Scottish hideaway
Pros:

Where to start... we booked online, thankfully before reading previous reviews otherwise we might not have booked. So we were a bit skeptical on what to expect on arrival but what greeted us was a lovely traditional Scottish Highland Lodge nestled overlooking Drumnadrochit. A professional and personal check-in with their great front if house staff and instantly made to feel welcome. The building is quirky yet traditionally Scottish with mahogany panelling, tartan carpets with modern touches. A downstairs lounge area with a large wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, wingback leather chairs and a walled bookcase which was lovely to curl up in of a night-time with a drink from the on site bar after a full day exploring. Unfortunately our visit was before opening season of their restaurant though. Our room had everything we needed as a base for us to explore the Highlands. Crisp white bedding and comfy beds with onsuite bathroom. WiFi can be a bit patchy but it's the highlands and we weren't there to spend time on our phones so it didn't bother us. We did have a problem with hot water in our room but this was sorted quickly by their attentive staff and didn't affect our stay one bit. Breakfasts were a good selection of hot and continental options. Hot fresh croissants daily and fresh fruit salad were a lovely bonus and set us up for the day. I know this is a long review but we felt that the previous reviews we read on here were unfair to the Lodge. We got to know the staff whilst there, manager Leanne and receptions Githia were exceptional 👌 and really made us feel at home and the owners, Donald and Mrs Skinner, what can we say, such characters and so welcoming of us to their Lodge. If you are looking for a hotel like premier inn or any other chain with no personality or quirks then lochness lodge is probably not for you. They are renovating the hotel bit by bit but that takes time.

The only positive is that it is near a restaurant. Otherwise, the property was old, dated, with multiple non functioning works. There was a musty smell. Uncomfortable beds. The lobby was cute, but piecemeal

Cons:

There was no front desk staff. The bar was "maybe" open. The staff actually entered our room, opened the window and left personal property behind. They did not inform us, even when we asked. One room asked for an extra blanket (there was no heater) and the one delivered was stained and smelled. There was a space heater only. Poor water pressure; the toilet rarely flushed and the sink water would turn off.

The beds were comfy, breakfast was nice. Staff were helpful.

Cons:

There was no evening meal, no bar, had to go out and come back snd sit in our rooms and watch TV. The room was cold on arrival, had to put on the heater and wait for it to warm up. The hot tap incyhe bathroom sink wasn't working. Had to wash hands in cold water. I requested a ground floor room as my husband has mobility issues. Had to climb the stairs with the aid of myself and my son.

The breakfast was decent

Cons:

No phones in the bedroom so if there was a problem you had to go downstairs to tell them about it. The plumbing was a real problem. When you finally got the hot water, it would be on for aout 15-20 seconds and then you got noting but ice cold water and also, the water spigots in the sink were so close to the edge of the sink that it was very hard to wash your hands.

Prima voor een kort verblijf.

Ontvangst en service waren uitstekend

Cons:

De kamer was slecht geïsoleerd. Het was buiten koud en de kamer dus ook. De badkamer was nog kouder. Ook waren de gordijnen heel dun dus de kamer was niet echt donker te krijgen.

Pobyt był bardzo rozczarowujący. W pokojach panuje niska temperatura oraz wyczuwalny zapach stęchlizny. Czystość pozostawia wiele do życzenia – w oknach zalegają pajęczyny. Największym problemem jest jednak brak sprawnej wentylacji; rano szyby były całkowicie zaparowane od wewnątrz. Wyposażenie jest stare i wyeksploatowane, co sprawia wrażenie przebywania w skansenie, a nie w hotelu. Dodatkowo w pokoju brakowało nawet podstawowej wody do picia. Standard obiektu drastycznie odbiega od dzisiejszych oczekiwań, mimo że lokalne opinie bywają mylące.

La posizione strategica e l’ingresso.

Cons:

Eravamo dislocati dall’ingresso, attraversavamo la bella struttura e poi per raggiungere la camera siamo dovuti passare in posto freddo e poco curato, è svanita la magia.
