I chose the Barceló Jerez Montecastillo hotel, expecting the standards normally associated with a four-star hotel in the Barceló chain. Unfortunately, this stay turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had.
The bathroom was poorly designed and impractical. There was no shower curtain or screen, so after every shower the entire bathroom floor was flooded. There was also virtually no space to store toiletries. These are basic expectations for a hotel of this category.
After complaining at reception, we were given keys to a new room that was already occupied. When we returned to reception with all our luggage, the receptionist was taken aback. She then used a master key to open a series of rooms that were not even ready for guests (late July, the height of the season). After searching together for an available room, we eventually found room 060, which had been cleaned. However, the door to the terrace on the ground floor would not close. We decided to wait for a technician to fix it, as we had had enough of lugging our luggage around – which we had packed in a hurry while moving from room to room.
The most frustrating aspect was that these issues were not isolated incidents, but reflected a lack of attention to detail and quality control. I paid £440 for two nights, and the standard fell far short of what I had come to expect from the Barceló brand.
It is a shame, because the hotel has potential, but the condition of the rooms and the overall standard of maintenance seriously detract from guests’ comfort. I have raised my concerns directly with Barceló’s head office, as I believe these are issues that require attention at management level.
I cannot recommend this hotel until significant improvements have been made.

The AC didn’t work well at all. Hot to sleep. Smelled of Majuana for 3 nights straight because they allowed a singer to smoke on my floor.

Nuestra estancia en el Barceló Montecastillo Golf fue simplemente excepcional. Desde el primer momento nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos gracias a la amabilidad y profesionalidad de todo el personal. La habitación era amplia, muy limpia y cómoda, con una cama perfecta para descansar.
Las instalaciones están impecablemente cuidadas. La piscina, los jardines y el entorno del campo de golf crean un ambiente de tranquilidad ideal para desconectar.
La gastronomía merece una mención especial. Tanto el almuerzo como la cena fueron espectaculares, pero el buffet de la cena nos sorprendió especialmente por su gran variedad, la calidad de los productos y lo bien presentado que estaba todo. El desayuno también es excelente, con muchísimas opciones para todos los gustos.
Destacaría especialmente la atención al cliente, siempre atentos a cualquier detalle y con una sonrisa. Sin duda, es un hotel al que volveremos y que recomendamos al 100 % para disfrutar de unos días de descanso, ya sea en pareja, en familia o por motivos de trabajo. ¡Una experiencia de diez!
