We dud bit have breakfast and seems not cheap . However, it seems the quality was very goood.
Not big on Racecourses, bathroom, was the size of a ladies shoebox, and really should have a sliding door. Although the rooms were a good size, are well overdue and refit, as they look like something from 70s . Where her sister hotels in America have had their long overdue refits.
Great room with excellent views of the racecourse, friendly helpful staff.
£6 charge for delivery of pint of beer a bit steep I thought.
We used the pool which was nice.
We found blood in the bathroom. They didn’t know there were 3 people booked to stay in the room even though it was booked for 3.
In the spa area, there was mud and equipment all over the floor. We were there for about an hour, no staff member came in this time to clean it up or close it off.
When we told staff members about these problems there were only obviously made up excuses, instead of an apology.
Our room was very large , had a beautiful view overlooking race course. Food was amazing. Staff was amazing especially bar staff.
Staff front desk on checking in was good , all other staff from bar staff to staff in restaurant was polite and very welcoming , a 5 min walk if that to racecourse , a great evening
Minor detail , conditioner in bathroom was empty , I never took any as only there over night , didn’t realise till was in shower
Also a bit dissapointed that the lady saw to check out never asked if every thing was ok and did you enjoy stay , like say both these minor things
Great location.
This is probably the worst Marriot we have ever stayed in. We have been fortunate to stay all over the world in Marriott hotels resulting in a titanium membership.
There are no perks at this hotel for your loyalty save a bar voucher.
We asked for a racecourse view and instead were given a front car park one. As it was a race day the noise outside began very early disturbing our rest. Breakfast was mediocre with the fruit and cold cuts running out as it was a busy service. There were other inconveniences as a result of it being a busy Saturday and I feel that as a resident of the hotel, parking should be a given, and not in the overflow, as should the ability to find somewhere in the bar.
The reception staff are mixed. Some are lovely but a couple were borderline rude with a “ nothing I can do” attitude.
I rarely write negative reviews but anyone staying here should not expect the usual standard.
Swimming pool area with Sauna and Steam room 👍
Sauna and Steam room were not upto heat at 7.30am when I went for a swim but otherwise I enjoyed using the facilities. Will be back Thankyou 👍
All staff bar 1 were exceptional
Expensive and one member of staff very rude and sheets not changed all week and air con didn’t work and windows didn’t open and bed quite uncomfy
Great room and pleasant restaurant right next to the racetrack.
Bar area not big enough for busy race days
The highlights of my stay included friendly staff, a clean room and a lovely pool. However, there are some serious issues that need flagging.
I specifically booked an accessible room following recent surgery, as I needed enough space to move around comfortably. While I am not a wheelchair user, the standard of the “accessible” room was shocking. As other reviewers have noted, it did not appear suitable for wheelchair users or disabled guests, and I am surprised it (assumedly) meets accessibility standards.
Secondly, while the pool was pleasant initially, it quickly became a stressful environment due to large groups of families allowing children to behave disruptively. This included jumping and dive-bombing directly into the path of swimmers.
The nearby jacuzzi, despite clear signage stating it is for over-18s only, was occupied by young children who were diving from the edge into the pool, narrowly missing other guests. At one point, a child came very close to hitting my head as he hurled himself off the side of the jacuzzi into the pool, in full view of his mother. This lack of respect from other guests in the spa area, plus lack of monitoring by staff, has been flagged by plenty of other reviewers, but the hotel continues to do nothing about.
In terms of my room, it was extremely stuffy and boiling hot, with ineffective air conditioning. All the windows were also locked shut, for some bemusing reason. As a result, I woke up with a terrible migraine the next morning. This was pre-summer, so I dread to think how unbearable it gets in July - August.
I wouldn’t return to this hotel based on the above concerns, and am shocked by the poor calibre of this Marriott hotel.
