À 10 minutes du centre de Chambéry, le Château de Candie, hôtel 4 étoiles, surplombe la ville. Au cœur d'un parc de six hectares peuplé d'arbres centenaires et de fontaines, cette maison forte du XIVe siècle propose 25 chambres et suites toutes différentes, le restaurant bistronomique La Cantine, des bars, une piscine extérieure et une salle de sport.

Pros:

Le surclassement et la formule chambre souper et petit déjeuner.

Cons:

Disappointing experience at a hotel we had previously enjoyed.
Pros:

The staff were delightful and helpful. The room was spacious with a lovely view.

Cons:

The restaurant was not good. Despite being forewarned that my wife is coeliac, there was only one option on the menu and the waiter had no idea what was necessary. My main course of pressed lamb shoulder looked and smelled like dog food but tasted so awful I wouldn’t feed it to a dog. The waiters were disorganized and service was poor.

Ein wahrer Genuss!
Pros:

Eines der wenigen zahlbaren und wunderschönen Schlosshotels. Hoffentlich kann es sich noch lange halten. Tolles Zimmer, tolles Abendessen, tolles Frühstück. Einziges Manko war das schlechte Wetter, das einladende Pool haben wir daher nicht genutzt.
Unbedingt empfehlenswert, natürlich vor allem wenn man Freude an solchen charmanten romantischen Unterkünften hat.

Cons:

Etwas schade ist, dass man nicht direkt Vorort schön spazieren kann (wenig Umschwung).

Pros:

Sehr tolles Ambiente, haben sehr gut gegessen und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Haben ein Ubgrade bekommen, ich fühlte mich wie eine Prinzessin und das bei meinem Alter ;-)

Cons:

Die Liegestühle waren teilweise defekt.
Für uns war die Matratze zu weich.

Was oké maar we hadden meer verwacht

Ruime kamer, zwembad.
Diner mogelijkheid bij het Lido aan het meer.

Cons:

Uit alles bleek gebrek aan leiding en echte hospitality. Tafellakens die buiten van tafel waren gewaaid lagen bijv. 3 dagen later nog natgeregend tegen de balustrade. De ene keer stonden er wel lantaarns op tafel de andere keer weer niet enz.

Ontbijt was onder de maat voor een vier sterren accommodatie. Nooit een gekookt eitje, geen bruin brood en kleine keuze uit beleg.
Dinerkaart voor gasten met half pension is zeer beperkt. Zeker als je een week verblijft. Steeds dezelfde kaart.

Traumhafte Unterkunft
Pros:

Die Unterkunft war ein Traum. Wir hatten kostenlos ein Upgrade erhalten und waren sprachlos was wir erhalten haben. Auch das Essen abends war super und das Frühstück ebenfalls. Für alles Bestnoten!

Considering the price we paid, I would have expected a much higher standard.

We ended up staying in a rather small room located in a dependance rather than the main château (that was not clear from the room's description). The WC was, frankly, far too small and very low to the ground, making it particularly uncomfortable for anyone who is taller or has knee or mobility issues.

Some of the food we were served also did not appear or taste particularly fresh, including the pain au chocolat at breakfast - come on, we are in France!

Finally, some of the details simply did not meet the standard one would expect from a château. For example, the table setting included mismatched forks and glasses, which gave an overall impression of insufficient attention to detail.

Given the price and the expectations created by the setting and the château’s positioning, we found the overall experience disappointing and not at the level we had anticipated.
