We had a lovely large room with a large bed. Reasonable sized shower cubicle, and water was very hot.
The carpet definitely hadn't been vacuumed! Bits all over the floor. No breakfast at the hotel, so had to walk into town the next morning to get something to eat. There was a bar downstairs, that also served food. But it wasn't the most appealing looking, so found a lovely place a 5 minute walk away.
The staff was amazing especially considering that we had been severely delayed by P&O ferries and arrived very late. It was a last minute booking and the rooms were wonderful, our children were in a family room and couldn't believe how comfortable and pretty it was. Our dog was welcomed and they gave us dog bowls. We had never been to Folkestone before and to discover that wonderful coastline on our doorstep was such a treat in the morning.
Near the beach , clean and tidy
3 rd floor no lifts. Shower too small
Location
Quite rough. Hit rock burns on carpet. Looked like someone had smoked in room. Carpets didn't fit. Tiling in bathroom poss done by 5 year old. Very tired. Fan in bathroom sounded like someone strangling a chicken.
Great location for an overnight stay before catching the Eurotunnel early morning next day. The family was very comfortable for a family of 4. Close to the high street and shops/ eateries. Staff was very helpful and professional, eager to help. Late check in was not an issue. The hotel has a very lively bar which we would love to visit if we would have to get up at 4:30am next morning. Overall, good value for money.
There isn’t anything I can think of that we didn’t personally like.
We ended up staying in their sister hotel as the Portland had a water leak. Was better for us as we had a lovely sea view from our room. The room was very big and clean beds & bathroom. Would stay again.
The windows wouldn’t stay open.
Exceptional value for money. The location is fantastic and the room had sea views
One very slight thing that the staff need to be aware of is that the deadlock button on the Yale lock was missing and with the current focus on hotel security they should consider checking whether they should add something like a chain to the doors. I felt fine but some other people may feel uncomfortable.
Absolutely recommend
Everything was brilliant.
Great value for money.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm. Facilities were good. Tea making equipment in the room along with towels and shower shampoos etc. Discount in the bar. Parking was easy to get
Rooms are showing the age of the building so looking a little tired. But clean and tidy.
Very noisy neighbour till 3 am
Location is ideal.
24hrs before our stay, was contacted by manager, stating a maintenance issue, & asked to be moved into , in my opinion, a worse hotel, so I expressed my refusal to be moved. Manager was quite rude on the phone, & said he would give us a different room. It smelt , was dirty, and holes in skirting boards & carpet was grubby! Was classed as a budget room.
The staff were vert friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help
Clean bedding and towels. Clean room. Friendly staff. There is an option of buying a parking permit for £6.
Dated rooms, mainly bathroom, but clean. Not bad as I have seen worse.
Good price and near everything you want
