Excellent room and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had 2 breakfasts and one pizza dinner and the food was great! Mathilde was especially good at the reception desk.
Great service. Big rooms. Lovely breakfast.
Mathilda at the front desk was a positive and refreshing welcome after 14 hrs of travel.
Good location, nice atmosphere. The room was clean and with good beds. Good value for money. Great breakfast!
Zentrale Lage
Freundliches Personal
ABBA - musikalen.
It only takes 3 train stops + a 3 minute walk to get from the airport to the hotel. It is located near a shopping street, a number of good restaurants, the Nobel prize building, the harbor and a few more great places.
Despite a temperature of -15 -to -21 degrees Celsius during our four day visit, the hotel staff was as warm and inviting as your grandma with a cup of hot chocolate next to a fireplace.
The hotel has art scattered throughout the lobby, staircases, hotel rooms and restaurant. Rooms are very well kept and spacious. Value for money is in favor of the guest that stays here. Keeping a building in this shape with great staff does not come cheap.
Cleaning is a work of magic. Only once did we see a chamber maid, and yet every day the room was clean, the bed made and my pyjama folded on my pillow.
During our stay the only sound we heard was drom the theater that is in the building, but their program stops around 21.00 so even early sleepers cannot complain.
Why did I call this a terribly great hotel? Because by writing this honest review about how great it is I run the risk that the hotel is full next time I want to come back... so please, just like smoking and drinking, visit this hotel moderately
The location was excellent! Some members of the staff were extremely helpful. Others on the staff didnt seem to want to be bothered. The ambiance was excellent! Breakfast was good and the breakfast staff excellent!
I didnt like that some of the items in my room were not functioning as advertised. Such as the heated floor and the heater in the room. We were there a week and on the last day the elevator was operating. For ppl with health issues that information is essential to know because they should have the opportunity to switch hotels if needed. Not having netflix as a universal option for visitors from everywhere is unfortunate.
Breakfast was quite good and various, location excelent.
There the carpet is old and I suspect a cleaning solution is being applied that smells musty. Maids start turning on the vacuum cleaner too early.
This was my second stay at Cristiana Teater Hotel, and it exceeded my already high expectations. From the moment we arrived, I was recognised at the front desk as a returning guest and welcomed with genuine warmth. I felt less like a customer, more like family member welcomed back after a trip.
Arriving by train couldn’t be easier; the hotel is barely a three-minute walk from the station (with a train every 10 minutes to the airport). Its location is ideal, perfectly positioned across from the University and between the Royal Palace and Parliament. High-end shopping (Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton etc) is just a short stroll away, as are the harbour and the Nobel Peace Center. shopping, culture and whimsy - what more could a girl wish for?
For this trip with my 20-year-old daughter, I wanted a larger room and was offered Suite 701. After a ride in the legendary elevator, I opened the door to what I imagine Alice’s bedroom might be. We both felt like falling through the looking glass. The space unfolded in charming, unexpected ways, as though it had been designed by someone who believes deeply in comfort and just a touch of magic. The room was both spacious and inviting, adorned with quirky, storybook-like art that encouraged you to pause, look closer, and smile.
The true treasure, however, was a hidden reading nook tucked beneath two skylights and looking at the turret in the roof. What a delightful little rabbit hole of a space! A velvet-upholstered mattress lay there like a secret waiting to be discovered, layered with jewel-toned cushions and bathed in soft natural light. It felt suspended somewhere between dream and reality. My daughter took one look and declared that this was where she would sleep. Without us needing to ask, the Cristiana Teater team had already anticipated this and discreetly left a duvet in the dressing room. It was one of those thoughtful gestures that makes you feel genuinely seen.
You might think the room would have been the highlight of our stay - but it wasn’t.
Breakfast was every bit as memorable as I remembered it. A generous and delicious spread awaited us each morning: crispy bacon, eggs prepared every way imaginable, fresh fruit and berries, an impressive selection of yogurts (including plant-based options), freshly made waffles and pancakes, freshly squeezed orange juice and a variety of local delicacies. It was the kind of breakfast that encourages lingering and second cups of coffee with a square of carrot cake.
But this review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the incredible staff. A heartfelt thank you to Henrick and Mathilde at the front desk. Not only did they effortlessly accommodate our spontaneous requests, but they also shared invaluable local advice such as where to enjoy perfectly grilled salmon by the water (The Salmon) where to squeeze in a last-minute manicure, and where to sip a cocktail with a view. Conversations with them were filled with laughter, insight, and a rare sense of genuine human connection - something increasingly hard to find in hotels today.
I encourage you to discover this gem for yourselves. I will most certainly be back very soon.
From the minute we walked into the hotel, we knew we had made the right choice for our stay. The check in staff were extremely friendly and helpful and welcomed us into the hotel. The general atmosphere of the hotel was fantastic and the adjoining theatre gave the hotel a really great vibe.
We booked a larger room and it was so gorgeous. It was very spacious and so beautifully decorated. The bathroom was large and modern and even had heated floor tiles and towel rails.
The included breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. We truly loved everything about the hotel and the staff were all so friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend the hotel and hope to visit again one day.
We took a group tour through Oslo and stayed at the hotel. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing and public transportation. Rooms are large and clean, and include interesting decor. As an older hotel, there are a few stairs to get to some rooms, so if you need step-free room access, make sure to request that when you book. Hendrik at front desk was exceptional! He made the check in process very easy for our group, and he continued to help us with our group's needs (including help in booking a doctor's appointment for one of our guests). He was always friendly, smiling and was eager to help. He was amazing!
We loved our stay here. The service was excellent and the food delicious! Being checked in by Brave was a very easy and wonderful experience, especially after a very long day of travel. He made us feel welcome and was able to upgrade our room. We will definitely come and stay again, especially because of how we were treated by Brage. Thank you!
Beautiful hotel, perfect location for business and tourism, great breakfast and immaculate service. Hendrik at reception is phenomenal, great service and even offered us an upgrade with heavy discount! Will definitely come back.
