Strongly Do Not Recommend
Pros:

One thing after another with this place. I am optimistic and trying to see the bright side. But it just keeps getting darker.

My biggest issue was finding a plate of drugs in the room. Clearly they didn’t clean the kitchenette or look in the drawers. I am so thankful my kids didn’t get into it!

Also, room not ready when we came after check in time and was told no idea when it would be ready and no way to tell.

Key card reader battery broken. Went to drop some stuff at hotel room quick before we had scheduled tour in 15 minutes. Can’t get in, had to leave our things with front desk and weren’t able to gather what we needed from the room.

Hotel generally messy and dates. Many areas of chipped paint, rips in carpet etc.

Close to PNC park but would avoid at all costs.

The room was in dire need of repairs
Pros:

The only thing we liked was the courtesy of the staff.

Cons:

There was no AC in any common areas. There was only 1 elevator out of 3 that were working. When we checked out (a day early) we waited 40 minutes and still not able to get on an elevator. A very kind guest carried our luggage down the stairs to the lobby. We are elderly and my husband has medical conditions. The front desk staff didn’t care. They just sorry but didn’t sound like they meant it

Stay anywhere else!!
Pros:

Stay anywhere else! Mold on the AC vents in the bedroom! Mold and ceiling coming down in shower! Holes in the sheets. Water never got any warmer than lukewarm. Not enough water pressure to rinse the soap out of your hair. Carpets dirty and stained. Couch pretty much falling apart.
Staff was rude on check in.
The rest of the time they just seemed to be on their cell phones.
Wear and tear I can deal with but mold is unacceptable, ceiling peeling with mold in it in the shower and holes in the sheet was just too much. This can not be healthy!!
We have stayed at many Residence Inn across the country and never experienced anything like this.
Cut our stay here short and checked out early!!
Just don’t go!!

Do Not Stay Hete
Pros:

My stay at the Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore was terrible. The property is filthy and badly outdated. The rooms need serious upkeep, with busted furniture, stained upholstery, ripped carpet, and an extremely uncomfortable mattress. The breakfast area had no AC in the morning, and the common areas were just as dirty as the rooms. The staff was completely indifferent and showed zero interest in making the stay comfortable. I will never stay here again.

Worst Residence Inn on our Cross Country Road Trip
Pros:

I have become pretty familiar with Residence Inns because they have been a go-to on our cross country road trip. We have had great experiences with them—until we arrived in Pittsburgh North Shore. When we arrived, the lobby was uncomfortably warm inside. The clerk, who was really sweet and friendly, asked us how high up we wanted to be. We asked for a high floor, and she accommodated us by giving us a room on the 10th floor. What she failed to mention is that there was only one operating elevator that was very glitchy—especially as people on all the floors were calling the elevator and the cleaning staff had to use it for all their cleaning bins. We had a loaded cart, waiting about 20 minutes for the lone elevator. Other people were waiting, too.

Once we got to our room, I was pleased that it was cool. But I could tell that it sees a lot of traffic—a little on the worn side. The sink was slow draining.

When we decided to head out and explore Pittsburgh, we had to walk ten flights down because for some reason the elevator wasn’t servicing the 10th floor. One guy walked down to the 6th floor and caught the elevator there. In my mind, all I could think of was how we would get all of our gear down the next morning. So my whole evening had a low level anxiety of how we were ever going to get our stuff out and down 10 floors.

We woke up early to beat the rush of people to the elevator, and thankfully we were able to get a cart up, loaded, and then down again.

Breakfast was like eating in a sauna. The food and service were fine, but everyone was sweltering.

This was by far the worst Residence Inn we’ve had. We suggested to the manager that at the very least the staff should warn customers that there was limited or no elevator access. Had we known, we would have chosen the first floor to stay on. While the staff were polite and friendly, they didn’t seem to take initiative—as if by not acknowledging there was a glaring elevator problem, the problem did not exist. They were generally ineffectual. Apparently they had been working on this elevator issue for 3 days, with no resolution. I don’t know why the lobby and breakfast area was so hot—was the AC broken or is it their policy to not use AC in this area?

Worst experience ever
Pros:

Being a Marriott Bonvoy member for a while, you expect a level of service as standard on any hotel from this chain. I travel frequently and have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had.

While there were several issues throughout our stay, including housekeeping which didn't show up, missing basic kitchen items, and unreliable cable TV service, the most serious incident occurred when the hotel checked us out of our room while we were still guests.
Without any prior notice, the front desk processed our checkout and even charged us an early departure fee. When I questioned it, I was told that our room keys had been returned, which was simply impossible since my wife and I still had both keys with us at the time.
What was most frustrating was not only the mistake itself, but the lack of care and professionalism in handling the situation. This incident, combined with the many other service failures during our stay, left us extremely disappointed.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel and would not consider staying here again.
Anything good? Yes, location is terrific and breakfast is good, but that's it.
