Lack of a kettle to boil drinking water for tea !
We booked this hotel and decided to pay for this through Affirm. We never received any booking notifications but only confirmation from Affirm that it was charged and contract of payment plan approved. We called when we arrived in Brooklyn to be told we don't have a reservation, it was Christmas time so huge snow storm and we had to look for another hotel as they were fully booked. In the end it cost us $500 more being December 26 for 4 nights. We later found out that they had our names back to front so surname was in first name etc.
I was speaking with Richard Chu - Front Desk Manager who asked me to email him evidence of the ew booking we had confirmed being The Ace Hotel in Brooklyn who where amazing. Richard said he would circle back once he spoke to engineering as he called them the team that can look into the booking to understand that the 4 nights no-one actually checked in, room did not need house keeping, no charges etc of any activity. After sending 3 emails and not even an acknelegement back after our initial agreement, I called Sheraton Brooklyn and spoke to the actual manager a female and name escapes me but I sure when they both read this, it will jolt their memory. I said it was really important that I have confirmation that we did not check in as Booking.com required this evidence with Affirm to process the refund. That's all they had to do.She (the manager) had a tone like I was truly inconveniencing her and said she will try but nothing. By this I had like 48 hrs left before Affirm closed the refund as I could not provide evidence that we did not stay.
So now we are paying off $2,073.43 with interest for accommodation we never stayed not to mention over $2,000 for The Ace Hotel. It hugely dampened my end of 2026. Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely not.
Customer follow through, a manager that was empathetic not dismissive and a response. I even emailed Richard like a few days ago and gave him the opportunity to fix this in 48 hours and not even a reply. So that's what you will expect to receive as a customer, absolutely no care. They are obviously making so much they don't need to be courteous and care about customers. I am sure they enjoyed taking our money and probably sold the room after realizing it was vacant.

The shower i think we had a shower for the disabled. So we had to put towels down daily.
Good location, decent gym.
Heating unit stopped working in room and after placing a maintenance request still did not get fixed. Terrible timing for the coldest weekend this winter.

Good location, plenty of transport options and shops nearby. 30mins to mid town Manhattan by subway.
Clean room, comfortable bed, hot drink maker and fridge allowed for tea, coffee and keeping water chilled. Clean bathroom with bath and shower and plenty of toiletries and towels. Heating was adjustable - we switched it off and the room was quieter and a comfortable temperature.
Basin hot tap was defective and repair didn't happen while we were there but we just used the cold tap instead.
I’ve stayed at this hotel twice, most recently in October 2025. On the first stay, as a Platinum member the breakfast benefit was anything off the menu in the restaurant in the hotel’s lobby. On my most recent stay, the club lounge was open and breakfast was provided there. The club lounge breakfast had limited options but the eggs and bacon were filling. During non-breakfast hours the lounge has snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The lemon cookies are very good. The 2 queen bed suite is large for NYC. The door opens into the living room with a tv and sofa; the bathroom is between the living room and bedrooms. The room was clean but there bathroom needs more towel hooks.
