Nice facilities, but poor valet service and issues with room
Pros:

Room was clean and the climate control worked well. Was told at check in (about 5:30 pm) that the restaurant was closed due to a large wedding event (not sure why that would cause a restaurant to close), but the front desk clerk did give us access to the exec lounge. The food in the lounge was better than expected and we were able to have a full meal (which helped to cover the cost of one night of valet parking at $52!)

Cons:

The toilet valve made a whistling noise. The coffee maker in the room did not work and we had to contact front desk to get a replacement, all at 4:00 am since the executive lounge did not open until 6:30 am. Then I had to wait over 40 minutes for my vehicle to be retrieved (after calling the front desk to have it retrieved ahead of my exit from the room) from the valet parking because the valet didn't realize it was parked across the street at another hotel. He sat at the parking lot gate waiting for someone from the other hotel to let him out (over 15 minutes). I finally walked over to the truck with my bag and got in the truck at the other hotel. Ridiculously long wait!

Extremely disappointing
Pros:

Avoid this hotel, there are likely better options nearby. Stayed one night 3/27 to 3/28 with family of 4 including two children. Upon arrival was greeted by lots of drunk people in the massive lobby bar. Not great for kids. Room was not the cleanest, and lacking sufficient towels despite family of four on reservation. Beds were extremely uncomfortable (actually the hardest, most uncomfortable beds we have ever had anywhere--like sleeping on the floor). Paid for concierge access. Went to concierge lounge Saturday morning for breakfast and was greeted by sign saying the concierge room is closed on the weekends? What??? Went to lobby to ask about breakfast and was directed to go across to the street to another hotel where we paid lots of money for disappointing food. Yikes. Did I mention the half finished glass of whiskey we saw Saturday morning sitting on the side-table next to the seventh floor elevator that had probably been here all night? Oh, I also had to pay 30 dollars to park my rental for an hour while checking out. Overall this property is vastly below Marriot standards. Avoid.

In addition, I provided the above feedback privately using Marriot's internal feedback process and had no intention of leaving a public review. To be clear I did not ask for anything, just raised concerns. The response I received was dismissive and disingenuous, and started by thanking me for finding "the cleanliness and staff service to be satisfactory", which is is both untrue and entirely beside the point of my complaints. The review experience was so off-putting and dismissive I felt compelled to leave public reviews. Do better Marriot.

Successful stay at Marriott Gateway Atlanta airport
Pros:

We spent a night at the hotel this week en route from Puerto Rico back to the UK. Thanks to the skytrain it’s very very convenient. The hotel is opposite the skytrain station. Our room faced the skytrain but we heard no noise whatsoever.

The room and bathroom were good and we also used the on site Starbucks and then crossed the road to the sister hotel, the Renaissance for breakfast.

Staff on reception were very friendly and they stored our luggage for a few hours after we checked out.

I’d definitely stay here again if we pass through Atlanta airport.

Convenient for airport travel
Pros:

Hotel downstairs

Cons:

Bed was like a full not even a queen and very low to the ground. Huge bathroom...for no reason.

Pros:

The room was ok and the place was clean.

Cons:

I paid almost 270 USD for 1 night. For a Marriot I would have expected at least a complimentary bottle of water in the room. Even at the reception I wasnt inform that I should get one downstairs.
It felt like motel service.
I contacted the Hotel 2 times when I reserved to asked for an Airport shuttle (which is free) and they didnt answer. So I took a taxi.

The next morning I asked for a taxi and they gave me an airport shuttle which charged me the same as the taxi.

I feel that this hotel was more a scam to be honest. or just not a Marriot.
