Liked everything
All of it.
Breakfast was very good with friendly service, although somewhat overpriced.
The hotel is very centrally located in downtown and within walking range from numerous shops and restaurants. The view from the upper rooms is spectacular.
Parking was practical, but quite expensive
Very central and nice hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, convenient for both business and vacation stays. I was there during a severe snowstorm and everything worked well with no problems. A special recognition and shout out to the staff who were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to keep the hotel and its services running smoothly where most of the other businesses in the area were closed!
The staff went above and beyond for us.
Stay was a delight
Staff courtias
The spa and fitness facilities were excellent and the spa staff members were kind. There was a bellman whose name I cannot remember who was the only employee to give 5 star service. He was attentive and even helped carry luggage to my car despite the vehicle being self parked.
A lot of staff members were lacking when it came to proper hospitality. First the front desk, check in was fine but felt rushed and I was never given information about the hotel facilities. Other times when I stopped by the front desk, I had to wait in line. Mind you this was a Saturday afternoon and there were only 2 other people in front of me and only one employee and no other agents or managers came out to help the desk. I’ve stayed at many 5 star hotels and even work at a 5 star property and I never had to wait in line at a luxury hotel. Not only that, but another time I walked up to the desk and the agent literally picked up the phone in front of me to take a call. From the conversation, it did not sound like an emergency and afterwards the employee did not even apologize for the incident. At some point I needed another key to my room and the same agent who checked me in the day before asked for my ID. I mentioned to them that they had checked me in last night and this agent said “ma’am I just started my shift, I do not know you.” It had been less than 24 hours and this employee cannot even remember the guests they check in. Other small things like having to open my own door when walking into the hotel, room was never serviced nor any turndown. Even the bartenders did not greet me when I sat down, I had to get their attention. I have stayed at many luxury hotels (Four Seasons, Ritz, Pendry, Mandarin Oriental, Six Senses) and I have never had any experiences like the ones I just described. This is my first time staying at Fairmont and it does not give luxury. Fairmont has many other beautiful properties but I honestly cannot imagine staying at another one again if this is the service I’m going to receive. The rooms were also very dated and plain. I prefer to stay at 5 star hotels for the service and the beautiful rooms, atmosphere, food. This hotel felt like a Comfort Inn.
Great hotel, so conveniently located in the cultural district. Walking distance to many things of interest like the river and the Warhol museum. I stayed in nov and dec and was lucky to have a ringside seat for the Veterans Day parade.
Room was well equipped, especially the bathroom, and had a great view over the city. A little oasis of calm. Bar and restaurant serving great cocktails and food. Gym well equipped. Friendly staff.
It was a good experience
The check in and parking
The property and staff were amazing, it’s so close to everything.
The location is wonderful. No need to drive around the proximity to restaurants and activities is great. Great bar on the 2nd floor as well as the breakfast in the morning.
We arrived at 4pm for check in, we had reservations for our 23rd anniversary dinner at 6. The room was not ready, the gentleman said that we can store our bags and he would call me when the room was ready. By 7pm (no call yet) we went back to check in, we had missed our dinner reservations because the restaurant has a strict dress code and we had no way to change since our bags were stored and no where to change. The same gentleman was there, I politely told him the issue and he said that is was an oversight. No apology, not oh my I'm sorry, nothing. The other front desk agent was on cell phone on a personal call while the business phone rang and he never picked up. The hotel is beautiful but there were no Christmas decorations anywhere, it was light up night in Pittsburgh. It felt cold and depressing. We have stayed at the Fairmont several times over the years, unfortunately this was the last.
Fantastic front of house staff. Great location. Amazing lobby. Front desk were totally amazing
The spa is lovely and the team were amazing again
Room wasn’t cleaned properly which was a shame as everything else was so fantastic
Not much
Views were t great. Said a view of the river but it’s to the side. Direct view is office blocks. Staff on night I arrived was rude. Didn’t give me the room I paid for. Didn’t have any alternatives. Thin walls so could hear a lot of noise.
