great hotel in an excellent location . beautiful old building but lots of modern updates. right next to Metro .
The location couldn't be any better, center of Shanghai. The front desk staffs are nice and professional. I dropped my metro card in the lobby and didn't notice until next day. They kept it for me until I came back few days later. Really appreciate that. Thanks a lot.
Not exactly a 4 star property, but perfect location and totally adequate facilities. Wonderfully helpful staff. Next trip to Shanghai, we stay there again.
Lovely architecture well restored bu the room had issues, the aircon heat can not adjust and loose electric cables from the ceiling of the shower is a bit scary, mainataince need improvement and canbe noisy as windows insulation is soso
This historic building has been sensitively restored and the rooms refurbished (evidently quite recently). The location is great. I found my room very comfortable and the bathroom positively luxurious. Very good value for money. The reception desk staff were efficient and helpful. Breakfast was good, except for the coffee. I suggest investing in a good quality self-service coffee machine. The only thing lacking in the hotel was a coffee-shop type place where one could get a light meal, but there are plenty of options in the streets around. I also suggest providing a water-cooler in the lobby where one could refill a reusable bottle, rather than providing bottled water in the rooms: I believe the sort of people who stay here would want to be environmentally friendly.
solid hotel in peoples square
Location is close to People Square 20 minutes walk, subway station #8 around the corner. Hotel itself is dated, but the room was very comfortable.
With a bit more money would rather stay in a more modern hotel, closer to the center with breakfasts included and English speaking restaurant staff.
No information in room about hotel or services. No concierge just a stand with some leaflets advising what you can see mostly in chinese. Small reception area with small lounge. This is more of a buisness hotel and not for tourists.
Great location, beautiful lobby, pleasant room (furnishing), and pleasant front desk and cleaning staff. BUT, they are super stingy with air conditioning! The evening we checked in, there's no AC in the room at all. No matter what temperature we set the thermostat at, the room temp always registered at 74F. It might be an OK temp to sit around in, but def not what we'd want to be sleeping in under the lush feather bedding provided. Shutting off the air and opening the windows didn't help to cool down the room either, and only made it more humid. Turns out, the hotel had shut off AC because of the season change (it's Oct.) despite the fact that the day time outdoor temp is in the mid-70's the whole time we were there. The days after our complaint, we noticed that the air did get cool at some point during the day, but only for a few hours at a time. I'm sorry... if I'm paying a decent price to stay at a hotel , I expect to be able to set my own room temperature. This is not something the property management should dictate. I need that option.
Nice!
Amazing property and Perfect location. It was my first time in China and it was a blast. Looking forward to stay there again.
Staff was nice, rooms are clean, Japanies toilet seat that are heated were great!
Great location . The hotel is located in the center of the city . Near to a major subway transit station. Also surround by tons of different styles of restaurants . Many attractions are within walking distance .
Great location, price, renovation and service. Everything was perfect but except that it’s haunted. 😓 The entire night was ‘noisy’ at the walk away outside the room and some other ‘experience’.
Generally good, needs refurbishment. Good location for Nanjing road and the Bund.
Good breakfast for East and West tastes.
Did not like the construction works nearby that continued all night!
We stayed in 9 different hotels during our recent 24 day trip to China. The Metropolo was one of the best ones we stayed, although all our hotels were a good value for the money. The Metropolo has a great location just steps for a Metro station. The staff was excellent and the room was clean and very comfortable.
Everything was good at check-in. Good location right next to the metro station. Everyone here is very nice.
The hotel is 2 steps away from Da Shi jie Metro station and its effortless to find. However, it is quite shocking that they do not turn on the Air conditioning system due to the chill weather. The entire room lack of air flow and turned out humid. We found at least 4 mosquitoes inside the room flying around.
Convenient place. Near train station. Lots of restaurants near by. Good old hotel with history. Recommended for business traveler. Both room is updated.
