Booked and paid for hotel in May for overnight stay in November as we had early flight from Glasgow airport. On arrival at 10pm - late check in until midnight - the receptionist told us there was no room available. We were told there was some fire damage from a week ago and our room was effected. No reason why we hadn’t been told in advance. There was no obvious fire damage and staff were unable to show us the damaged room when we asked for proof. They said they would sort out a refund but we would have to find somewhere else to stay. Not their problem! We eventually found another hotel and had to pay further costs. In the days and weeks that followed, there was no contact made by the Scotia Hotel to explain or apologise. NO refund was provided and despite my phone calls and emails they failed to assist in any way. Booking.com were largely unhelpful themselves, stating it was for us to resolve with the hotel. They even suggested we weren’t entitled to any refund as Scotia had told them we were a No Show. Incredible. Absolutely infuriated by the whole thing. Booking.com eventually refunded us for the second hotel we had to book. This was after lengthy correspondence back and forth. My advice - DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THE SCOTIA HOTEL!
Nice big room, short on towels one night, no taxi available
Beautiful old building with stately high ceilings and very spacious rooms. There is a playing field across the road but not very noisy. It wasn"t perfect but excellent value and very close to the airport with free parking.
Despite reservation , they told us they had no room for us. Left us without a room and no hotel in the area.
So the excitement began immediately on arrival at the Scotia Airport Hotel. The Taxi Driver laughed at me when we pulled up and said how popular it is and that I could see that for myself by the big empty car park out the front. That aside, I was a few hours early for check in, the front door was shut and locked so I called the number on the sign out the front. A lovely lady answered the phone and said she could offer me early check in at their sister hotel for no extra cost to myself which seemed agreeable …… until….. the “no extra cost” was actually an additional £20. I’m not entirely sure how that constitutes “no extra cost” but anyway, I said it wasn’t a problem and I’ll head in to the town for a walk about and come back at 2 (because I didn’t really want to have to risk going to another hotel I hadn’t looked at online). I went in to town but when I headed back, I called again and was told that either way, I’m now staying at the sister hotel (Motel Air) because they don’t have any room at the inn (I felt like Joseph himself). This came as a bit of a suprise but not as much as the surprise of a guy walking up to me telling me I’m staying at his hotel (Motel Air) before he even knew who I was. It was all a bit odd but the 7 pints of Tennent’s told me it would all be fine so I embarked on the half mile walk across the industrial estate to the Motel Air. On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised at the drinks and snacks available in the reasonably priced vending machine but that’s about as far as the pleasant experience goes in this hole. The two members of staff I met were very friendly and I can’t fault them at all …..but ……that said, I’m assuming that either the cleaners parking ticket was running out when they entered this room or they’d left their glasses at home. Either way, it was to my detriment. One can only reasonably assume that the previous patron of this room had some sort of breakdown which led them to pulling the majority of their pubic hair from their person and throwing it across the shower tray like confetti at a wedding. Whilst doing so, the stress of it all must’ve caused a gaggle of hairs from their head to also make a leap for freedom across the bathroom floor. Several unsavoury marks that’s origin would be fairly assumed as to be from a humanly orifice were also presented to me on the bathroom tiles like some sort of Picasso of the Nasal Cavity. This is all bad enough…..but…… putting that aside, and ignoring the fact that the bed looked like it had been made by a partially sited individual who was working their notice period, there was a worryingly familiar white stain but on this occasion, I’m the black curtain (that blocks the view of the transit connect van almost parked through your window. Said stain, can only be described as an impressively good attempt at beating some sort of record set in student accommodation. When all is said and done though, a huge shout out to Donna, Liz and the Children for being so kind as to let Hotel Guests (I use the term “Hotel” loosely) use their Netflix Log In on the TV provided. The TV remote had seen better days but ultimately, it carried out its intended function. I wish the staff at this place all the best because they seemed like good people but unfortunately it doesn’t change the fact that this place needs to be cleaned, the curtains incinerated and in my opinion, an exorcism performed.
Nightmare loudness in the parking lot all night long!
I stayed here on business at the start of November. It was the only hotel I could find close to where I was working, as COP26 was on, so accommodation was limited. The price charged led me to believe this was going to be quite a upmarket hotel, was I wrong! First impressions were that it's location on a residential street was strange, with a floodlit football park opposite, and what looked like social housing surrounding it. The carpark was deserted, even though it was evening when I arrived, and I thought for a moment that the place had shut down. On entering the property I was met by a man at the desk, looked more like a bouncer or security guard than anything and was very abrupt and rude. Anyway he put me in a room that was literally just opposite the desk. Room was basic but functional. The noise coming from guests arriving and the guy on the phone penetrated my door though. One thing that shocked me was the fact that the breakfast (extra payment) was to be taken at another hotel 5 mins down the road! I didn't go there so I can't say anything about it's quality, but was told it was a continental breakfast. I didn't sleep well due to noise from the reception, and for the price paid I was thoroughly disappointed. I will not stay again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.
We booked 3 rooms for our business trip. After a long drive we arrived at the hotel and a very strange/odd man at the reception told us that our reservation wasn't approved by the credit card. What was odd because we had a bank slip were we proved that we paid already. This same man said we had to pay cash otherwise he was not able to let us in. Of course we didn't paid again and keep on saying that we paid upfront. But he was not willing to let us in. Very bad manners and only focused to get more money. Finally, we left this bad place and went to another Hotel.
Booked this hotel through Agoda . on 23rd october 2021, arrived at check in time phoned number on notice displayed on door, man looked surprised to see us was busy talking to someone at entrance hurried us in, had booking on phone to show him , he told me to be quiet and dismissed it, looking through bookings with very little communication , started pacing the ground floor on mobile phone, after 10mins we where told flooding had happened to our room no room for you, the man was rude and shrugged thats it, he wouldnt answer any questions we had , left hotel had to book guest house double the price and travel expence, Was CHARGED for staying at this hotel as hotel said no show, have since e mailed hotel and booking agency for refund ,nothing sorted out yet , very unhappy customer.
From we landed till we left t was a total disappointment.. Notified in advance we wouldn't be there until 12 midnight but still demanded 10 pounds for late check in and the Porter was an ill mannered disgrace. Telling us constantly over and over read the fine print. Which stated fee would be payable if late check in was not arranged in advance. Deluxe double with view of the garden was not given either as we where given a basement family room with 2 single beds tied together and 2 other singles in the same room.plus the boiler was in the room for the whole hotel and was not functioning properly and was hissing and filling all night. Not exactly soundproofed where needed. Notified front desk and he said there was other complaints made of this and they where trying to get it fixed. But didn't want to loose our custom. Not exactly what you're looking for on a romantic weekend away. Never would I recommend somewhere like this to anyone ever. But paisley and surrounding areas was amazing and would recommend everyone to visit there.
Got told off by the man at the desk as soon as we arrived & told if we make any noise we would be thrown out…this is before he even said hello. Terrible customer service. The whole place felt unsafe & everyone we told where we were staying said we would have been safer on the street. No fridge in the room so you’ll need to buy new milk everyday. Bring your own towels too as ours had strange marks on them. In the morning 3 what appeared to be junkies were getting kicked out & were shouting about their sound bar being stolen by staff. It’s all round a horrid place to stay. NEVER TAKE CHILDREN HERE!! it’s definitely not family friendly. A lot of people just out of prison due to covid were also staying. It’s more of a homeless shelter than a hotel.
Car park is confusing as looks like it’s pay and display however you input your reg into a tablet at reception for free parking but nothing outside to tell you that.
Had to ring bell a few times but eventually got in, check in was fine and receptionist was pleasant.
We had room 4 in the basement, when we went down the basement was stinking of smoke which isn’t great.
Once we got into the room you could see these rooms are tried. The carpet has several cigarette burns on it, the bathroom wet wall has cracks and the sink was covered in rust. Parts of the shower mechanism was also missing.
The bed was OK but mattress was very thin. The bedding was clean which was the most important thing. Towels had holes in them but appeared to be clean.
Unfortunately the biggest thing was the constant noise from the room next door. There was constant shouting and music that lasted until 2.30AM. We we then woken by a phone alarm going off at 5AM that was snoozed and then went off again constantly. This went on for nearly an hour and you hear everything since the walls are paper thin.
There was also several times during the stay the room was stinking of smoke, not sure if this was from another room or in from the window but again not great.
Bottom line it’s a cheap but very tired hotel.
Booked this hotel turned up and were told we were actually staying at another hotel we hadn't booked. That hotel was fine easy parking nice clean room. But rather disappointed that we turned up unpacked and got sent somewhere else. Man on reception was rude and abrupt and difficult to understand
Did not accommodate what they charged me for night stay
Disgusted and appalled to be quite frank, and if zero stars was an option it would be that.
Arrived to check in at 7pm. The door was answered by a guy claiming to be the cleaner. Informed us no one was available to check us in as "the guy has popped out for ten minutes"
We sat in our car for over half an hour, calling the number on the door multiple times to no avail. We also seen the cleaner round the outside of the hotel drinking a can of beer then return to the hotel.
After seeing this and having no one there to check us in we booked a local Travelodge.
When a complaint was raised with booking.com the hotel denied that we had tried to call and lied saying they were available for check in to avoid issuing a refund.
Awful customer service and if this is the way they treat people I'm glad we never stayed the night.
The room was very well appointed, but there are no facilities in the immediate vicinity for food, other than a fish and chip take away.
The wifi code provided did not work and at check in was not advised of an alternative passcode.
The area is part residential, part industrial so not somewhere you can have great views from your room.
THE WORST HOTEL EXPIERIENCE WE'VE EVER HAD!!!!
We came to the hotel after long way drive with our children sleeping in the car for an easy and quick check in, but instead we expierienced such a bad unwelcoming gentleman who was serving at the hotel reception.
He was really RUDE, UNHELPFUL AND UNRESPECTFUL person!!! I was trying to get things sort out with our one year old daughter on my hands, he was shouting on my partner saying to him that he needs to stand in to front of the wooden door without no move until someone comes to the door!!! And we're waiting there for a while but nobody was opening the door or anything!!! What a bad service we had!!!! My daughter was crying on my hands and he still didn't go trough check in procedure but keep on going with his bad attitude and argument!!!on the top of that, a young drunk girl, probably a hotel guest, started to get into our conversation and cursed to me, and she came closer and closer, threatening me with her hand and showing me the door to leave, she quotes "get the f..k away from here" the receptionist did not pay attention to her, he let her continue to insult us!!! I started to be afraid for our and our children's safety, I wanted to call the police because I was afraid that she would do something to me or to our child, she looked like she would like to fight with me with my daughter on my hands !!! she was so close to me that I could feel the alcohol from her! suddenly the receptionist said that we were moved to another hotel because they did not have a place at Scotland Hotel. we left the hotel shaky and nervous. in the hotel where we slept, we finally had a nice welcome and Good Night sleep.
This situation ruined our whole evening!!!
Family of 4
We stayed for a long weekend with 2 young children. The hotel is beautiful from the out side although the journey to it seems a tad daunting but don’t worry, we were greeted by a lady at reception (who I think was called Denise) she was lovely and polite. We had a 7hr journey and we booked in early for £10. We were in the family room upstairs and it was massive bright and airy due to the huge windows! Beds are never as comfy as home but the bedding was clean and fresh.
Later in the evening we met ‘Kobby’ on reception who was also polite and helpful, we sat and chatted with him quite often while in or out the building. He had good knowledge of the area and looked after his guests well.
Yes the hotel is used for emergency accommodation but this does not effect your stay at all. On the Saturday evening someone staying decided to have a one man party and Kobby was straight down to sort it out and stop it. Some reviews do not give this hotel or the people that work there any justice. But I suppose if you book a hotel for £100 for 4 nights and expect the Ritz you are going to be disappointed! It’s cheap, it’s cheerful and we are going home happy!!
My adult daughter and I stayed last night. I stayed here before and was in a nice newly refurbished room- this time the twin room was disgusting (In the basement section). On arrival we rang the bell several times before a staff member came to check us in. The place was stinking of Cannabis (weed) and the person checking us in had heavy eyes and struggled to speak clearly, slurring their words.
The room was filthy. The floor was full of stains and littered with cigarette burns all over it too. The bathroom was a disgrace. We had to wipe down the toilet and sink before use, with stains and hairs everywhere. The radiator in the bathroom was splattered with some unknown liquid all over it. The shower was grotty with black mould and hairs/stains in it- we did not use it.
My daughter's bed had hairs in it. She had to pull the bed away from the wall because of unknown stains on it.
The remote and laminated notice hadn't seen any cleaning in a very long time.
Then came the constant smell of someone smoking cannabis all evening- 02.30am - coming in through our window.
We did attempt to speak to someone in the evening after we returned as we didn't fully look at the room on our arrival as we dumped our things then went back out. There was no one about to speak to. I have tried to call since returning home but cannot get a reply. Please spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
Basic but comfortable. Handy for the town centre and transport links, would certainly stay there again
