very friendly & informative checkin and breakfast staff
The old building was nicely renovated
The ac unit in the room was extremely noisy, waking us up every time it switched on. The roof top bar across the street played loud music until 2am keeping us awake and we could hear a phone ringing all night long in another room also keeping us awake.
The hotel is in a great location, the building is beautiful, and our room was comfortable. The staff was generally polite, and the valet parking team was very attentive. Breakfast was acceptable, and overall the place has good potential.
Housekeeping was far below expectations. In three days, they only changed the bath towels—no bed made, no real cleaning, and they didn’t even pick up a pillow I purposely left on the floor. When we arrived, the room had no glasses, and the only ones provided were disposable paper cups. Not even a single complimentary bottle of water.
The elevators were slow and constantly used by the staff as if there were no service elevators. And on our last night, we found a cockroach over two inches long in the room.
Overall, the hotel feels overpriced and poorly supervised, and the experience doesn’t match what we paid.
This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in!
This is not a 4 star hotel and a star should be taken down. It is shameful that it is in the same price range as other 4 star hotels in the are. I feel so deceived. The Photos are photoshoped, the rooms and thw whole hotel is smelly. Bedsheets and pillows stink just terrible. It ruined my stay in San Antonio, the breakfast is terrible I ran to the other Hotel every morning to have a breakfast and that was also 4 Star hotel in the same price range and it was not comparable! I learned so much from the stay not to trust Star rating or customer rating and do more through research on the hotel! I stayed for 6 nights unfortunately, it will take a lot of time to get the smell of those pillows and bedsheets out of my system! I never give bad reviews but I do not want to keep silent , maybe my review saves someone else's Vacation!
Location was brilliant
Friendly staff
Breakfast was good
Room very noisy due to vent ducts making noise all night not easy to sleep
Room was not very clean, behind the beds extremely dusty
Bed looked nice but was too big for the room, especially with the desk right next to the bed
Only one lift working
No water in room
So convenient for walking.
Nothing was wrong at all.
It is centralized to all the city
It needs to be more up kept. My bathroom floor looked like someone had just used it.
Loved historical features! Staff excellent!! Next to US Courthouse/Alamo & 2 Blocks from River Walk.
Construction noise but then we still enjoyed stay.
Great location
Nothing
It was very well located to the Alamo and other downtown sights. The hotel is the most dog friendly hotel in the city and the pet fees were surprisingly low compared to other places around. Hotel Gibbs has the best breakfast spread of any hotel I have ever been as well.
