HYATT House Shelton

When we arrived the room we booked was not available. They “upgraded” us to a king suite- but given we were a family of 3 - we had to utilize the pull out couch as a sleeping option for one of us- which was not ideal ( instead of the two Queen beds we reserved). There was also water stains on the shades and in the bathroom artwork. It appeared it was from old water damage.

The refrigerator in our room had an intermittent whirring sound over the course of the night accompanied by a clicking noise which together were enough to interrupt and ruin our night's sleep. On that basis alone, our stay was a big disappointment. I notified the desk of the issue in the morning.

Nothing!

TV didn't swivel all the way to the living room. You could not sit on the couch and watch tv because the tv wasn't able to function correctly. Swivel all the way around.

The bed was very uncomfortable. No cushion or support. The pillows went flat as soon as you laid on them.

The extremely dirty window shades.

This Hyatt is undergoing renovations; however, the room we were in had already been renovated. Let me say - it still needs work. The bathroom shower is poorly designed - the first night the water leaked out the shower all the way into the closet outside. The next time we showered we decided to slide the shower doors opposite from the first night; that didn’t work either, less water leaked out but it still leaked out. There is no ventilation system in the bathroom, there’s a vent but that didn’t work. The bathroom had holes in the back of the door like there used to be a hook for towels but that was missing. Also, at the bottom of the shower near the door - that needs so finishing touches, it’s missing either tile or just isn’t completed properly. The other major flaw was the TV. It doesn’t swivel all the way around so the point of having a suite king room is moot bc you can’t even utilize the sofa to relax and watch TV bc you can only watch if you’re laying in bed. Thank god the bed was comfortable. That was the only good thing abt this hotel. The best part was when we asked for a late check out for 1pm, the hotel front desk had the audacity to state it’s $25. I understand policy; however, NEVER have I ever had to pay ANY hotel additional monies to check out late. Also considering the many issues - I think the hotel staff could have granted us the extra hour at no charge. This will be the last time I stay at this Hyatt. The contractor Hyatt hired for this job is definitely cutting corners and the company needs to check the rooms once the contractor states it’s complete. Terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend.

The room design was poor. There was not a door between the sink and bed, so using the sink before my husband was asleep was difficult. Breakfast was fair at best, Mc Donald's had more flavor .
And the desk staff was rude.
This is the most expensive hotel in the area, and not at all worth the extra cost, in my opinion.

Nothing

I did not like that the laundry is coin operated ( you can purchase quarters at the front desk )and that you can not use your debit or credit card. I don't always carry cash.. There are only 2 washers. I wish there had been at least 1 more washer with an agitator. There are 6 dryers so that is a plus.
