Beautifully maintained grounds. Wonderful spacious room which was bright and airy
Unfortunately we had a room without a bath (which after a long day would’ve been wonderful, and we had forgotten that the room was shower only). The bed was a little too firm, but each to their own!
On check in at reception, waiting to be seated at the Pineapple restaurant, again in the morning before breakfast and at check out, we had to wait several minutes each time be seen to by staff as there was never anyone manning the desks! A little disappointing. However, when we were being seen to, the staff were very polite.
Lastly, the Pineapple restaurant lacked features/accessories on the walls. No art work or mirrors, just very blank walls which seemed unusual for such a venue. The music didn’t seem to match the ‘fine-dining’ atmosphere either.
On arrival room was over the function suite which was having a wedding so we were offered and accepted another room which was excellent. Staff were friendly and approachable and the hotel had a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The advertised experience was relatable to our stay.
Breakfast was not good - just warm and not to our taste and we have both had these breakfast dishes before - however staff were friendly and offered an alternative.
Very clean and spacious
I was disappointed with the fact that I had booked my honeymoon suite 9months indvance and one month to my wedding was told my honeymoon suit was double booked which I don’t agree with it though they gave me special treatment and discount it took away my honeymoon experience that I was looking for on my wedding night.
The atmosphere was great
The fact that had to change my room that had intended for my honeymoon suite night. Though had booked the room 9 months earlier was informed just one month to my wedding that the room was double booked which I don’t agree with. I feel the best part of my wedding night was taken away due to that.

Room was very warm
Bar staff in function hall not friendly at all, never seen one smile from any one of them. Just like they didn’t want to be there.
Service in bar function hall very poor, 10-15mins standing waiting to get a drink. Definitely needed more staff.
Glasses accumulated on the tables, with leaving hardly room for more drinks.. nobody collecting dirty glassware. Didn’t look good

Impossible d'éteindre le chauffage dans la salle de bain - nous avions beaucoup trop chaud. J'ai essayé d'appeler l'accueil 10 fois pour demander de l'aide et personne n'a répondu.
We loved....the staff were great, the grounds and history of the building was fascinating, the food was good, the cleanliness brilliant, the room was fantastic, so spacious!
Bathroom and products were great.
Extra effort made for my husbands birthday by the staff, which was greatly appreciated
Hospitality tray was brilliant with a percolator and tea pot, with fresh milk and water. Fantastic!

Not much to fault however the floor in our bathroom needs addressing as it was loose and you could be at risk of catching your feet on it. ( to be fair we didnt have time to report this to reception, im sure it would have been sorted)
The were some strange constant loud bangs from 4.30am until 6am almost like bins being emptied non stop, very strange.
The privacy in our room needs addressing- lovely big windows but people would be able to see in and it seemed ashame to close the curtains on a nice day.
This will no way put us off staying again, or recommending to others.

Food in the Cave bar was outstanding. Staff lovely. Lovely touches of bed and treat's for our wee dog 🐶
The breakfast was a real let down. Very small table of continental produce. Cooked breakfast was really poor. Missing items on cold plate. Was served one wee tomato and one mushroom. Sausage and black pudding were dried out obviously not freshly cooked. Scrambled egg was nice. Really poor quality and quantity for a Four Star hotel. Bed in the Stable Room was exceptionally hard.

Attractive property in lovely location. Very stylishly presented. Good sized bedroom and en-suite. Staff very attentive. Food very good. Appreciated ability as a guest to use golf club.
