Very clean and just a few steps away from everything. The guy at the desk was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed and had some good suggestions on where to go do some fun stuff. Will definitely be back.
A little old but very quaint! Great walking distance to all of the action in Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Free coffee and a biscuit in the morning and a limited amount of free parking spaces! We got ours and left the vehicle parked and walked!
The hotel itself is charming in a old Texas way. I actually liked the old school Texas country feel. The bed wasn’t bad and was clean. The walls could use a good scrubbing. The rooms are small but have everything you need. The location is great, super close to stockyards and shopping. Overall not a bad place to stay.
Weds a deep cleaning and some update
Would not recommend. Everything looked okay til we got in our room. The walls had streaks of I dont know what dripping down them and the matteresses were stained really bad. Ac was ducked taped to the window and the shower was disgusting. I didnt want to touch anything in that room
Look, the ritz it ain't. But if you're looking for an inexpensive, comfortable place to lie your head, a mirror to check your face and a simple enough shower, and you don't need to be coddled or pampered, look no further than Hotel Texas.
We're locals, and could easily stay there again. However, both of us agree that more than one night might be pushing it; 2 max (partly for the hotel, mostly because it's the stockyards).
It's a block away from main street and at least one bar directly north, south, east and west of the property. If nothing else, the lack of amenities will force you out and into everything the stockyards has to offer (still haven't figured out what that is; it's just cows and cowboys, people). In fact, I have more negative comments about cattleman's and H3. I've had better steaks AND I didn't have to endure all the hokey kitsch.
And a shout out to the guy at the front desk. Couldn't have been nicer or more hospitable.
Pros: Nice location, cheap price. Perfect place to stay if you are going to the StockYards.
Cons: Rooms need to be Updated
Hotel Texas is in close proximity to all things Fort Worth Stockyards. However, the hotel is VERY old and in desperate need of up keep.
The property is convenient for the Stockyards. Rooms were ok, I have stayed here a few times now and I would stay there again.
Wonderful location, clean rooms and friendly service! We will be back!
Very old. Bad tv’s. Staff was rude. Rooms are very very small. No shampoo in room.
Walking distance to billy Bob’s
I was a little worried reading some of the reviews but We was impressed with the building and the room was clean and comfortable... would stay there again
Very small room but close to everywhere in the FTW Stockyards. Only issue was that the window had an air conditioner in it, but the sides were open to the outside! What the...???? See pic
We have stayed here a few times now, it is perfect to enjoy the local night life and have virtually no commute!
Its good if you just need a bed. There was a jetted tub with no way to stop the water, the spout was disconnected and spewed water everywhere. Caulking was nasty and moldy. Window a/c that had a hole to outside and when mentioned to the front desk, they offered duct tape. They did offer a different room, so that was polite.
Amenities: Cable TV is one station in Spanish, on an old.Zenith tv that had buttons missing. The remote control didn't work, I had to stand on my toes to switch stations, and only found one. Night stand lamp, lightbulb was out. No toilet paper roll holder, paper roll was left on the floor, I put it on the back of the toilet bowl tank. Bed was at least 20 years old, but ample sheets and blankets. They offer 24 hr desk service, we.left.eary in the morning about 530 am, I rang the desk bell, no one came to the desk, so I had to.leave the key upfront. Doors are left unlocked all night long, anyone can come in at any time. It is however right square in the middle of all the stock yard venues, shopping, food, bars, and museums
The location to the main stockyards area was ideal but the condition of the hotel was a disgrace, it was a 1 or 2 star establishment yet Expedia charged us a 4-5 star price
It was conveniently located allowing us to easily walk to all the venues we were interested in.
Hotel is convenient to the Stockyard and is slightly less expensive than other nearby hotels. It is adequate and clean, but very basic: tiny rooms (about 12x12), no closet or hanging space, just a hard chair in the room to sit on, and it needs a lot of maintenance and repairs. The bed was comfortable, but the loud music from the bar next door went way into the night and made sleep difficult.
