comfortable, convenient location
liked everything
The convenience to UNC. It's pet friendly, so if visiting in the future, good to know.
It smelled like cigarettes, very stale. The pool was very small. The cushions were dirty at the pool. The staff on Wednesday 7/8 was quite rude and appeared to have their child assisting at the front desk. When asked about a difference in the charge I received on that day vs the booking charge and getting an itemized bill she said "you will get that upon check out", with no desire to explain that it was a temporary hold. The lady the next morning was very polite explained everything and apologized. It appeared the bar was closed, not saying I would have utilized it, but if we decided to stay there in the future, if our daughter chooses to go to school here, it might be nice to be able to have a drink after a long day. The showers are also very small, and for 2 people, especially ladies there should always be 4 towels included. We made due and didn't want to deal with requesting more for a one night stay, but if it had been longer, it may have been a different story. They also had lots of candy, etc, appeared to be free to my 17 year old, I told her it probably wasn't. It didn't have any type of pricing, marking "for purchase", how would you know? If these items are for sale they need to be labeled as such or obviously they will be there for the taking. Just from an observant eye and a very nieve teenager.
Great location and room size
The AC was loud and kept waking us up because it kept turning on and off on its own.
This was my first time booking/checking in/checking out for a hotel all on my own, and the staff made it SO easy for me. Super kind, very helpful, everyone was so wonderful, thank you! Bed cozy as hell 10/10
The wifi was REALLY bad, probably could have asked for help with it, but it wasn't worth it since I was only there one night. Sink was weird, if you only turned it on slightly it went on the counter but not too bad. Blinds worked but they got a bit wonky when used, still closed though so no biggie.
The staff was super friendly and attentive!!!
The gym needs attention and more equipment.
A very attractive and functional room.
I would appreciate decaf coffee in the lobby as well as gluten free breakfast options. Note that unless oats are certified gluten free, they can’t be consumed by those needing a gluten free diet.
It’s clean nice staff but room bright lot street noise
Clean
It has been 12 days since our terrible stay at this hotel. We have emailed the hotel general manager and the Aloft regional vice president with these issues and neither has closed the case to our satisfaction. The most recent correspondence was on May 15 when the regional manager for Schulte Hospitality Group said she’d review the issues.
Throughout our 3-night stay, we experienced repeated room access failures involving both mobile and physical room keys over multiple consecutive days. Even the master key from the front desk wouldn’t work. These issues occurred at especially difficult times, including during a medical emergency that required an ER visit, leaving us unable to access our room, belongings, coats, or personal items late at night while dressed for formal graduation events.
Most concerning was that after we were assured the matter had been resolved by engineering, the failures continued repeatedly. We were told Marriott was upgrading the system. I would like to think that Marriott is too smart a company to plan an upgrade on a nationwide graduation weekend that also happens to be Mother’s Day when most all hotels are filled to capacity.
Additionally, despite personally notifying housekeeping that our room was vacant and ready for service, returning late in the evening with graduating family members to find the room completely unserviced further compounded the frustration and embarrassment.
Such a shame that Marriott is not taking this matter seriously.
