Nice location.
Pros:

Nice area, although their grounds looked a little tired. Free car parking. Good size room, good size wardrobe.

Cons:

Not enough staff. Overpriced bar, with "cocktails" out of cans. Mediocre food. Overpriced breakfast. No residents bar after midnight. No cooling facilities in the rooms, appreciate it's an older building, so Aircon may not be possible but no fans, really? Towels were on the small side.

A lovely wedding venue with very good staff, but spoiled a little by the above concerns.
Pros:

The room was adequate, the breakfast adequate. The wedding breakfast meal was very good.

Cons:

The room was an access room, with a wet room bathroom. The sink was too low for an able-bodied tall person, and there was no plug for the sink. The shower floor was potentially slippy, which we were warned about, and so didn’t use that facility. The flooring should have been non-slip and so we didn’t risk using the shower. The breakfast did not provide an adequate way to make tea. The hot water was in a flask and the tea bags were separate. The water would not have been boiling, and so would not have been suitable to make a proper cup of tea. Also, to be charged £20 for early access to the room seemed excessive, especially as the hotel is a wedding venue and we were asked to be ready to join the festivities for 12:00 noon. Some of us travelled a long way to attend the wedding and needed to freshen up before we joined the party. A more sympathetic approach would have been appreciated.

Pros:

Just a really good place to stay.
Room was fine and very clean.

Cons:

Means we were in a heat wave would have been helpful if you could have choice for a fan.

Pleasant surprise
Pros:

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel to find it set in lovely countryside, yet not far from M42! The grounds and property are well kept, but the thing that made it most enjoyable was the staff - they are so helpful, friendly, polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed during the heatwave and I asked them to keep the blinds and curtains shut before we got there, which they did. Our room wasn't far from where we parked and was nice and spacious with a comfy bed. There was even a little fridge in the room which was very welcome. The food was great. Overall, good value for money. We will definitely go back there, and would recommend to anyone to give it a try.

Cons:

Only couple of things that could be improved - no fan supplied in room or the restaurant (luckily we took our own, otherwise it would have been uncomfortable) and they could do with a socket at the side of the bed, although there were other plugs sockets in the room
