Location in town is very nice. They were very accommodating and allowed me to park motorcycle in the back garden alley rather than main parking. Breakfast was good, dinner in the pub was good. Pub is a great hangout place. Really liked the decor and a good selection of drinks at the bar. The window on the well in the main dining area is a nice touch
The sign to the parking is hidden in the alley, they should have it on the main door. Stairs are steep and narrow, so old people should be aware it is a good climb. No lift obviously as it is an old building. Avoid if you have mobility issues.
Very central location, walkable to shops, restaurants and the river. Room was comfortable and well equipped including window that opened and a good fan, appreciated on a warm night. Stairs up to the room are very uneven, steep and winding, landing is narrow - seriously, be warned. Breakfast was nice, limited choice as expected for a small hotel. Staff were friendly and everything seemed clean and worked well. Car park entrance is very tight, but there’s a public car park behind if you have a larger car and don’t want risk it.
We were ok with the stairs but they were very steep and sloping.
Friendly staff, nice large comfy clean room. Good location and able to park at back of hotel.,Evening meal in the restaurant very nice, and good breakfast.
Friendly and extremely helpful staff, lovely olde worlde hotel
Nothing, all good
Breakfast was very good..lots of choices and they were very accommodating with specific requests. The breakfast room is also great...dont forget to check out the 14th century well in the room!
Friendly staff good food clean room
We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were welcoming and friendly, the hotel is full of character and the food was really nice. We booked a table for our evening meal which was a good job as it was very busy and we’d have struggled to get a table otherwise. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was very good. The hotel is right in the town centre in easy walking distance of the shops and a lovely walk alongside the river.
Nothing really, ok there’s several stairs up to the rooms but if you stay in a place with history and character you can’t expect a straight staircase!
staff were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast and evening meals were top quality and well presented. Private car parking very useful in a busy town location
old building so did not have the "clean lines" of some hotels, some reviewers say this adds to the overall charm
Excellent breakfast, Good beer

Perfect location.
Full of character but lovely and clean and comfortable
Sourdough toast at breakfast seemed stale. We always eat sourdough but this was tough and barely toasted at all.
Clean, central, excellent breakfast
The charm of the place. along with its history was great. Great food and very helpful service. When we stepped outside we were in the main shopping area-great
The 2nd flight of stairs were a little challenge, but to be expected on such an old building
Great hotel on the high street. Breakfasts were excellent, as was the food in the evening. The bar and the library were cosy places to sit and relax. The outside space was very limited (due to its being in the centre of the town) but it was close to other areas to sit outside in the sunshine. The hotel has a quirky layout with steep stairs. The room was huge and comfortable.
There was nothing to dislike. The beds were on the firm side.
