The fact that I couldn’t collect my keys
I stayed there in 2024 for two nights. Early this year I was doing a quick one week trip in Scotland and unfortunately had a car accident in the snow on the other side of the loch and the car was damaged and I was able to get a lift and remembered this place at Kingussie and asked to be taken there. I was bruised and sore but this gave me the opportunity to rest for the night. The only room available was a single room with shared bathroom, but it did the job. I then booked another night in a double room with a bathroom so I was able to get myself sorted and get train to Perth where family picked me up
Scary in winter as there is snow everywhere and when I hit a lift after my accident we had to carry the luggage up the hill in the snow as the road was too icy. When I left I had to walk my luggage down the hill to the Main Street due to the snow and ice to walk to the station. Wouldn’t suggest this place in heavy snow to drive or walk up and down hill
Clean room. Good location
Nothing really. No staff I suppose
What I expected for the price and it was fine just for the one night. I didn't see any staff as it was a self check in, but they were perfectly attentive over the booking.com messaging. Although sometimes it's nice to see a human, the self service checking was completely fine and easy to use.
I will say you get what you pay for, and I was perfectly happy enough with that, as it was just for one night. But to give an idea of it for a review: it is a bit of a strange place. A little run down and dated, but clean. It's an old building and the interior doors have been replaced with very rudimentary fire doors. These bang quite easily as people come and go. Don't expect much of the grab and go breakfast. The uphill track to the hotel is beginning to be in a state of disrepair, meaning you have to carefully straddle it to not ground your vehicle.
Great size room and comfortable bed.
Kitchenette could have been better equipped
I loved the peaceful surroundings, my own front door, the TV and Shower were spot on, the furniture was lovely, comfy bed, easy parking
Fantastic local facilities away from the busy Aviemore environment. Beautiful local walks. Great cafes
Great value for money too!
Cant think of anything
Good location and quiet place to stay.
No on site staff but all the systems work fine so no problems.
The location was close to nature.
My room was quite dirty and also the shower had not been cleaned for a while.
I contacted the "reception" who said they would fix the problem but nothing happend.
Second stay in this property, different room. Great for what we paid. However 2 days before checkout a very unpleasant smell appeared in the bathroom, which had a cordoned off shower unit. We assumed drains. Wasn't management fault, as we only informed them upon leaving. Simple fault.
Drain issue, but these things happen on properties where guests pour all sorts and anything down drains...
Very comfy bed, large shower, spacious room
No sugar for hot drinks, I was disappointed to find no bath when my room choice specifically listed it, absolutely no human contact
Cheap, good location, comfortable bed, plenty of space.
Drain was clogged which made bathroom floor flood a bit, shower curtain was dirty, shower pressure not great, room not serviced between days despite notice in the bathroom suggesting guests leave dirty towels on floor if they would like replacements.
Not Mitch
I’m disabled and had all that stairs .no WiFi.
