Okay for money, not much around didn’t feel welcome by the villages
Pros:

Was clean and I needed to contact staff we’re able to provide a service and cleaning the room

Cons:

The bed springs were gone so the bed was hard. Mattress would need to be replaced.
Bathroom toilet, not a lot of flushing power

Pros:

Price is good

Cons:

The bedroom door, which opened to the outside, was not secure, a glass panel had been removed and so we couldn't stay there. Anybody could just get in the room. It took a long time for somebody to answer the phone line, which was frustrating. It was late, and we had to find somewhere else to stay at very short notice, which cost us a lot more. We did get a refund but no compensation. The staff we spoke to were sympathetic and friendly, but unable to do anything directly.

Chambre authentique
Pros:

Pros:

Good location, comfy bed and the room has all the facilities you could need. Breakfast room too with all the basics with a nice area to eat breakfast in

Cons:

The bathroom did have a smell and not the cleanest room with stains on furniture and dirt but for the price it does the job and is pretty comfy otherwise

Can't trust Columba House any more
Pros:

Usually a great place to stay but not this time.. my usual room was cancelled just minutes before the start of my stay due to a problem with the door lock (apparently the 'manager' said it happened earlier that day which a workman later told me was a lie, it had happened days before I'd booked)

Had to use a different room for the duration, booked a double bed but got 2 singles, plus the room was literally half the size of the one I'd booked and PAID for.

Hotel also being refurbished and undergoing noisy renovations, also lack of hot water at times, no internal room lights for a few hours (tripped switch?)

No Grab & Go breakfasts either.

NONE OF THIS WAS IN THE ADVERT!

I was offered a refund but at 9pm at night and after making a fuss, this was after waiting over 4hrs for a reply.
I had to ask what was going on several times, with no real answers.

I understand this work needs to be done BUT BE HONEST ABOUT IT BEFORE PEOPLE BOOK!

Columba house may have permanently lost a regular customer!

Cons:

The fact I was lied to before booking.

Glad to leave.
Pros:

Only plus was room was very warm.

Cons:

No one at reception to checkin with as we hadn't received the checkin key information. Two attempts at ringing to request this. Room had an overpowering smell of bleach. Shower was either scalding or ice cold...pretty useless. Sheets and duvet weren't long enough on the bed! Definitely wouldn't stay again.

Good price, not so great in the dead of the snow season unless you have tyre chains. Staff not on site
Pros:

I stayed there in 2024 for two nights. Early this year I was doing a quick one week trip in Scotland and unfortunately had a car accident in the snow on the other side of the loch and the car was damaged and I was able to get a lift and remembered this place at Kingussie and asked to be taken there. I was bruised and sore but this gave me the opportunity to rest for the night. The only room available was a single room with shared bathroom, but it did the job. I then booked another night in a double room with a bathroom so I was able to get myself sorted and get train to Perth where family picked me up

Cons:

Scary in winter as there is snow everywhere and when I hit a lift after my accident we had to carry the luggage up the hill in the snow as the road was too icy. When I left I had to walk my luggage down the hill to the Main Street due to the snow and ice to walk to the station. Wouldn’t suggest this place in heavy snow to drive or walk up and down hill
