Friendly staff and large rather dark room
Had a pleasant stay. Spotlessly clean room. Staff friendly and delicious cooked breakfasts.
The staff are very polite and the food is good.
The WiFi is non existent in the rooms and slow in the public areas
Bathroom could do with the black mould removing!
The hotel looks tired in need of a repaint, the room was dark with only a small window so there was very little natural light, the decor was dated and the carpet threadbare ,the bed was comfortable and the shower was good and the room was clean, for what was classed as a superior room it was disappointing.
The breakfast didn’t have an alternative to a cooked breakfast other than cereal and toast.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great for access all across East Lothian for e.g. golf and sightseeing, and for walking into town. Breakfasts were good, dinner was OK. Bar was Ok but could do with more comfortable furniture. My bedroom (#18) was absolutely tiny and could barely fit the double bed in it, but there were much larger rooms for the same price. Bedroom view was of a section of roofing. So overall the room was not good. The hotel was a little run down and could do with some renovation, but was clean, friendly and had good breakfasts. I'd stay there again if I could be assured of a normal sized hotel room, but would not stay if the room were to be the size of room #18.
Breakfast was good.
Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. But building is very run down, very “tired” and badly in need of a major overhaul. Peeling paint, awful carpets, dated furniture, rotting woodwork. Very basic food. Such a shame because it’s a super location. Stayed 2 nights, nobody serviced my room. I hope it can be saved! But I wouldn’t stay there again.
Front-desk staff *exceptionally* helpful, efficient and friendly. Rooms cleaned and tidied efficiently. Very well-placed hotel, ideal for all Haddington Lammermuir festival events. Wi-fi fine and free. Breakfast sadly mediocre apart from the eggs and mushrooms. No fresh fruit at all. Only ultra-processed or sugary cereals. (To be fair, porridge was available from kitchen.) Breakfast fruit juices were more like squash, coffee was weak and poor quality. Rooms small but adequate and peaceful, beds comfortable, slept very well once we switched off the heating and opened the window. Shower tiny but clean.
Staff friendly. Room fine but WiFi hit or miss.
Breakfast very filling only negative was orange juice was orange squash; tea was pre- made in a flask and weak to taste.
However cooked breakfast was freshly made and very good.
The receptionists and other workers were very welcoming and professional and helpful and accomodating.I dont like the rule of the hotel about you cant bring outside food(cooked) like pizza and food in box etc., into your room. That is the worse rule you can have at a hotel without a proper explanation that makes sense. Was told guests complain about the smell. That cant be.Because if a restaurant is on property, how does that explanation make sense. If one is worried about rats and cockroaches etc.,then the hotel needs to make sure they have people who clean the rooms properly and deep clean the hotel a couple times per year.I was most disappointed in that rule as I have been many countries all over the world and I have never heard nor encountered that rule before. However the hotel is at a good location, church across the road, restaurant down the road like 1 minute walk, walk for maybe 10 minutes and get into town with many options for restaurants etc.Reliable cab called JT Taxis is great.Bus system is in town to take you to places like Edinburgh etc. This has been the best experiences at a Hotel I have had in the UK and I've been to many in the UK.My only disappointment is the food issue. They even gave me a packed lunch 5 am when I was checking out because I would miss breakfast.Their breakfast is amazing by the way.
The property itself was in an ideal location for us between our home and Edinburgh airport, great for breaking up the drive before an early morning flight. The staff via Expedia messaging were also very helpful with our late arrival for check in… However, what cannot be ignored were the facts that the towels and bedding were dirty, there were a huge number of insects in the room including midges, spiders and daddy long legs, the quality of finish in the bathroom and bedroom were poor, with marks on the walls, cracks on the walls and around windows, and the bathroom feeling like it had not been redecorated, potentially even not been deep cleaned in decades rather than years.
All in all, good location for airport, but felt more like the Only Fools and Horses, Jolly Boys’ outing episode hotel that the Trotters stayed in rather than a modern day hotel.
We had a good 2 night stay. Food was excellent and staff very friendly
Fine for a short stay for family reasons.
Very helpful friendly staff. Not as bad as some of the reviews make out. Yes, run down, but clean and comfortable.
Looks like the property is being worked on. Was nice inside and very good breakfast and friendly staff
Our stay here was perfect. The staff were amazing! The beds were so comfy. We couldn't of asked for more. We will definitely be staying again next time we visit Scotland.
The staff were friendly and the area of Haddington is chill and safe for women travelers. My only comment is the building and some of the interior is a bit old but its gives it character. Plus, the staff accommodated my dietary options as much as they could which I appreciate!
This hotel was excellent, had a separate bar and a beautiful dining room
Very clean room, kind, friendly, staff. Delicious food.
