Very cute hotel very close to everything
The door did not LOCK from the outside. And it was not fixed after repeated requests.
This hotel is definitely five star for its marvellous friendly, helpful, charming staff: all lovely but an especial mention to the receptionist Erlinda, and the waitress Loan. It’s also a good five for the public areas: the garden is glorious, and the 24/7 bar is nicely designed and comfy. It’s also in a great location, a little back from the bustle of the Vieux Port, on a quieter street, but very easy walking distance from the port and everywhere else you might want to go in Marseille. The hotel loses a star because the bedrooms and apartment aren’t in the lovely reception building, but in a range of other buildings along the street, which is a little strange. Our bedroom was in a rather dingy, drab, cramped building across the road, and the room was rather small and basic. A huge contrast to the public rooms. Also, one day at breakfast they seemed to have run out of a lot of things that weren’t being replaced quickly enough. It’s a shame, because the wonderful staff generally work their socks off! I would come back, but I’d choose my room carefully.
An amazing two nights. I’m a former hotel owner and manager and stay in hotels approximately 40 nights a year. I can give this property the highest of ratings. Staff Henri, Loan, and ( Leann server) were all so accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was beautifully presented. My room was very clean and well thought out. I felt like I had a private patio. Every thing in the room worked well and was very clean. Dinner on 9/4 was outside and was terrific : cucumber with goat cheese / tuna for entree and a mouth watering chocolate dessert were all wonderful. No question as it was the best dinner I have had in 2025.
We stayed here as a family of four (two adults and two young children) and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The location is fantastic, you can easily walk everywhere, and our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable.
What really makes this hotel stand out, however, is the staff. They deserve a 10/10! From the warm welcome at reception, where they helped us with parking and gave us great tips on how to get around and make the most of our stay, to the friendly team at the bar and restaurant, everyone went above and beyond.
Dinner in the beautiful inner garden was a highlight: the chef was excellent, the food outstanding, and the staff were wonder full attentive, accommodating every request, even for the little ones.
This hotel has quickly become one of our absolute favorites, and we will definitely return. Highly recommended!
Great location and safe, quiet option for my one night in Marseille as a solo female traveller. Walk to everywhere, the room had everything I needed, including A/C, and was super-quiet with the comfiest bed. Unfortunately I can’t comment on my included breakfast because I slept so soundly, I completely missed it
Comfortable Stay in a rather basic hotel in a central location. Room had all neccessary amenities except a fridge. Kids had a bunk bed in an upper part which, however did not have a window that could be opened AC did not reach this part of room
This was a fantastic base for exploring Marseille and a clean comfortable room perfect for our family. The friendly helpful service made us feel very welcome.
This was a last-minute choice as the property
Great location. Clean, friendly, easy walking to great restaurants and sights. Parking in the EFFIA underground lot a few steps up the street, with validation (for discount) at the hotel lobby.
Great location
Incredible breakfast
I booked the Montgrand with only afew weeks to go before our first visit to Marseille and just needed somewhere decent and safe to stay. On arrival , very warm welcome and what a gorgeous old building !!Cute little bar, lots of lovely seating but the best bit ; the beautiful garden which proved great respite during the heatwave!!
Our room was in a building next door- much bigger than expected, huge bed , great air con and looked out onto a little garden courtyard where we sat every morning. We never have hotel breakfast so popped out to a little bakery round the corner open at 8am and enjoyed our tranquil space. Would have been nice to have more tea/coffee sachets in the room but there were coffee options in the hotel building.
Great location too.As 1st time visitors to Marseille it was ideal- quite an upmarket area- near the Opera with lots of squares and food options but 10mins walk to the port area too. A sign of a good hotel is when you look forward to returning to it after a hot day out and sitting in a beautiful garden - beautiful
Fantastic hotel in a lovely area , 10 minutes walk from the port. Very cool, mid century furniture in reception and cute little bar.The amazing garden was a sanctuary during the recent heatwave.Staff were very helpful, our room was in the building nextdoor( think the hotel own lots of properties in the street) overlooked a courtyard, great size room including huge bed.Highly recommend !
Very nice hotel in a great location. We particularly appreciated the big courtyard garden where breakfast and dinner or drinks could be taken. It was lovely to sit there of a morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Our room had everything we needed and bed was very comfortable. The town houses that make up the hotel are in quite a smart street, 5 minutes walk one way from Vieux Port and the same the other way from the main shopping street.
The location was very convenient, the staff friendly and helpful, and the nearby public parking garage was especially nice for an urban multi-level parking garage.
Lovely staff, beautiful garden!
Great location, clean room, quiet, comfortable bed. Staff were helpful when I needed some ice for a twisted knee. Easy to walk to major sites and access to boat tours from the old port.
Tout s'est très bien passé, l'hôtel est idéalement placé, propre et le personnel accueillant, je recommande.
