A pleasant stay.
Pros:

A characterful pub where we received a warm welcome. Our room was fine. The archetypal pub room being quite compact but spotlessly clean and with most mod cons albeit it was a bit tired at the edges, but nothing of significance. Everything worked and it was comfortable.
Breakfast was delightful and the staff friendly and attentive . Its location in the heart of Totnes with some limited parking is excellent.
It may have justified 5 stars but for the thin walls and creaky floorboards. Not every guest is considerate to others and my wife and I did not want to be kept awake by the animated conversation next door. Nor to be woken from our warm and peaceful slumbers at 7 a.m. on a Sunday by those above seemingly attempting to get their daily 10,000 steps completed by 8 a.m. A little surprised that they didn't come crashing through the ceiling.
That apart, a pleasant and enjoyable stay and decent value too.

Beautiful old coaching inn.
Pros:

Warm welcome, ambience. Beautiful hotel..old coaching inn, very historical. Good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Beds comfortable.Very well placed to walk into town. Breakfast excellent and lots of choice including excellent vegan choice.

Cons:

Could do with blackout curtain..too much light through curtain in morning. Room quite basic but homely.Bar closed at 11pm..would have been nice to drink later as a hotel guest.

Pros:

Very friendly. Clean and comfortable and well equipped rooms with most mod cons, albeit a bit " elderly" in places. Excellent breakfast. First class service throughout. Just a shame the walls are so thin and the floors and ceilings aged and creaky. Inconsiderate neighbours can impact upon the quiet enjoyment of your stay ( as in our case) but we still had a thoroughly good time and were happy with our choice.

Cons:

Sound insulation rather lacking but it is an old biilding.
