The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, unfortunately we only had one night here and couldn't enjoy them fully. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. There were plenty of breakfast choices. The staff were all very helpful too.
Checking in was a teeny bit slow, probably because we arrived at night, so the bar man (who was really really lovely and helpful) was doubling as the receptionist. Not a massive problem, more stress for him I think.
Quiet location

Very pleasantly located in pretty gardens.
Nothing
Excellent location for the many local sites of interest. We particularly enjoyed walking from the hotel down to Cromford Mills and along the canal. The hotel has benefitted from extensive refurbishment and is well presented and appointed. It is situated in extensive very well managed grounds. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. In addition to having breakfast each morning, we dined in each evening and were very impressed with the standard of cuisine.

Immaculate
Great location with stunning views.
Staff were great, friendly and very helpful.
Nothing.
This is a real gem of a hotel with elegant rooms and beautifully kept gardens. Much better than in the photos…I had a delightful 1 night stay welcomed by every member of staff and good evening meal in the well appointed small dining room - breakfast was similarly good and my picky tastes catered for! Great for exploring the Arkwright Mills and area
Nothing- would happily return
Lovely grounds and very peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful house and dining room. Staff friendly. Comfortable beds.
Room was very hot in the current heatwave, even though a fan was provided. The food was perfectly nice but not the quality that usually goes with a hotel as lovely as this.
An absolute hidden gem.
The hotel, it's location and the garden are stunning; it is set well back from a noisy road so we found it very peaceful & relaxing. The staff were friendly and for the most part, very helpful. The layout of the room with 2 single beds, a chair each, nice big windows and a fabulous bathroom suited us very well. The decor was simple & very tasteful.
It was a very hot weekend but we had a fan in our room and it was safe to leave the windows open all day & night, which really helped. We booked a room with a garden view and this is exactly what we got, it was perfect.
We ate dinner at the hotel every day, including an excellent Sunday roast; the food was good with enough choice for us and not too expensive. Breakfasts were also good with most items delivered to or already on the table, which prevented the usual wandering about looking for things!
The beds in our room had very firm matresses which I personally found too hard; I have osteoarthritis and the hard mattress exacerbated this. They would benefit from a topper.
Service in the restaurant was mixed, staff could be slow to take your order or clear dirty plates.
The staff, the setting, the food and room all exceptional.
Nothing
Checking in. Very quiet room. Breakfast, Checking out.
A tad difficult to get into the bath/shower, and you may need a plumbing degree to work out the workings of the shower...! ;-)
Location and friendly staff
Room was on the small side
