Terrific location, which I hadn't visited for decades. The accommodation and guest facilities are very good, and the bar is exceptional. The staff are very friendly. Thanks all.

This is an iconic hotel which is unspoiled by progress located in a perfect place for fell walkers. Take yourself back to yester-year and enjoy life without being connected to much except nature. Extensive and sumptuous breakfast and a short but wholesome dinner offering.
If you are unlucky to get a room with “private bathroom” then be aware that this is not shared with anyone but it is a way down the corridor and a robe/slippers is not provided.

Gorgeous location, friendly staff, comfortable room, very generous breakfast size in the morning, and a lovely hikers bar servicing hearty food and some local beers!
I personally found the bed a little firm, but thats just personal preference. Couldn't fault them otherwise

Beautiful Great Langdale valley location encased by the surrounding fells. Friendly staff, fantastic proper British food with big portions. Cosy and traditional vibe, I love that residents have the option of a quieter dining area and the snug lounge with comfy chairs by the fire.
My only pick up is that my mattress was very hard, but it certainly won’t stop me returning.

Was a little remote. No shops for hours. Although the hotel did provide a packed lunch which prepared me for the day so they do accommodate where possible.
It's a get away from it all place. With excellent places to walk
