Desastre total
Pros:

Pros:

Beaucoup de potentiel pour cet bâtisse. Mais il faudrait faire des travaux de rénovations. Beaucoup de toiles d’araignées dans les couloirs. C’est dommage car c’est un très bel endroit.

Pros:

It´s out of the way location, resulting in peace and quiet, which I needed after a long journey from the South.
The entrance door to the lobby, is over 100 years old, and Jenny was charming and helpful in printing out my "passenger locator form " required by the UK government rules for travellers entering the UK to be completed 48 hours before arrival at the port of arrival. b ed was really comfortable, and overall a suitable overnight stop on the way to Santander.

a bit disappointed
Pros:

we found the hotel a little run down, things like light bulbs missing,, the tap on the shower/bath fell off!! but we were able to put it back. the outside needs a bit of attention, there were benches and metal chairs in the garden but needed cleaning . it all seems to need a bit of work done to bring it back up to scratch. having said that the people were nice, a light breakfast which i thought was included, but wasn´t. no bar. no restaurant. you have to go into Calamocha a few miles away where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. for a one night stay it was ok

OK opphold.
Pros:

Dette hotellet kjenner vi fra tidligere opphold. Liker huset og atmosfæren. God frokost.
Men ingen muligheter for middag.
Den nærliggende baren har servert mat tidligere. Nå fikk vi bare drikke. Pluss at det svermet med fluer rundt oss.
Det var bedre å sitte i hotellhagen med et glass vin.

Hotel closed on arrival!
Pros:

Barely legible note on door with choice of 2 numbers to ring no reply to either. Tried again 5 minutes later and call was answered. She said wait 5 minutes. I waited 10 and the door was unlocked. I should add that this hotel is in a hamlet miles from anywhere. I was asked several times if I had a reservation and I showed her my print out of Expedia booking. She grabbed it did some sums and asked me for 67€. This I will question in due course. (Breakfast was 6€ and a disgrace. ). All the while the woman's mother was sitting down watching. Well into her 70s or early 80s. I was told that she didn't speak Spanish .... Her daughter then asked for the money and disappeared!!!! No restaurant, nowhere to get a bottle of water even ...
I could expound this review and have photos of proof.
Makes Fawlty Towers look like a welcoming ritz.
The daughter went off never to be seen or heard of again!!!
All in all one of the most strange experiences I have ever had!!
Disgraceful and I will be writing a very scathing review.

Don't go out of season.
Pros:

We arrived in the dark at 6pm and the place was in darkness. It is in a very remote area and up a very long country lane. Because it was dark we could not really judge where we were. Rang the front door bell, no reply. We were concerned because we were the only car in the car park. Another car pulled up and they had a different number from us to ring, they rang it and after 10 minutes a light went on and a lady appeared at the door. Once inside we could see what a beautiful building it was. Our room was large and airy. The Hotel restaurant was shut for the winter so we walked into Navarette which was in darkness and no one in sight. So we drove to the next place which also seemed to be closed. In the morning however we went out and could see how beautiful the building was and how nice it would have been in season with everything open and seating outside. My advice would be, go in the summer but avoid October to March.

great stop over
Pros:

Typical Spanish old house, very well converted into a hotel, relaxing, clean, friendly staff. No restaurant during off peek period, but there are many bars and restaurants in the main town, across the motorway, east access from the hotel. Well worth looking at the town. Will stay there again.

Charming hotel
Pros:

This lovely old hotel in a very charming village deserves more than it's 2 stars. We enjoyed our overnight stay so much that we booked it for the return trip. The only downside was the food in the evening but we can eat out at the nearby town. Highly recommended if you like old and quaint.

Lovely hotel, shame about the bells
Pros:

We eventually found the hotel in spite of the unhelpful map. It is a little gem with helpful staff who speak little English. We enjoyed a good value 3 course meal in the restaurant.

When we settled down into bed we began to hear two sets of church bells, both chiming each hour (a couple of minutes apart!) and one chiming the half hours. Even with the window shut we heard every one.

So, if you sleep very soundly or are hard of hearing, this is a great place to stay BUT if like us you sleep quite lightly and need your sleep DO NOT book here.

Pros:

Excellent little hotel, although very remote in little village, with one small bar. Grand hotel on small scale, think country manor. Only problem was reception and breakfast, opens at 9.00 but no-one there until 9.30, a problem if you need to set off early as we did, couldn't check out. No tea/coffee facilities in room, honesty bar in lounge, no english channels on TV, very Spanish. Only stayed one night, would definitely stay there again. Restaurant next door was closed but opened up for us, no English or menus so you need to just ask for what you want, not gourmet but good simple food, salad, steak, fish etc and very reasonable (60 euros for 4)
Only 5 minute drive to small town of Calamocha for good breakfast.
