Perfect location, needs better drying facilities.
Pros:

The building has loads of character
Its an affordable price.
Breakfast was good.
The location is perfect for the Cumbria Way

Cons:

There's a serious lack of heating/ drying facilities. Came in from a long day on the Cumbrian Way soaked to the skin with torrential non stop rain. The room heaters only came on for an hour in the evening and an hour next morning and weren't very hot. The is a 'drying room' in the basement but it wasn't great either. Consequently I had to wear wet boots and clothes the following day (the previous night at a different hotel I had hung things on the radiator to dry which worked well because it was on!).
Bathrooms are private but separate, not ensuite which was fine. The corridor was quite noisy/creaky with movement too and from bathrooms.

Great hotel with real character.
Pros:

Great location and good honest tasty food.
This is not a boutique hotel with all modern facilities but it has something that a lot of hotels have lost which is character and soul.
This was my fourth visit and I will be back again.

Cons:

Nothing

Pros:

We loved the friendly atmosphere, the simple but clean rooms and the food was hearty and tasty. Perfect after a long day of walking. The climbers bar was excellent and we’re so pleased we stopped off here for a night on our Cumbria Way holiday.

Cons:

Nothing to add.

Perfect base for exploring the Langdales and for a Lake District stay in general.
Pros:

Beautiful traditional hotel deep in the heart of the magnificent Langdale Valley. Magical spot. It is also a great base for exploring the wider Lake District. A 1/2 hourly bus connects the hotel to Ambleside and beyond via a stop right outside the hotel entrance.

Pros:

Probably the friendliest hotel we've ever stayed at. In the morning, we noticed we had a puncture and they went above and beyond to help us. Of course it's also a beautiful place in a great spot for walks. Great breakfast. Highly recommend.

Just what we needed, great base for lots of hikes. Try the pie!!
Pros:

Great location, gorgeous surroundings. Bed super comfy, great shower (much needed after long hikes). Food in the climbers bar is excellent. The waitresses are lovely - friendly, efficient and smiley. Breakfast very nice too. One lovely barman (glasses, shaved head).

Cons:

Really let down by service in the bar. Barman was short, rude, borderline aggressive and not welcoming. Heard multiple people comment on him. Older guy, grey hair and short beard / stubble.

England's most Picturesque hotel
Pros:

Probably located in the most stunning part of England.
It's set up for Outdoors people, has a hostel vibe so don't expect a spa and fine dining.
Staff were brilliant, down to earth.

Cons:

Nothing.
