Great location on the West Coast with stunning views.
Pros:

The Scenic Hotel was in an ideal location for an overnight stop between Greymouth and Westport. The view from the room and restaurant was exceptional of the rugged shoreline.

Super location, super staff, super view
Pros:

Nice rooms with an ocean view. Restuarant on site was very good as was breakfast. Staff were really engaging and helpful.

Cons:

Sand flies but really that's not their fault!
Coffee! In a country that serves the best coffee, almost everywhere, this was a shocker

The Hotel Punakaki was a great place to stay.
Pros:

The Hotel Punakaki was in a great location neara the Pancake Rocks. The room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view of the sea. The restaurant at the lodge served a nice dinner and we had a good breakfast in the morning as well.

Pros:

Our room looked out over a busy road, which was a bit of a surprise and the path the Rocks was a bit longer than expected - a solid 15 minute walk to the start of the Loop - but the facilities were easy enough to reach walking under a tunnel, and it was all very nice.

Simply stunning
Pros:

Beautiful location. Our room was lovely and comfortable , had everything we needed, and a view of the beach and waves. Within easy walking distance to the Punakaiki pancake rocks.

Should have been amazing but was just good
Pros:

Amazing luxury room w view of ocean.
Good selection of in flat stuff but missed a snack like a bag of nuts for taking meds with in a village w no supermarket, so easy to add a free snack food for that. Great bed, slept great!

Cons:

Shit windows that didnt close completely but had sand fly nets at least. Fixed shower head, get a hose (iirc). Checkout was required receptionist. Restaurant was overhyped and basic in execution tbh with mediocre service level but food decent but overpriced for quality.

Diarrhoea next day, there was no boil water notice on counter when checking in and no verbal notification, we saw a notice on counter when checking out, had noticed cloudy water in glass and water bottle we refilled but by then had drunk lots of water
