We chose it for its close location to the theatre royal. Staff were good on check in and check out, storing our bags whilst we went off to the Sainsbury Centre. The room was nicely decorated and was very comfortable. Nice touches like having a small brownie waiting in the room and fresh milk. Had one very nice beer in the pub. Didn't get the opportunity to eat there but it had a good vibe.
All relatively minor points but the exterior is pretty tired. Maybe avoid room 17 which is furthest away from reception above the pub entrance - the wifi is weak and kept dropping out and you are also close to the pub's bin areas so there was a bit of barrel work going on at 7:00 am. The shower is a large overhead rose, but there are no shower caps so not ideal if you don't want to get your hair wet. The shower grouting is getting quite discoloured. The only tea offered is breakfast tea.
I can only describe the place as adequate. The Barman seemed to be on another planet when I asked for a tonic water, his overall attitude was bordering on dumb insolence. The evening meal was disturbed by three children keep running through the restaurant . The waiter sorted this only after Chef told him to do so.
At breakfast there was only one waitress, she was lovely but totally rushed off her feet.
None of it really.
The rooms were outdated and walls were full of marks, the WiFi didn’t work and in the room there was no hot water.

Room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Property is situated on a busy road, but the traffic could not be heard and did not disturb us. Lovely modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good, several hot options, nice variety of buffet breakfast choices - altogether delicious.
No complaints- everything was adequate for our needs. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped - the staff were polite, friendly and helpful: perfect.
Good location. Friendly staff. Room had all facilities. Very hot water and good heating. Lovely view out of our window onto a blossoming tree. Good housekeeping, replenished towels and toilet rolls and made up room.
Breakfast bar didn’t have much selection. Fruit was either unripe or rotting. No plates out for the toast first day, no bowls for cereal second day.
Room was tired. Paintwork dirty and chipped. Desk top all scratched. Blanket on bed was very bobbly. Not a good first impression. There was a gap under door so not good for keeping noise out from corridor. Bedside lights too bright.
