Breakfast was good enough. Not a huge selection but adequate and sensibly priced. The only thing is you have to go up a few steps to the restaurant. Anyone with a walking down may struggle. Same with our room. It was very nice with lots of space but again a small flight of steps to climb.
The location is excellent and views from the bar are lovely. The large field outside was brilliant for our dogs.
Staff were very friends and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We weee allowed to bring our breakdown to the bar are so that our dogs could stay with us. They even brought sausages down to the bar for our dogs.
Some areas of the hotel are tired and in need of an update. Mostly the corridors and carpets. Rooms, restaurants and bar are is fine though.
Steps up to restaurant could be an issue for some.
Bar food not available one night but we were warned in advance so could make alternative arrangements
Great view from the comfortable bar lounge.
We extended our stay to two nights, what a mistake. The second night upon our return from exploring the area, we were told there was no chef on duty so no evening meal was available, also they had to get an agency bar man to cover for absent staff.
On both days the bar only opened at 17:00.
Also our room had not been cleaned or serviced for a second night's stay. Dirty cups, unmade bed, litter not removed etc.
This is not what you expect from BW hotels.
Throughout this the reception staff and duty manager remained pleasant and apologetic, offering us a free drink in the bar.
Before I booked I like the outdoors as I have puppy I though that be great

After reading some of the reviews the hotel exceeded my expectations comfortably in a positive way Staff agreed to move me to room 25 with no fuss It’s a great location with lovely views out of the back

Dog friendly. Clean and tidy. Staff were superb. Lovely walk to the back of the hotel.
The room was redicously warm. Once windows open and radiators turned off, it It took all night to get to a comfortable temperature. Hardly slept. There was a fan in the room, so used that to circulate the warm air.

The room was so so hot. Iv stayed here a few times and each time has been to the same. I needed fan on all night, that made a clicking noise
As you would expect from a large hotel. Staff were very friendly, food was tasty and good.
Bit out of town along busy roads, we were on foot from the train station. Dog fee of £15 per dog always seems excessive but standard for many hotels.

Bathroom a bit small, shower wasn't very powerful & neither the bath nor the sink drained very well.
The hotel overall could do with a refurbishment.
