Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel + Retreat

Excellent!

This hotel truly deserves its 5 stars. The staff service was outstanding—always attentive and friendly. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful day. We were very satisfied with the experience. Highly recommended!

Quiet, Nature, Relax but no pool. The overall experience was excellent if you are wanting to disconnect and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. My wife and I enjoyed walking the trails (in the morning due to rainy conditions later in the day). The grounds were well kept, and the rooms were simple and clean. We toured each room category, and found them to all be spacious (even the queen room). The rooms with whirlpool tubs were nice if you like that sort of thing. The whirlpool in the suits can fit two people of average size. The Silencio, family, and presidential have two bathroom; one with whirlpool and the other with roomy shower. I think for two people, the JR would be perfect and the queen a bit smaller, but nice as well. Most all rooms face the forest with no view of the mountains or valley. The exceptions are the Silencio suits 34 & 35 which have a nice view of the chapel. Also, we understand that cabin 16 has a nice view of the valley and mountains although we did not visit this room personally. The presidential is a splurge and would be nice for someone who needs to conduct business. It is also the only room we saw with a screened patio looking out to the forest. The JR suit room has a slightly elevated patio which is unique to this room. If you need a covered patio to sit outside (private), book a suit. If you don't then a queen or twin will suffice. We found all of the restaurant food to be great with nice presentation (specialty coffee high price).

the place is a great ambience, but they need to have better food

Beautiful hotel surrounded by forest. Excellent onsite restaurant. Friendly staff and well kept facilities. The location is remote and about 8km of road are not in great condition, be aware of this before booking.

What an amazing place to stay to enjoy the cloud forest, experience nature and recharge. Zach and the staff and Jose the bird watch tour guide were so amazing and accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Amazing place to stay, feels like literally living in the clouds. Weather can be a little unpredictable and adds to the mystique of the place.
The last 30 mins of the drive to the place can be a little rough, recommend getting there before sunset on your first time.

What an incredible experience! The best staff ever everyone super friendly and helpful! They made our anniversary night super especial! From the spa to dinner to breakfast the best experience! Room amazing ! nice hot tub , amazing fire pit! One of the best hotel experiences ever had and we travel all over the world! Will recommend to everyone to come and stay in this hotel !

Villa Blanca is a fantastic, eco friendly resort located in a cloud rain forest. Extremely customer service focused team, led by Marco E. and staff. Highly recommended and we hope to return in the future. Skilled birding and biologist guides, great trails and a lively spa too! Food quality was exceptional.

DON’T BOOK IT !
Absolutely no way this is a 4 star property. Our room didn’t even have a chair. The only place to sit was on the bed! There was no TV, no mini fridge, no desk, no AC, no power outlets near the bed. Didn’t even have a toilet paper holder! This room may have been a 2 star accommodation. And the ROAD…… The road to get to this place was literally 5 miles of potholes. This was the worst arrival experience at any hotel.

It was a magical place with so much heart.

That place requires maintenance ASAP

The property is amazing, surrounding nature anywhere you look. Perfect place for a short stay, not much to do out of the hotel grounds. The bar and the restaurant have great food and drink options, not very pricey (drinks are $10-12, main dishes $15-$30 in Dec 2023).

Really a long bumpy way to hotel, after this everything is good

Beautiful mountain hotel , very peaceful and enjoyable. Walks in the green tropical forest.
Breakfast wasn´t the best. Even though we were the only ones in the dining room, the waiter didn´t remember small requests. But the place is awesome!

We loved the location of the property, one couldn’t ask for more! The cloud forest was truly magical.

Fantastic staff, especially their natural guide, excellent food, beautiful environment. Great for birders and anyone who wishes to experience Costa Rica’s natural beauty.
