The location is perfect. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. The breakfast was really nice too. These are the good things and I can recommend these specifically.
The two things I hated I'll leave until last. But to start with, the room itself wasn't as large as I expected for the price I paid, the photos I saw prior to booking and also the fact that this is a five star hotel. This was a treat to myself after 6 weeks travelling around Colombia and Ecuador and a combination of staying in hostels, eco lodges and 3 star hotels. The room was not the most comfortable. Now for the two things that were awful:
1. The wifi in the rooms was absolutely shocking - non existent! I had to leave the property to arrange Uber's, check in for flights etc, really annoying.
2. There was a piano outside my room in the lobby. Some geezer in the hotel felt compelled to play this every night between 7pm - 9pm. I get up early, have breakfast and walk and explore the city. From 8pm onwards I like to relax and sleep as I am tired from travelling all day. This was impossible for me to do with my noise cancelling headphones playing music to drown out the guy playing a piano outside my door.
If this place advertised that a guy would be playing a piano outside my door every night, irrespective of if I liked it or not, I would not have dreamed of booking this hotel. Never, ever has the thought occurred to me when trying to sleep in a hotel "do you know, what would improve this experience? Yep, someone playing a loud piano outside my door". It's not for me at all.
The location in the historic centre of Cuenca was perfect, and the lobby and garden were absolutely beautiful
Everywhere was so clean and the maids really cheerful
Also the team on reception were so friendly and helpful
We loved the quality and selection of food at breakfast
The face masks and hot water bottles provided in the room were thoughtful touches
Overall it was fabulous, but only spoiled slightly by attention to small details being sometimes missing… for example all the handles on the kitchen cupboard doors in our suite came off in your hand when you opened them. There was no kettle provided for making tea in this kitchen, just a coffee maker. They provided a huge selection of sugar but no small supply of coffee. The only hook in the bathroom was hanging off the wall.
We were only given bread at breakfast some mornings and not others, and sometimes there was no yogurt or milk out for cereals. This was always rectified once we asked, but for this standard and price of hotel we would expect it to be not necessary to have to keep asking.
It felt like home. Peaceful, elegant and little oasis in middle of old town.
Problem with shower but staff dealt with the reporting of it extremely well.
Struttura pulita, accogliente, molto bella, personale attento ad ogni dettaglio
La ubicacion del lugar
El baño se escucha todo del otro lado, no tiene ducha de mano es pequeño y la televisión diminuta
Beautiful hotel, very good location, I loved the garden.
Service at reception was fantastic
Room was lovely, great attention to details with the mask and hot bottle in the bed.
Service at the restaurant was appalling unfortunately, waiters were pretty much inexistant and hiding on their phone you had to walk over to them to get something.
At night, it is quite noisy if you have a room on the central square lobby, with the lobby music and later on the security guy talking and listening to stuff on his phone at 2am.
A special boutique hotel that is superbly decorated and maintained.
Due to changes in plans stayed 2 nights...one in a suite and one in a standard room. The suite was comfortable and the standard room was a closet. It measured out at 120 SQ ft. with 18" between the small double bed and the wall.
When you sat on the toilet your knees hit the sink and the shower got the the TP wet......and all this for $187./night!
Lovely place but if you can't stay in a suite go elsewhere where you have a normal room size
Ubicación excelente
