Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to visit many countries and stay in many hotels and without doubt, this was by far the worst.
The safe was broken, trapping my passport and valuables, the WiFi rarely worked unless you went to the reception area, the room fan was noisy (I had to turn it if to sleep), the shower smelt awful, reception was rarely manned and WattsApp requests for help went largely ignored, until I got my travel agent to call them.
The place itself was very basic and the breakfast minimal, which in itself isn't a problem, but add in the thin walls so you can hear your neighbours, loud roosters, and uncaring staff and you decide very quickly that somewhere else, in fact anywhere else, would have been better. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.
Well below american standards. No air conditioning, terrible beds and pillows, bedspreads that have not been changed for awhile. Service is good.
On the plus side, this is a charming place with air-conditioning and very close to town.
It does have some cats that wander around the gardens, but I love cats so that was ok.
What I don't love is being woken after 3am each morning by the competing cockerels. A cock-a-doodle do at 6am sunrise I can just about cope with but these blighters had their own idea of what time constituted a wake up call. Really bad for a hotel whose main function is providing a nights sleep.
Another thing I'm not fond of is cockroaches. Unfortunately, Easter Island is full of them (and they are giants) so I can't blame the hotel for having some visit my room. What I can object to though is having a dead one on the floor whilst having breakfast and the staff ignore it rather than clearing it away.
The property was convenient for our stay and was recommended by Viator for our tour pick-up. Front desk staff was very friendly and helped us when we needed a last minute tour guide fill-in. Air conditioning was great, nice big shower. Very noisy roosters during the night, beds sag in the middle so did wake up a few times. Breakfast does not start until 8, including no coffee so not helpful for an early start. We were surprised with all the chickens around there were no eggs, not even hard-boiled for breakfast.
We really appreciated the pick up at the airport and beautiful flower necklaces. From our arriving Cony has been very nice, always smiling and helpful with us for anything we asked for. She booked our 3 greats tours, gave us many reference for restaurants, boutiques, cafés, etc. Thank you so much Cony !!! xxx
The hotel is really well located like 5 mn from the harbour, restos and Moais around the city. A lots of flowers, gardens, chicken & roosters roaming there. The buffet place was clean and meals good but I missed some eggs. Our room was fine but the quality sleep was a bit bad with the roosters singing-yelling from 6 am, sometimes before. And then, all the rooster from the city are responding. Anyway. Thank you to Mr Joseph who gave us a nice lift to go back to the airport.

This is a well located hotel a short walk from the harbour with some decent size rooms and lush tropical gardens but is a very basic hotel with limited facilities and the disadvantage of free range chickens roaming the gardens. They look cute but if the entire point of a hotel is for you to sleep in it, here you have no chance of sleeping as the competing cockerels start off well before dawn meaning you have no chance of sleeping beyond 6.30am. To add insult to injury there are no kettles in the rooms and no tea or coffee making facilities in the lobby (or anywhere to get drinking water in the hotel) so you have to wait a couple of hours amidst the cacophony of the chickens for breakfast to open to get a drink. Breakfast itself is amongst the worst I have eaten in years, not even any fresh eggs from the chickens! I think standards may have slipped post COVID but this hotel needs to seriously up its game.
Good location, just 10-15 mins walk to the town centre and the sea side. Room is clean, but the bathroom is bit narrow. The staff is helpful, he gave us a lot of great suggestions about our trip. Nice breakfast but do not have many options.
Rosters are really annoying : ( They start screaming 4am in the morning everyday.
Accommodations are simple but more than sufficient. The room was quite large. The grounds are very nice. Breakfast is very good, although do not expect a wide variety of options. The location is convenient to the city center.
Those chickens are loud! You don't need to set an alarm clock anywhere in Hanga Roa. The roosters will be up at the first moment of sunlight. And the bed is a little uneven.
Fabulous hotel, great room with a really nice shower. Rooms and bathroom were clean and plenty of room, WiFi was available in reception area, good enough for me to ring home on WhatsApp.breakfast was a good choice of buffet style, 5 minutes walk to the harbour.
This hotel was recommended to us. We like the ethos of Eco. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were really helpful. Food was good at a reasonable price. It also has a fantastic view of the island from the balcony. Centre of town was an easy walk.
Eco Lodge is a simple 3 star hotel that charges prices of a luxury resort, because of course the principle of supply and demand applies throughout Easter Island.
It is very well located for walking to downtown, restaurants, dive centers and seeing a range of Moai statues.
The rooms are very simple and in need of a makeover.

The eco lodge was a good base for our stay in Hanga Roa. An easy walk into town for restaurants, the museums, sunsets etc and a good safe place to stay to explore the island from. A few parking spots, or ample spaces on the road outside.
The rooms are basic and as advertised. The property is a little dated, but set amongst some beautiful plants with chickens and cats roaming around. Our room was simple but adequate, it was clean, the shower was good and being open to open the patio style door let in lots of fresh air. Towels were old and scratchy.
Breakfast was simple, but adequate to set you up for the day and the service was always smiley - some very nice juices, bread for toasting, one cereal choice, tea, coffee, cheese, meat, fruit....
Back to the ‘eco’ part. Not sure where this fits in, maybe the grounds and the plants, but at breakfast, jam is in little plastic containers, the butter is imported from Chile as is almost everything else. Just not sure where their ‘eco’ credentials come from?
All in all, adequate, it did the job for a reasonable price.
No Wi-Fi except in lobby which was a little dissapointing.
We stayed 3 nights and at the reception were constantly changing people, so no customer-friendly bond was built. The rooms were without atmosphere and the lodge is dated and needs a major update. The breakfast was of a moderate level and the service staff virtually invisible and not customer friendly. From our room we had a desolate view of gas bottles and wooden pallets that stood on the property.
The word Eco does not cover the load, when we entered our room there was penetrating chlorine air, which lasted for the rest of the days.
The location is great for strolling around Hanga Roa. Museum, Tahai, restaurants, shopping, ATMs all within walking distance. The rooms are clean & comfortable. But i couldnt understand the total lack of ventilation. No windows in the room. French windows that you cant really keep open. A fan that barely moves - whether its on 1 or 5.
The breakfast was good & the breakfast terrace lovely. ( the only spot you can get a peek at the sea). But no other meals are served. There is a counter where you can get soft drinks etc.
If you are not hankering after a " sea view' from your room, this place..is a good choice.
