We decided to spend Christmas at Cabañas to unwind and relax. The location is perfect, close to various restaurants and bars, but isolated enough for more privacy. The private beach and shaded area is a game changer, since there aren’t a lot of areas to lounge, unless you opt for a beach club. Our room had beach access with a private plunge pool. We spent the majority of our time in our pool, or in a lounge chair about 20 yards away from our room. There’s a gym onsite with a nice hydrotherapy area that’s included for guests. It includes a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and cold plunge. We made sure to make use a few times during our stay. If you’re looking to “chill” and make use of the amenities, Cabañas is a good value.
The food at Ziggy’s and Fresco’s is good, with vegan and healthier options. Breakfast is included with your stay and the portions are plentiful. We really enjoyed sitting by the water each morning while enjoying our coffee. The entire staff was attentive and friendly. Aldo helped with our luggage and Ken assisted during the check in/check out process, even arranging a transfer to the airport for us. We enjoyed our conversations with the various bartenders and waitstaff during our meals. You get a sense the staff appreciate their customers and working with one another. They all did an excellent job helping make our vacation relaxing and carefree. Mucho Gracias!
La situation au bord de la très belle plage de Tulum. Anna, la réceptionniste, gentille et professionnelle. La bouteille de vin offerte pour l'anniversaire.
Pour célébrer un anniversaire, nous avons décidé de payer le prix fort (la chambre la plus chère avec accès direct à la plage) et nous offrir 2 jours dans cet hôtel qui semblait parfait. Quelle déception ! La première chambre était à côté d'un local technique et n'avait vue que partiellement sur la plage. Déçus, nous avons demandé si nous pouvions changer, ce qui a été possible. La chambre ne ressemblait pas aux photos : vétuste, mobilier usé, vieille salle de bain. Pas de place pour poser ses affaires. Murs sales, sol craquelé. Rien de luxueux ! Le pire était le lit !!! Le matelas était complètement défoncé. Et horreur !, le sous-drap, trop petit, s'arrêtait au niveau des mollets, qui se retrouvaient sur le matelas. Tout était synthétique, donc ça glissait terriblement. Pas non plus de couette légère, mais juste une vieille couverture marron qui sentait l'humidité dans le placard. Un premier temps, nous avons décidé de gérer le problème le lendemain. Impossible de dormir et énervés aussi, nous nous sommes rendus à la réception. Anna a immédiatement envoyé quelqu'un refaire le lit, mais l'employé nous a assuré que c'était bien "le protocole" de l'établissement de faire les lits de cette manière ! (très hygiénique !). On nous a apporté une couette, mais sans la housse... Le lendemain, suite à notre demande, on nous a apporté une housse quand-même. (Ce qui veut dire qu'ils ont tout cela, mais ne s'en servent pas). La nourriture au restaurant n'était pas mauvaise mais rien d'exceptionnelle non plus. Ce qui était très énervant était le constant harcèlement pour les pourboires ; enveloppe dans la chambre, et sur les notes du restaurant même ajouté au stylo et en gras que le tip n'était pas inclu !!! En 3 jours, malgré plusieurs demandes, nous n'avons pas réussi à parler au directeur-trice. Celle-ci s'est présentée au moment du départ, mais avec un avion à prendre, nous n'avons pas pu discuter.
The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, including the beach. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with some modern conveniences that can sometimes be hard to find at the beach hotels in Tulum. The location was great, too. It was peaceful and yet within walking distance to great places eat and things to do if you wanted to venture out. There were two restaurants for the hotel and they were both amazing- food & service were exceptional. And very attentive when it came to dietary needs and preferences. The hotel staff went above and beyond on multiple occasions to make our stay an excellent one, too. They were great at helping us find transportation and things to do, sometimes last minute given tours can cancel on you without much notice. Everyone was so nice, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! This was my second time to Tulum and when I go back next year it’s very likely I will book my stay here again!
