveller I appreciated the opportunity to speak with other guests.
There is also a fantastic spa area, where you can book treatments. The pool is really good with loungers all around looking out onto the amazing view of the mountains.
My room was on the side of the hotel that looked out onto the spectacular mountains and I was glad I paid the upgrade to have this view. The room was quite large with comfortable beds with the usual bathroom amenities and coffee tray. You don't get any tea options, so you may have to ask if you need tea.
Nice hotel with beautiful views and very close to Torres del Paine. Lovely pool and spa.
Food is OK but not great. Service is very choppy and half of the staff are not well trained so I would avoid NY and other high seasons as they are at full capacity and with poor service experience drops dramatically.
And rooms (standard and classic) are very tiny, dated and with no privacy. We booked 2 rooms together for a family and they put us in floor 4 and 1, despite confirming with front desk to be next or as close as possible 2 months prior to arrival.
For the price and proposal as a high-end hotel, this was not the case. I would recommend staying somewhere else.
The hotel and the food is great and the view is really awesome and left me speechless everyday. You have to wake at 5:30 to photograph the sunrise from your room.
A wonderful hotel set in a breathtaking landscape. Located not far from the entrance to the reserve itself. Warm, heartfelt service. Excellent food, especially at the bar. High-quality excursions — the tour we took to Cuernos was amazing. The picnic at the wooden cabin was perfect, and the hot chocolate at the viewpoint was exactly what was needed. I will return. A true corner of paradise.
I have so many good things to say about El rio Serrano and el masiff. The hotel food was great, they had special dishes in the afternoon, the view was amazing and the staff was so helpful. The guides of The Massif outfitter group were all so positive, and made sure that everyone was able to go at their own pace. The front desk of the Massif crew were great. We had to make some last minute changes of our excursions and hiked and they worked with us to do that. I highly recommend this and it was a great start to our Patagonia vacation.
The resort is lively and the staff could not have been more accommodating. This includes last-minute changes in dinner & spa reservations. And the massage by Natalia was the best I ever had (and I get a lot of massages!). Meals were delicious and nothing seemed skimpy like at many all-inclusives. There are not many hotel options in the region and this checked all the boxes!
Fantastic hotel right at the entrance of Torres del Paine Park.
Very professional staff, they know answers to all questions.
Nice rooms with view to the Torres.
Good restaurant with food which has a local touch. Breakfast buffet is hard to beat in terms of quality and variety.
They also offer documentaries about the region at night.
Nice big pool with a mountain view
The hotel was in a great location. The views were superb. The entire staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make your time there so easy and enjoyable. The hospitality here is noticeably in all interactions with the staff. Can’t say enough good things about time here. I would highly recommend this hotel.
A fantastic hotel in a great location. We did the full board package - the food and drinks were extensive and excellent! We had booked a superior room and weren't overly happy with the first room we were given, but the hotel responded quickly with an improved room. Tip - when booking, request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor. The views from the superior rooms at the front of the hotel are definitely worth it if you can stretch the budget. The pool and sauna area were great at the end of a day's activity.
