Hotel Rivulus

The property is situated in a nice location with a walkable square, but when we visited there was a lot of construction in the area making access and parking more difficult. It would have been nice to be informed of this. The rooms are good but worn and need some upgrades and had no air conditioning, though units were installed they were inoperative. We still enjoyed but I’d give an overall rating of a 7. Once construction is complete it should benefit and go up to an 8-9 rating.

Heatwave outside but A/C was not working because it was under maintenance. Arrived on Friday and there was no staff to sort it out whole weekend because I arrived too late and they left. Breakfast was not the biggest for the stars held. The only good thing was that on my departure I needed to have breakfast about 15 mins earlier than serving times, there was no hot food but they opened the doors to facilitate that. The guy at the reception went all the way to wake me up in the morning making sure I don’t miss my train and was concerned in offering to book a taxi for me as well.

Everything overall was great. If I could pick one thing I was disappointed in, it was breakfast. Cold eggs, old cold sausage, mild on the peppers… and some really gross carp roe on hard bread or a gelatinous clear mold filled with meat. Honestly just go to a bakery. Don’t pay for breakfast. It’s not worth it.

Central location, nice hotel

Staff are always the key to a good lodging. The staff at Rivulus were kind and most of all, over and beyond helpful. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Posizione, confort,comodita tutto va benissimo Disponibilità,professionalità,gentilezza…la signora Andreea è Andrada molto brave per intervenire a risolvere qualunque situazione, esigenze …devo solo dire grazie per tutto… c’è una lavanderia velocissima e personale bravissimo ….eccetto le 2cameriere nuove che devono prima imparare la lingue e buon senso poi di lavorare in un albergo!!

English speaking staff (young woman) at front desk gives great advice, directions and sight-seeing information. Perfect location in the center of town. Clean large rooms and excellent breakfast.

Convenient location half-way between train station and city centre, friendly staff, clean room and great hot & cold Romanian breakfast.

Overall a good stay

The property was in renovation and woke up with construction drilling and construction people on my balcony. Also, the AC stopped working because of renovations. It was cold the last couple of days. The owner of the property knew about all this, the receptionist informed him but there were no answers to remedy the situation.
The shower was leaking but it had hot water.

The hotel is very nice considering that its only 3 stars.
The rooms are clean and spacious with balcony that had amazing huge christmas tree view.
The location is perfect as it is right in the middle of the town.
Breakfast was simple, but very fresh and tasty.
Staff are friendly and nice.

Excellent hotel in the city center, walking distance to Old Town Baia Mare with all the interesting places to visit.
Service was professional and friendly, spacious room with a large bathroom with all the toiletries needed, comfortable bed. I have enjoyed the breakfast with cold and hot dishes, a good variety for every taste.
Highly recommend when in Baia Mare.

The location is very good, in the city center and very easy access to old town. Basic room, ok amenities, bed was ok, not very comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Nothing really to complain about the hotel but nothing really to rave about either.

I consider this hotel, on balance, a good choice.
The positives:
- good location, in the new center of town. This comes with beautiful vistas over the town and mountains from the upper floors. Most rooms have balconies;
- good furniture and bedding, with a wide array of TV channels, and very quiet at night;
- courteous and efficient staff.
Breakfast was sufficient (scrambled eggs, sausages, some sandwich options, juice, coffee, croissant), though not outstanding. The minibar was basic water and soda.
Where it lacks is:
- the shower, which is a puny rain (fixed) head. This creates numerous accessibility and comfort issues and denotes a low-cost attitude;
- toiletries, consisting of a small soap and a pouch of universal shampoo. This is also something which could easily be improved.
There was a good desk to work at and additional armchairs in the room.
Overall however its location, sound and good bedding and staff made it worthwile.

Hotel Rivulus is the best hotel and my favorite hotel in Baia Mare, Romania. The location is excellent for business travelers and families traveling on weekend getaways. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant downstairs without going outside to access the restaurant. The only issue I’ve experienced is the wireless access point name Hotel WiFi 3-S didn’t accept Wireless connections. During my final stay in late December 2018, but all other access point worked excellent.

Staff were super nice & helpful , restaurant on site was a plus and served all traditional foods of the local area.
