Old, quirky full of character.
Great staff, comfy bed, decor full of character and wooden panelling, good range of drinks, pleasing large outdoor area, free on-site parking with plenty of security cameras covering the whole property and a very good perfect cooked to order breakfast 🍳
Nothing to dislike here. A few minor points - a bit of wear and tear on the bedroom carpet and a bit of road noise...not criticisms because the pricing is very good for this hotel.
The room and its setting were great - especially having Mr Grundy's Tavern on site.
I didn't spot any instructions for the shower. But I managed.
Great hotel, owner was really lovely, very chatty. Bonus it’s attached to the pub which has great food and then up the stairs to bed. Very quirky inside with lots of antique bits and pieces. There weren’t enough plug sockets but had it not been hot and needed a fan we would have been ok for chargers
The staff were nice
The room looked poorly cleaned, with dusty furniture and carpet. It was also very hot and the old fan in the room barely blew any air.
Cost/location/decor
Cobwebs, broken shower waste pipe, knackered curtain runners and really loud scraping front door.
Great location, superb cooked breakfast and the staff were so friendly
Big room and friendly staff. Bar and beer garden were really good.
Toilet barely worked and we booked breakfast but when we went downstairs the restaurant was closed and we were told by a cleaner that no one was in.
I liked the round window
Well appointed rooms, lovely beer garden and good food from the pub linked to the hotel. Very friendly staff.
More choice at breakfast would be good, it was quite sparse.
Double room was pleasant enough for the second night, but rather dated and in need of a little TLC
Being kept awake most of the first night in the single room, by the occupant next door who had their TV on ALL night and loud. It wasn't dealt with particularly satisfactorily by the staff the next day - they simply moved me to another room.
The hosts were friendly, helpful, and made everything easy from check-in to departure. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the location was lovely. However, our room wasn’t part of the main house, was quite noisy, and unfortunately didn’t feel as clean as expected. We’d recommend booking well in advance to try and secure one of the better rooms in the main building.
