When we booked, the reviews at that time were great! I made the mistake of nipping on TA whilst on the transfer to the hotel, to read the onslaught of poor 1* reviews. It made my heart sink!
We had a fantastic stay! The rooms are basic, but spacious and the view from the large balcony is incredible.
The hotel was quiet, which contributed to our pleasant experience, the staff easily managing the bars and restaurant. There were a few issues, some of the staff were quite... well rude... Literally, a few individuals are letting down what could be a fantastic team. As retribution, I challenge the rude members of staff to find the loud dog that barks constantly through the night (located at the bottom of the valley) and silence it.
Breakfast was... meh... An omelette station or waffle iron would make the breakfast experience SO much better. I was really pleased with lunch and dinner. The selection of pasta dishes were hot, tasty and cooked very well! The crusted salmon was a particular favourite from the mains!
It's a shame the external jacuzzi tubs weren't working correctly (One empty and the other cold with no working jets), because that would have been such a nice experience.
Moretti on tap was lovely, as was the sparkling wine, but not much for the spirit lovers.
The views on the top terrace are incredible, evening full moon views reflecting on the ocean were super romantic, unlike the guy tinkling away on the keyboard (although the German guests loved him and his nightly repeated repertoire). The trio of Sicilian folk musicians were excellent, shame they couldn't play every evening instead!
We got great value for money, the food, location and views made the experience a good one. It's close to being an excellent hotel, but not quite there. I already miss the funicular elevator, which was...well.. FUN!
Had a good holiday here, some reviews extremely harsh but I would return.
Decor is very tired in places. All inclusive guest.
Drinks at pool bar are served in paper cups which displeases a lot of people. I would suggest travellers take their own plastic picnic style glass and decant.
Drinks in glass served in main bar at night and restaurant.
Music entertainment each night on Terrace bar.
Food - we thought was good everyday choices of pasta, meat, fish, salad, dishes. You can pay for pizza burger etc at lunch time at the Pool Bar. Yes the restaurant was full of chatter which I read in other reviews some people did not like.
Location good bus stop close by as is the train station. Trains were cheap and really nice.
10 mins walk away the town of Letojanni with lots of sea front bars and restaurants. We took a fab 2hr boat trip from here.
Staff work extremely hard and often lacked a smile for guests.
Felt safe and relaxed. If you are a sole traveller I know this important to know.
Other guests from all over the world were respectful . I have been many places where guests leave rubbish at their backside , play loud music from their phones pleased to say we did not encounter that.
At the weekend lots of Italians stayed a night which in my opinion is a good endorsement. (In a previous review I seen a guest complaining about Italians staying lol)
I would be more than happy to return here.
Nice place, fantastic location. Incredible view. Really firm mattress overall really good!
Alles prima, behalve een terugbetaling van 2 tenonrechte in rekening gebrachte diners die weliswaar beloofd is maar nog steeds niet op mijn rekening teruggestort is.
There were just so many things about this hotel that made this the worst holiday experience we can ever recall. I even suggested to our tour operator that they should send an employee as a mystery guest to review first hand this dreadful hotel. We spoke with a number of UK and German guests who all said the hotel was dreadful. The following is a summary of our experience staying at this hotel.
Hotel Bedroom
1. Very very dated ( probably 1970's).
2. Not safe in bathroom, tiled floor is not non-slip and extremely dangerous slip hazard when wet - nearly landed on the floor. We had to keep towels on the floor to stay safe as shower water would bounce onto floor when used. They supply a small towel to stand on but its not big enough as the water bounces everywhere.
3. Noise was terrible from adjoining rooms and above as walls and ceiling must be thin. We could hear showers being taken next door, especially from above our room. We could literally hear people above urinating into their toilet before flushing it. Furniture being moved around, especially the outside patio furniture, could be heard and would awaken us from around 6am.
4. No Satellite TV, No ENGLISH tv channels at all - just a few Italian TV channels, so really no point in a TV being in the room.
5. No Ironing Board and no Iron in room.
6. No alcoholic drinks in the mini fridge.
Restaurant
1. Absolutely no atmosphere at all in the main restaurant ( which was used for breakfast, lunch and dinner ). It reminded us of a school canteen. The photograph on the tour operators website of this hotel showing a lovely terrace with table cloths on tables ready to serve a meal is simply misleading as this is not the case at all. Meals were never served in a lovely setting like that, instead in a dreadful soulless mess hall which better describes it than a restaurant.
2. Food quality was absolutely dreadful. We did not go to Sicily to eat cold mashed potato, solidified pasta. The only thing that was edible was a bread roll and some ice cream. After a few attempts we gave up and had to pay to go out to eat.
3. Fresh pizza by the pool side was not fresh, the hotel had clearly used frozen pizza and then reheated. It was hard and again solidified cheese - disgusting.
Bars and Restaurant
1. This first point is the most SERIOUS as it involves potential theft from an employee. This same point has been verified by other holidaymakers who had the same experience to them as well. When I approached the bar in our sister hotel I asked the waiter for a Gin and Tonic. He was immediately loud and aggressive towards me and refused to serve me and was told All Inclusive does not apply to me, not everyone is all inclusive he said. I showed him my wrist band and said I was all inclusive, he raised his voice again shouting NO NO NO, then handed me a drinks menu and said I would have to pay for a drink. He was trying to get me to pay him for a drink I was already entitled to. I immediately went back up to our main hotel and spoke with a very helpful lady who was the duty manager that night. She immediately picked up the phone and called the other bar and spoke to the waiter concerned and told him we are all inclusive. His response to her was he didnt know we were English ( Strange that as he spoke to us in English and told me to leave unless I paid for my drink ). Interestingly the manager made a comment that slipped saying he has done this before. So very much worthy of investigation into this matter and individual.
2. All drinks (outside of the restaurant) were in paper cups, no glasses at all. Wine, coke, beer, it did not matter, you had to drink out of paper cups - hardly luxury to ask for a nice wine glass. Felt like we were drinking at a children's birthday party being forced to use only paper cups. This was probably the worst part of the holiday, especially when you see friends on social media on holiday drinking out of nice glasses and we are using paper cups ! Just lazy on the part of the hotel and also cheaper I assume than spending money on an employee who washes glasses, but this made our all inclusive experience unpleasant to say the least.
3. Hotel ran out of wine twice and tonic water three times ....Can you actually believe that, an all inclusive hotel that runs out of wine and tonic water, its ridiculous, especially as we paid over £3,500 to be told sorry no more wine !
4. No cocktails at all - that is just wrong.
5. Music was too loud, it was deafening, it was pumping out so loud by the pool ( all in Italian of course) . We had to leave and go to the sister hotel as it was quieter, but of course it doesnt have a pool bar, just warm water from a water machine that was not switched on. Just no thought at all from this hotel.
6. Green algae around the water edge of the sister hotel pool - clearly not been cleaned properly in a long time. Plus steps to the pool were nearly hanging off and dangerous to use.
7. Bouganville restaurant never opened.
8. Completely closed the bar in the sister hotel for several night forcing the residents to flock to the one bar that was open in the Olimpo, too busy.
9. Beautiful terrace bar closed for majority of stay and only opened the grotty area by the pool bar.
10. Entertainment was all in Italian, including can you believe it..... The comedian ! How the hell can any English guests understand an Italian comedian ? You just could not make this up, this hotel does not cater for UK guests at all, it is totally focused on Italian guests.
11. On some occasions, music was so loud, we had to carry our drinks ( in paper cups of course) down to the sister hotel using a lift then the cable car ( as of course the bar was closed in the sister hotel ).
12. Never knew which bar would be open, had to guess each night as there was no communication from the hotel on this.
13. Bar staff wanted to get off home early and would close the bar around 11.15 to 11.30 ( it should have been open to 12pm) I did flag this with our holiday rep and she seemed to have sorted it as it did not happen again. However the point is it did happen several times beforehand.
The Beech
1. Sunbeds were reserved on the beech for Olimpo guests. When we went to the beech we were told that by some young lad who was a lifeguard, that we had to sit on the 5th row or behind that as only the front rows were for the Italians - racist towards a minority and completely unacceptable.
So in summary don’t book this hotel as in my opinion the most dreadful holiday experiences ever.
Great hotel and view from the mountain, but not practical to enter or leave the hotel.
The hotel is in a good location with perfect views on beach and mountains.
Good was good did regular fish dishes and meat.however if your used to your classic English meals this hotel is not for you. and most of waiters was lovely.
Pool bar very disappointing served rock hard pizza, chip, chicken burger and hotdogs every day which got very boring. All drinks had to be in a plastic cup which led to guests taking glasses out of restaurant up to the pool bar. Website says it has three bars one was shut all the time which led to us sat in the pool bar listening to a very poor singer and his piano.
Entertainment team really could do with sorting out. Just ignored everyone who was English as they could not talk to us.
Had two children which got very bored on a night time.
Hotel was very clean and cleaning staff was fantastic.
Please do not come here. This could probably be called the worst hotel in Sicily.
We arrived on the coach downstairs, luckily it was not scorching and was a manageable heat. It took 30 minutes for the baggage people to come down, poor management on their behalf. They should be down when we arrive and we were told to carry down our suitcases when we leave so why couldn’t we carry them up?
The mountain elevator is horrible. It rattles and violently shakes and bounces up and down. It has not been serviced since 2024, service it.
The views when you survive the elevator are absolutely beautiful. From any parts of the hotel, including your balcony.
The drinks machines are most of the time covered/turned off? We come back from the beach and want a drink and we can’t get it because the machines are turned off. And when they are turned on, the alcohol is warm.
The pool is amazing. It deep (2m) and long. It is a bit dirty, but you can always avoid it. It’s definitely cleaned.
The entertainment is shocking. For a 5 grand holiday I honestly expect better because what is this? A man sitting behind an electric keyboard poorly singing EVERY night. No thanks. We told the entertainment staff we were English on the first day , since they asked. This hotel is advertised as an English one as well and the staff said “Sorry I can’t speak English, I try” ?? Why hire staff that can’t communicate with us. First and last time they spoke to us mind you. They spoke to every bed except ours, went around every table in the evening except ours. Please fire your entertainment staff and replace them. And while you’re at it, get rid of the piano guy, he’s not entertaining whatsoever.
The cable car to go from the sister hotel to Olimpo is ok, it’s high up and it’s kind of scary when it’s a tad windy. PUT AIR CON IN THE CABLE CAR AND THE ELEVATORS. IT IS BOILING. Speaking of elevators, they were also rattling and shaking but were serviced this year. BOUNCY TOO! One ended up being broken every couple of days (same one).
The food is so bad. Basically the same thing every night, puddings suck as well. Don’t come here because you literally won’t eat. Very upset about this considering it’s an all inclusive . Also, why do we have to drink out of paper cups? We paid over 5 grand to drink out of soggy paper cups that will break after 5 minutes? The catering staff are lovely, the only staff.
Wasps everywhere. Also, locals are everywhere too! Speaking of, they’re so incredibly rude and not well mannered. They smoke and blow it in your face. They push literal children out of the way and grown adults. They stand in the middle of the path. They scream at you. One Italian child tried to rob me, great! If you’re a foreigner and you want to be respected, don’t come here. If you’re an Italian and I’ve just described you, be my guest! It’s like a local only hotel. The staff respect the locals and cater to them.
The private beach is beautiful, the only thing that kept me going to be honest! If you don’t care about the hotel and only the surrounding area, the beach is WONDERFUL!
Rooms are small and the walls are paper thin, for a week our Italian neighbours (no surprise) was having a domestic every morning. It was a screaming match. And they had a child! We could hear everything. Including outside, the doors were not that good. Balcony was nice. Bathroom was like a swimming pool when we took a shower. The door blocking the shower from the rest of the room was broken, so it leaked water and flooded the bathroom every time the shower was used. We also told the front desk that our air con in the bathroom wasn’t working on day 2, it was never fixed. We were there for a horrid 14.
DO NOT COME HERE!
I would say it’s a 3 star hotel, very noisy in the hallways. Screaming children. People knocking on wrong door. Pool area packed with kids who dive with permission. No space for adults. Sun beds packed like sardines in a can. Pool towels are changed for an extra fee. Restaurant like a school cafeteria loud and chaotic. Good thing was a a descent gym.
Great hotel! The location is perfect for transport by train or bus.
The rooms were also great. If I were to complain about something it's that there were a lot of ants in our room. The breakfast was very boring and tasteless (except the croissants). There were also not much information about the opening hours of the facilities. The pool closed at 18:00, which is very early in my opinion. The interns working there are also severely overworked. They told us that they often finish at 3:00 and have to get up again at 7:00 to go to work. That's actually insane.
Besides that, everything about our stay was perfect. The pool, the staff, the cleaning and the facilities are great. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Not a great place... its like staying on a cheap cruise ship on land
Having stayed at this hotel 3 years ago, we knew it offered something different (funicular and cave walk to beach) and fantastic views. In particular the staff are so friendly and ready to help at all times. This stay was no different. Special mention goes to the Enterrainment team - Chirro, Angelica, Andrea and Ettore Mase it a very personal and fun experience. They all had time for us and arranged karaoke so I could sing which was wonderful. The food is plentiful and varied and I had a massage which although was carried out quickly - it was very relaxing thanks to Ramona. Thoroughly recommend.
This hotel was a zoo. Unbeknownst to us, this hotel offers an all inclusive option and caters to young families. This is not a place to go if you are looking for a relaxing or romantic experience.
The hotel is old, probably built in the 60’s and hasn’t changed since. Very outdated.
The beds are extremely uncomfortable - you can feel every spring. And each time you turn over, you can hear the crinkle of the plastic mattress cover.
The breakfast buffet was poor…better food at a school cafeteria.
The pool was filled with smokers, domestic arguments, and screaming children.
Choose a different hotel, unless you like chaos and unrest.
Belle situation.
Mais meriterait une mise aux gouts du jour.
Le restaurant buffet est plus une cantine qu un restaurant avec du personnel tres peu souriant ... 4 * par les equipements seulement.
Very clean, quiet and lots of entertainment.
Had an amazing vacation. The room was amazing with our Sea view. The staff was very helpful. The only thing I think could be improved upon is the breakfast was always just plain could be spiced up a little bit.
